    2 Fallout Shelters are Hot

Fallout shelters, storm shelters and saferooms ... you've probably seen a news story or two lately about them ... folks of all income strata and political persuasions are coming to realize that there's no peace of mind like personal-bunker peace of mind.

Our shelter builder has 22 years of experience and multiple full-time crews on his payroll building and installing steel-plate shelters all over the USA. They're busier than ever and there are as many rationales for shelters as there are customers.

We just want to remind you that we have the most cost-effective, reliable shelter options out there. We build 'em according to your exact specifications ... no cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all production.

I've had my own shelter now for 12 years and it's the best move I've ever made.

Anyway, I thought I'd just give you an idea of what a small NBC Fallout shelter is running right now (most that we build for customers do run larger). Have a look here at a 6 x 6 x 12 bunker: http://www.safecastle.com/documents/NBC3DModel.pdf

Would love to have one but there's no way I could get it delivered to here, my son says we should make our own, so it's one of the projects in the pipeline for research,
If I had access to proffesionaly built shelters like you guys have I'd be all over it,

By basically scrounging and scrimping, I was able to build a concrete block, 8x 10 x 24' underground hurricane shelter (Fully radiation shielded with gamma trap style entrance). for under 10K. It took 6 months to dig it by hand and nearly three years to build. It sucked much, but I did not have to pay for it all at once. I guess financing one that is done all at once is about the same as buying what you can each month, but much more expensive since you have to pay for others labor and profit. I used 10" I beams for the roof poured solid with 1/2" rebar in every concrete block cell and woven all through the beams. The floor is only 6' below grade and I piled dirt on the top to cover it due to the water table in FL. I have confidence that it would survive a direct hit from the strongest hurricane or tornado.

    On another board, someone posted:

Awesome thread, Safecastle! Some day ... Some day ...

Let me know if you come up w any mind control techniques that work on wives.

I thought I'd share my response to him here as well:

Well ... I can tell you what worked for me ... about 13 years ago now.

This was before I started selling shelters.

As fortune would have it, my family had had three different close encounters over the years with tornadoes. Our home did not have a full basement and thus we really did not have an adequate storm shelter.

We decided to put on an addition to the house and my wife thought it was a great idea if we could at the same time put in a legit storm shelter. It was an easy sell for me to show her that if we were going to do that, we might just as well do it right and make sure our new shelter would protect us against most all conceivable threats -- an NBC fallout shelter.

Of course it needed to be within reason cost-wise (we financed it into the loan for the addition). I shopped around--found the steel-plate shelter builder and frankly, there were no other builders out there who came close to getting us what we needed for the price.

When it was all done, we were both so pleased with the shelter that I became an unofficial shelter evangelist and quickly thereafter arranged to develop a business relationship with the builder to do the work on Safecastle shelters.

Bottom line--our shelter is the very best peace of mind I (and my wife too) can imagine. One of the best decisions we ever made!

I would sooo love to have one of these but I live in the Ozarks...and that means many of us live on a limestone plate. Heck, when they put my dad's power pole in for his house on our property, they had to use explosives to blow the hole for the pole, THEN put a drill down to go even deeper. But I can dream, can't I?

    Straight up and down?

Fallout from a nuclear detonation is propelled into the atmosphere and is subjected there to the various wind patterns and directions, being carried away from ground zero to places miles away.

What is an N.B.C. fallout shelter?

N.B.C. stands for nuclear, biological, and chemical. An N.B.C. fallout shelter is a structure that offers protection from any nuclear, biological, and/or chemical disaster or emergency.

Many shelters on the market cut corners, use substandard materials, or just ignore the guidelines and call any shelter stuck in the ground an N.B.C. shelter. We do not. All of our shelters are designed by a certified structural engineer. All of our shelters meet or exceed all of the F.E.M.A. guidelines. Our N.B.C. fallout shelters have corrosion protection that can triple the life of the shelter over many if not most of our competitor's fallout shelters.

Why do I need an N.B.C. fallout shelter?

The United States has over 100 operating nuclear power plants and 16 non-operating power plants. There are also a large number of nuclear fuel and weapon facilities. An attack or accident at one of these facilities could cause a nuclear blast or radiation release. These plants and facilities are each vulnerable to air strikes, truck bombs, boat bombs. The well-equipped and well-armed single madman or small group of terrorists are also valid threats. Protection against the resulting fallout would be a must.

With terrorist countries like Iran, Libya, North Korea, and Sudan, we need to protect ourselves more than ever. This is not mentioning the terrorist organizations that are thriving in country's like Afghanistan (13 known organizations), Pakistan (12), Lebanon (10), India (9), and Iraq (6). Full list of plants.

A nuclear blast is not the only thing that we have to fear from the terrorist countries and organizations. There is also the very real threat from biological and chemical agents that could be deployed in a number of ways. Biological threats such as anthrax, smallpox, botulism, tularemia, and pneumonic plague. Chemical threats such as sarin, hydrogen cyanide, sulfur mustard, chlorine, agent 15, and ricin. We need to be prepared.

    Protection

During a Nuclear, Biological, or Chemical emergency all reliable sources say to find a room with as few doors and windows as possible. This room should be already stocked with emergency supplies such as water, food, batteries, flashlights, bedding, emergency radios, and plastic sheeting and duct tape for sealing the windows and doors. If it is a nuclear or radiological emergency, the room should be low in the building. If it is chemical emergency, they say the higher the room in the building the better.

Our N.B.C. Fallout Shelters will protect you and your loved ones from all Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical emergencies, in one place, at a moment’s notice. Not to mention that the shelter offers further protection as a storm shelter or safe room.

Our NBC Fallout Shelters = Peace of Mind.

I'm sure I saw one on the interstate yesterday. It was round, likely twelve to fourteen feet wide and forty or so feet long. In the center it had a square section going upward five or so feet, approximately a fourth to a third of the overall length. Steel construction, with welded supporting framework noticeable. Odd piece, had to be a shelter. Headed east in central Illinois.
