Establishment Media Hides Trump’s New Policy to Stop ‘Genital Mutilation’ of American Girls

    by Neil Munro18 Apr 2017727

The establishment media is hiding the dramatic news that President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice has announced a national campaign to eradicate the imported practice of Female Genital Mutilation.

By ignoring the imported FGM practice, the TV networks “are guilty of aiding and abetting violence against women out of a politically correct fueled fear of offending Muslims,” says an April 18 statement by the Media Research Center and ACT for America.

The federal government’s dramatic policy announcement was made April 13 when officials revealed they had charged a Muslim doctor for performing FGM on two American girls from Minnesota. The doctor and the two girls have immigrant parents from Muslim countries, where Islamic leaders endorse the peculiar institution to keep women subordinate to men. Officials also said they had found additional child victims in Michigan.

The establishment media has largely hidden the administration’s new pro-female policy and the shocking crime, which threatens or has already victimized more than 500,000 young American women whose parents are immigrants from countries where FGM is routine.

On April 13, the New York Times just posted a 637-word article on page A14 about a “Michigan doctor” without mentioning “Islam” or “Muslim.” The Washington Post merely ran a 760-word online article on April 13 about a “Detroit emergency room doctor,” and a four-paragraph AP report in the newspaper about a “Detroit-area doctor” on April 14. Neither article mentioned Islam.

TheHill ran a 221-word piece on April 13 about a “Detroit emergency room doctor” which hid the role of imported Islamic ideas. Politico’s website shows no mention of the Muslim doctor’s s name.

The Virginia-based Media Research Council slammed the TV networks on April 18 for ignoring the issue. “Since last Thursday, The New York Times, FoxNews.com, and CNN.com have all posted pieces online about the case and Fox News’ Tucker Carlson ran a segment about it on his show Friday. So far, the morning and evening news shows at the big three networks have been silent, and as of this morning so has CNN,” MRC reported Tuesday, April 18.

“The media’s moral compass is hopelessly broken,” said an April 18 joint statement from MRC President Brent Bozell and Brigitte Gabriel, founder of ACT for America, an anti-terror groups with a reported membership of 500,000 members.

We have the first case of the brutal practice of FGM in the United States, and the networks are AWOL. You would think an extremely brutal practice of violence against women would make TV headlines here at home, but you would be wrong.

Where is the outrage? The hypocrisy is staggering. The networks, which have for years championed the causes of left-wing feminists and women’s rights, are conspicuously silent on this case and their silence is deafening. This is real exploitation of young girls and the usual suspects who ought to care have little to say about this form of torture making its way to America. This practice is illegal and immoral. The networks have an ethical responsibility to report that it’s happening here at home. If they don’t, they are guilty of aiding and abetting violence against women out of a politically correct fueled fear of offending Muslims.

The progressives’ reluctance to name-and-shame Islam — despite copious evidence that Islam endorses and promotes the practice — comes as progressives try to block President Trump’s new immigration policies, which threaten to reduce the immigration of Islamic communities and political groups into the United States.

Also, progressive politicians and activists prefer to cooperate with Islamic governments overseas and with Islamic leaders domestically, instead of challenging Muslim government and communities to discard practices that violate Western-style rights. That preference is described at the website for Equality Now, which the New York Times describe as “an international women’s rights advocacy organization.” According to the group’s website:

Our formula for legal success is focusing on individual cases that are significant to a larger cause. Whether it is petitioning freedom for an Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning or drawing awareness to the destruction of girls’ schools in Pakistan, Equality Now is on the forefront of the gender equality evolution.

Amid the news about the U.S. case, the group tried to reframe the imported Islamic practice as generic, non-political “child-abuse.” The group’s leader, Shelby Quast, declared that “we know that this is a child abuse issue, and we know that we need to start training our child protection folks better,” according to the New York Times.

“We need better information about exactly where they are,” Quast said about the doctors that perform back-room FGMs, without noting that they are found in Islamic communities around the United States. For example, the Detroit doctor, Jumana Nagarwala, was trained at Johns Hopkins but reportedly is the daughter of two Indian immigrants from the Bohra sect of Shia Muslims. An article in the Hindustan Times reported that the female clitoris is described as “‘’haraam ki boti’ or immoral lump of flesh” by advocates of FGM.

The newspaper said the two victims were from Minnesota and were delivered to the doctor by their immigrant Somali mothers. Various reports say that Somali Muslims practice an extreme form of this FGM practice, while most Muslim practitioners perform a milder version, with some Muslims merely cutting the female genital “hood” without damaging the clitoris.

Quast declined to provide comments to Breitbart News.

    WND EXCLUSIVE
U.S. MEDIA 'SPINNING LIES' ABOUT FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION
'200 million women in the world today have had this done to them'

It was an explosive story: A U.S. emergency-room doctor in Detroit was prosecuted for intentionally mutilating the genitals of two young girls. But major TV networks simply ignored the alarming news, according to a media watchdog that slammed the outlets Tuesday.

Media Research Center said ABC, CBS and NBC all failed to report on the case of Dr. Jumana Nagarwala, 44, an emergency-room physician who was arrested April 13 on charges that she performed the grisly practice of female genital mutilation, or FGM. The practice involves removing all or part of the clitoris of girls between the ages of 6 and 8.

Dr. Jumana Nagarwala was charged in Detroit Wednesday with mutilating the genitalia of young girls.
The media that did report the horrific crimes the doctor allegedly committed have failed to associate the practice with Islamic countries, despite a 2013 United Nations report showing large swaths of Africa and parts of the Middle East and Asia still subject their daughters to the procedure in stunning numbers.

According to the 2013 UNICEF report covering 29 countries, Egypt has the region’s highest total number of women who have undergone FGM – 27.2 million – while Somalia has the highest percentage (prevalence) of FGM at 98 percent.

Last Thursday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced charges against Nagarwala for performing FGM on two Minnesota girls brought to her suburban Detroit office by their parents. Minnesota has a large community of Somali refugees. Several additional victims of the doctor have come forward in Michigan this week.

The New York Times, FoxNews.com and CNN have all posted news articles online about the case, and Fox News’ Tucker Carlson ran a segment about it on his Friday show. So far, the morning and evening news shows at the big three networks have been silent, as has CNN.

WND reported last week that even the media companies that reported on the arrest of Nagarwala have almost universally failed to inform audiences that FGM is an almost exclusively Muslim practice in today’s world.

The Detroit News finally did publish a story Monday that identified Dr. Nagarwala as a Muslim, after omitting the fact in three previous stories on the case.

But the newspaper spins its latest story in such a way as to suggest that Nagarwala’s grotesque procedure is practiced only by a tiny sect within Islam, the Dawoodi Bohras, which has about 1 million followers out of 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide.

“The Dawoodi Bohras hail mostly from western India and were traditionally comprised of businessmen, entrepreneurs and professionals. There are approximately 1 million followers worldwide,” the Detroit News reports.

The newspaper then quotes Dawud Walid, the Michigan chapter leader for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, who assures Michiganians that this practice is not condoned by any members of the state’s mainstream mosques.

“It is a more insular community,” Walid said. “They do not mingle, and that mosque doesn’t really affiliate with any of the other mosques in Metro Detroit.”

Walid also told the News he has never heard of a religious procedure described by Nagarwala’s defense attorneys.

But Walid should be very familiar with the practice because it is widespread across the Muslim world, experts on the Islamic culture and practices told WND.

Dr. Mark Christian, an OB-GYN who was trained in his native Egypt, said he has personally had to treat hundreds of women who suffered negative effects of FGM.

“In the Middle East, it’s called female circumcision. I never did it, but I fixed a lot of side effects from it,” Dr. Christian, a Christian convert from Islam who now lives in Nebraska, told WND.

Egypt: The FGM capital of the world

Dr. Christian said Egypt is the FGM capital of the world. At least 91 percent of Egyptian women are “circumcised,” according to the 2013 UNICEF report. In Somalia, 98 percent of woman have had their genitals mutilated, the highest of any country.

The U.S. Justice Department case against Dr. Nagarwala involved Somali parents bringing their daughters to the doctor in Detroit to have the procedure done. Those children have now been seized by social services in Minnesota and removed from their homes.

“A lot of patients would have this done in outside practices, by midwives predominantly, and then they would come to me later in life with some serious problems, problems with fertility and with urinary tract issues that can be very painful,” Dr. Christian, who founded the Global Faith Institute, told WND.

“There are 200 million women in the world today who have had this done to them. Egypt is the capital of female circumcision in terms of the number of procedures done there,” he said.

Ironically, the procedure was banned in Egypt in 2008, and the penalty was increased from a misdemeanor to a felony in 2017. But it will never be wiped out, as long as Islam is the dominant religion, Christian said.

The procedure itself involves cutting all or part of the clitoris and sewing together the two labia menora of the vagina, allowing just a small opening for urination. It usually is done before the girl reaches puberty but sometimes later in her teen years.

Before she is married, another surgery is performed to reopen her sewn-shut labia.

“So basically they make the girl unable to have intercourse before marriage. And she will never be able to enjoy sex after that,” said Dr. Christian, who was also a child imam in his teens, had memorized most of the Quran and led pilgrimages to Mecca.

This barbaric practice is traced historically to the Egyptian pharaohs, he said, but was adopted by Islamic scholars and became part of Shariah law in many countries.

“It’s as old as Egyptian civilization. We have to note that Islam never came up with a genuine, original idea,” he said. “Islam never invented anything. Prayers, fasting, dietary rules, the five pillars and its rituals were all adopted from other religions and civilizations. This is true also for circumcision.”

Christian said Islam’s founder and prophet, Mohammad, talked about circumcision extensively.

“He said whoever, as a man, converts to Islam, even if he is old, has to be circumcised,” he said. “As for the female, Muhammad did not circumcise his own daughter, but he did not forbid it and, in fact, he encouraged it for everybody but his own family.”

For Muhammad and the many Muslim leaders who followed him, circumcision is about keeping a woman’s “honor” intact until marriage.

“It’s basically closing the woman until the marriage contract and then then go back and cut her again, and this way they make sure she never has premarital sex and denying her any satisfaction or arousal, for life, even after marriage,” he said. “They don’t want the woman to be needy in that way.”

The only significant population of Christians who participate in this brutal practice are the Coptic Christians in Egypt, Dr. Christian said, and there is a reason for this.

“Egypt was Christianized very early on. As soon as the Christians came to Egypt, female circumcision became forbidden, and they tried to eliminate all the traditional practices of the pharaohs and Islam,” he explained. “It soon became completely gone from Egyptian society, but when Islam came in during the seventh century, this is when FGM became endemic again right away.”

This is when the Copts got snared into the practice, Christian said.

“The Church tried to push against it, and the Muslim dads kept telling the Christian dads, ‘Your Christian girls are more promiscuous, less honorable, because they are not circumcised,’ so in return the Christians start engaging in this as well, even though the church preaches against it,” he said. “The Copts are pretty much the only Christians who are doing it today. And this is because of the ongoing tensions between the Christians and Muslims there in Egypt.”

Whenever the government of Egypt tries to crack down on the practice, the imams coming out of al-Ahzer University in Cairo resist such movements, he said.

“Imams will say that since Muhammad did see it being done and he did not stop it, then it is up for every family to make this decision on their own,” he added. “And Muhammad did say it was honorable and no man wants his daughters to go around being promiscuous and having premarital sex, so this is why they push for it.

“It has been very customary that it is done by midwives and not by doctors in the hospitals.”

Dr. Christian said the impacts of FGM on women can be devastating, from bleeding to death from the procedure itself, infertility, infection and sexual dysfunction.

“A 17-year-old girl died just few months ago in Egypt, and they upgraded it to felony status. About 16,000 women and girls have died in Egypt over the past decade as a result of this procedure,” he said.

“And this is not one or two cases; this is the main surgery I would do at least once or twice a day in Cairo to fix these problems,” he said. “It is very common.”

Even with the new laws against FGM in Egypt, he said the practice will likely never be eliminated or even severely curtailed as long as Islamic clerics hold sway over Egyptian society.

“It is dying out in highly educated families, but the majority of families in Egypt do not live in this highly educated status,” he said. “It could have died away like many prehistoric practices, but the reason it has been carried through to our current age is because Muhammad did not forbid it but encouraged it.

“There is no case for changing or reforming, because, if you do, you are guilty of apostasy.”

No better proof is needed re. the anti-freedom, anti-USA, anti-everything-western nature of the propaganda branch of the communists in this country. They are the mouthpiece of the enemy.

One of my professors in grad school said it was common in Africa. Barbaric. And we invite such savages to live among us.
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

Most historians and anthropologists agree that this custom was NOT especially Islamic but tribal; while Mohammed himself refused to condemn the practice he didn't demand it either (they way it was demanded for male converts, as it was in Jewish faith and in the very early first years of the early Church).

This means that it IS possible for this practice to be eliminated; unlike Jewish circumcision for men - which Ireland in fact did try to make illegal and the government found themselves simply shocked that the Jewish community just went underground and did it anyway; today it is once again legal if performed in a hospital with a doctor right there watching; but there were a few years there where the law was simply for both sexes, but surprise the Jews didn't "summit."

Sadly the lack of education in the Muslim world, especially for women; means that many people don't have a clue this practice predates Islam and really isn't a mandatory part of the religion; like face veils for women (that Muhammed also did not demand his own daughters wear even when preaching in public- which they did) it is optional. I am pretty sure that the hair itself needs to be covered (I need to look that up, been awhile since I read the Hadiths) but the face does not.

Many Christian traditions until recently also advocated or demanded full head coverings for women (again head not face) and a few still do; you still have to wear a head covering if you are invited to visit the Pope and you are female.

But back to the topic, this practice is horrific; I agree totally it needs to be stopped but the best way forward in Islamic countries is to do what Egypt is doing and educate people that the practice is tribal and not really Islamic at all.

In the US, making it totally illegal and again having serious educational campaigns aimed at the affected communities (some of which do have believe if or not female Imams that minister only to women but they are again a good group to target).

It all really comes down to a decision between screaming "aren't these people horrible" or actually wanting to CHANGE things for the next generation of girls; religions can be changed sometimes by personal choice, once this horrible "operation" is performed on a young girl that is it; she is damaged for life. Reconstructive surgery can help, but it won't restore function or feeling to the area (which is the point); but to change things requires both enforcing (or changing) laws everywhere and educating women (and men) that this is not mandated by their religion and is simply unacceptable.

I have heard many Europeans (especially doctors) argue the same standard should hold for the male version of the operation but I don't think that is practical for two reasons; one is simply that the male version is not as destructive for most men as the female version is for almost all women; and I simply don't think Jews will stop performing it, it is commanded by their religion as the mark of a Jew or a convert and I don't see that changing.

I could see a situation where some sort of compromise was reached like the one in Ireland where it has to be done in a hospital setting, but still with all the proper rites involved.

Melodi, nice explanation/synopsis of the problem. FGM is indeed largely cultural, and aggressive laws and education needs to be used to reduce the practice. I had no idea that any Christian sect practiced FGM!

Better to just let muslims stay in or return to their home countries and do what they please to each other, rather than spread their system any further here in the West.

The muslim invaders have been repulsed repeatedly in the West throughout history at great cost of blood and treasure and it needs to be done again.

Dozdoats, the topic is in general both in the US and outside of it; there are millions of people already in the US, that are unlikely to be going anywhere (especially second, third and fourth generations) and that's the group in the US I was talking about (people already here).

The other groups I was talking about was in terms of trying to eliminate this horrific practice world-wide, but I think is possible; like child-marriage in India, parts of Africa and the Middle East it may take about two generations to totally die out.

But many people felt that foot binding would never be toppled in China either and it was; with the last holdouts being rural villages where there are still a few very elderly ladies whose feet were bound as late as the 1930's and 1940's but after that it was pretty much eradicated.

I mean I'm not suggesting Maoist dictatorships as a way forward either; only that people can change these things if there is a will and a massive effort put forward to do so.

The first I ever heard of it was from a National Geographic magazine many years ago. It was describing some tribe in Africa, not moslem, and it was called "female circumcision". It is very common among primitive tribes in Africa, I don't know how common.

Utterly reprehensible and the above articles prove that Islam trumps feminism, health, concern for women, the rule of law and just about anything else in the US.

And where are the Big, Foul Mouthed Feminists?? Out wearing their stupid hats and protesting something else??
It is common, and it is one of the leading causes of death and horrid disability in Africa.

When the girls pussies get cut up by amateurs in non sterile conditions, it turns into a form of genocide and population control.
    Usually, but not necessarily, Moslems.

I read Melodi's comment and I didn't see that any Christians sects practiced FGM.

ETA: I just read the WND article and found this, horrible. I wonder if it as rampant among Copts as moslems.

    Melodi,

    The practice is horrible.

    The practitioners are worse.

Eliminate the practitioners IN THIS SOCIETY/NATION/COUNTRY and you will have eliminated the spread of the practice into new territory.

I do not care what they do in their own muslim inbred 70IQ hellholes. I do not want them spreading their poison here, as they are so busy doing.

Anyone caught practicing this should be imprisoned for life(no parole). Let THAT sentence be put into law and loudly trumpeted in the muslime community and either they will leave or at least quit doing it(hopefully).

I just did some quick searches, aside from Copts, there is a small Christian sect in Ethiopia. It is almost exclusively an African tribal and Islamic custom.

Here is one link about Copts and moslems in Egypt and also some other info, I don't have time to post the whole thing.

PREVALENCE OF AND SUPPORT FOR FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION WITHIN THE COPTS OF EGYPT: UNICEF REPORT (2013)
    March 12, 2014
tags: Copts and female genital mutilation

I a previous article, I surveyed Egypt’s statistics in respect of the prevalence of and support for female genital mutilation (FGM) as revealed in the UNICEF’s document, published in July 2013, Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting: A statistical overview and exploration of the dynamics of change. The figures given are concerned with Egypt as a whole, and so when the percentage of 91% is given as prevalence of FGM in Egyptian girls and women in reproductive age, that is between 15 and 49 years, it does not differentiate between Muslim and Christian Egyptian girls and women. Now, I am going to try to find the statistics relevant to the Coptic Christians.

Unlike in Islam, FGM has no religious backing whatsoever in Christianity; nonetheless, it’s practiced by Copts, and it has become a social norm within Coptic communities, in the sense that Coptic families that have their daughters cut do that a. because others who matter to them have their daughters cut; and b. and because they believe that others who matter to them think they should have their daughters cut. This is a consequence of assimilation to the dominant Muslim society.

When the UNICEF published its general figures about Egypt as a whole, it made use of the Egyptian state Demographic and Health Surveys of the years 1995, 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2008; however, when separating figures by religion, it used only the latest DHS 2008. This survey studied some odd 900 individuals. We do not know how many Copts were represented in that sample, and so there are criticisms about its accuracy when it comes to the Copts. There is a real need to study the Coptic community separately, using large samples, and asking more relevant questions.

But let us use what we have in the UNICEF’s Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting. The first thing to note is that the prevalence of FGM in the Copts is lower than that in Muslim Egyptian society but, nevertheless, it’s still high: 92% in Muslims and 74% in Copts, a difference of 18%.

A coupe more graphs and a bit more info at the site.

    Interesting article and chart.
    Thanks for your research.
The article shows how the cancer of Islam corrupts those who are surrounded by them.

If there were any justice in the world, every last militant feminist would be dragged off to the ME and have their external genitalia removed, with a dull knife and no painkiller.

All in the name of Islam of course...

Another Doctor and Wife Arrested in Michigan For Female Genital Mutilation on Young Girls

Doctor Fakhruddin Attar and wife Farida were arrested Friday near Detroit for conspiring to commit and aiding in female genital mutilation [FGM] of girls as young as six-years-old. The Attars allegedly allowed the procedure to be carried in their Livonia medical clinic. Mrs. Attar even held the hands of the girls screaming in pain.

According to the criminal complaint from the Department of Justice, the couple conspired with Detroit emergency room doctor Jumana Nagarwala. Nagarwale was arrested last week for performing the procedure on a number of girls.

"This investigation has identified other children who may have been cut by Nagarwala at Attar's clinic, MBC, between 2005 and 2017, including children in Michigan. On April 10, 2017, child forensic interviews employed by the FBI and HSI interviewed several minor girls in Michigan. In these interviews, multiple minor girls informed forensic interviewers that procedures had been performed on their genitals by Nagarwala. One minor girl said that Farida was present during the procedure performed by Nagarwala," the complaint states.

Parents of the victims were also interviewed by the FBI and two admitted Nagarwala had performed the procedures on their daughters at the clinic. The others denied any knowledge of the practice, but according to wiretapped conversations between Nagarwala and Mrs. Attar, Nagarwala advised parents to deny knowing about FGM should they be asked by federal law enforcement authorities.

The victims were driven by their parents across state lines for the extreme procedure, many coming from Minnesota. They will likely face a number of charges. The minors were told they were being taken on a "girls trip." Once they arrived at the hotel, they were told they needed to go Nagarwala for a "stomach ache" and FGM was performed to "get the germs out."

During her court appearance earlier this week, Dr. Nagarwala's attorneys denied FGM is mutilation and said the procedure is a basic religious practice.

This conspiracy is the first FGM case in the United States. You can read the entire criminal complaint below.

Muslim Doctor Denies Conducting Female Genital Mutilation, Says It Was Basic Religious Practice

Detroit emergency room Dr. Jumana Nagarwala was arrested and charged last week for allegedly conducting female genital mutilation [FGM] on girls as young as six-years-old.

As previously reported, the details are horrifying.
According to the criminal complaint, Nagarwala performed the illegal and severe procedure in a "medical clinic" outside of the hospital, but did not receive payment and did not bill patients. The FBI classified her as a member of a specific religious community. Girls from neighboring Minnesota, at least one who was seven-years-old, were brought by their parents to Nagarwala for the procedure. They were also interviewed by the FBI and could face charges.

The minors were told they were being taken on a "girls trip." Once they arrived at the hotel, they were told they needed to go the doctor for a "stomach ache" and FGM was performed to "get the germs out."
During her court hearing this week, Nagarwala defended the practice as a "religious removal" and denied it was mutilation at all. From Fox 2:
Inside a federal courtroom, 44-year-old Dr. Jumana Nargarwala, a mother of four, stood before a judge handcuffed, dressed in an orange jumpsuit and a long hijab draped down her arms and shoulders, appearing emotionless as the prosecution and defense divulged gruesome details of what allegedly went on in her Livonia clinic after hours.

The defense argued, claiming no female genital mutilation took place, instead, a religious removal of a mucus membrane from the genitals which was wrapped up and given to the parents to bury -- a practice they say is performed by a small sect of Indian-based Islam called Dawoodi Bohra.

Their mosque is located in Farmington Hills.

In the criminal complaint, the FBI classified the doctor as a member of a specific religious community. They did not name or mention Islam.
For more detail on how the World Health Organization defines FGM, please read the affidavit.

Nagarwala is being held without bond due to being a flight risk. She is facing life in prison if convicted. This is the first federal FGM case in American history.
