‘A painful death’: Chester toddler’s dad beat her, waited to call 911, prosecutor says

A 2-year-old girl who died after being beaten by her father would have survived if the father had called 911 earlier, prosecutors said.

Darryl Quantravis Wilson, 29, has been in jail without bond since February, after his daughter, Khloe Simone Adams, died at a Chester hospital on Nov. 1, 2017.

Wilson is charged with homicide by child abuse and faces up to life in prison if convicted.

A court hearing was held Monday in Chester, because Wilson wanted bond, pending trial. He has been in jail without bond for six months.

Wilson was arrested in February, following an investigation by South Carolina’s State Law Enforcement Division child fatality agents.

The investigation showed Khloe’s stomach and intestines were ripped apart in the Halloween 2017 beating, said Candice Lively, 6th Circuit Deputy Solicitor. Wilson called 911, but it was too late for Khloe to survive, Lively said.

“This little girl died a painful death,” Lively said in court Monday. “She could have been saved if she was treated right away.”

Khloe had been getting ready to go trick-or-treating on Halloween 2017, when she started to throw up and became sick, Lively said.

Wilson, her father, waited too long to try CPR and call for help. Then the investigation found that the girl died of a blunt force beating to her abdomen, Lively said.

Wilson, of Rock Hill, did not speak in court except to say he had two other children.

Wilson’s lawyer, Jim Boyd, said Wilson has no criminal record and poses no flight risk or threat to the community. Boyd did not address the charge of homicide by child abuse directly and offered no insight as to what defense Wilson might have.

Visiting Judge Thomas Russo of Florence set a bond of $25,000 for Wilson based on him having no record and living locally. However, Judge Russo said Wilson can not visit his other children without supervision because of the severity of the child abuse allegations.

A trial date has not been set.

Man killed by stepchildren's father in Tamarac, deputies say
Victim found lying in middle of Northwest 69th Court

TAMARAC, Fla. - A 30-year-old man was arrested Monday, hours after he fatally shot his children's stepfather in Tamarac, authorities said.

Ryan Inmon, of Pompano Beach, faces a charge of first-degree murder.

Sky 10 flew above the crime scene Monday morning as a white sheet covered the victim's body in the middle of Northwest 69th Court near West McNab Road.

When deputies arrived, they found the man's lifeless body lying in the roadway.

Nearby residents who spoke to Local 10 News said they didn't hear any gunshots.

Relatives identified the victim as 28-year-old Tavares Phillips.

Phillips' cousin said the victim lived at the home where the shooting occurred with his wife and her two children from a previous relationship.

According to Adrian Mclemore, Phillips was shot in the back by a man as Phillips was putting one of the children in the car to take him or her to the hospital for a scheduled surgery.

"They were loading the kid in the car to go to the hospital for surgery," Mclemore said. "From what I understand, someone came up behind them -- they suspect it was the child's father -- and shot him in the back."

Authorities confirmed that the children's father, Inmon, was arrested hours later after being found in the 800 block of Southwest Eighth Avenue in Pompano Beach.

"I'm upset because the kid has come a long way," Mclemore said. "He's come a long way, you know? He's trying to be a father, and he just recently was married. And it just don't make sense."

Phillips and his stepchildren's father were both at a family gathering on Sunday and there didn't appear to be any issues between the two, Mclemore said.

"I call it cowardly, because if you're two grown men, you should be able to deal with it in a different way. Gun violence is out of control here in Broward County," Mclemore said.

A motive for the shooting is unknown.

Anyone with further details about the shooting is asked to call Detective Zack Scott at 954-321-4210 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.

Boyfriend charged in weekend slaying of 36-year-old Birmingham mother

The boyfriend of a woman fatally shot Saturday night in Birmingham's Southtown public housing community has been formally charged in her death.

Birmingham police on Monday announced the murder warrant against 37-year-old Anthony Needham. He is charged in the death of 36-year-old Sikeisha Mitchell.

The shooting happened about 10:45 p.m. in the city's Southtown public housing community. Police said they responded to an apartment in the 900 block of 23rd Street South on a report of a shooting.

Once they arrived, they found Mitchell wounded inside her apartment. Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced her dead on the scene from a gunshot wound to the head.

Initially it wasn't immediately clear whether it was intentional or accidental, but police later determined it was a homicide. Authorities said a domestic argument was apparently taking place when the shooting happened.

Dozens of friends and family members responded to the Saturday-night scene, visibly emotional. One woman was yelling repeatedly, "My baby, my baby."

Police have not released any additional information about Mitchell's slaying. Needham is being transferred from the Birmingham City Jail to the Jefferson County Jail. His bond is set at $100,000.

Search on for woman's boyfriend after she's found dead in home

HOUSTON - A woman was found dead Wednesday inside an apartment in north Houston, police said.

According to Houston police, 32-year-old Latara Shantrell Sanders' bruised and bloodied body was found around 1 a.m. at the Yale Village Apartments in the 5600 block of Yale.

Sanders' brother-in-law tells KPRC2 that he went to her apartment to check on her after her family hadn't seen or heard from her in several days, but the door was locked. He said he kicked in the front door and called police when he found Sanders' body in the living room.

“It’s been a couple of days since they’ve spoken to her so that’s when they came over to the apartment and made entry,” said Houston police homicide detective E. P. Aguilar.

Investigators said they believe she might have been killed after they found injuries on her face, neck, back and left arm.

Police are looking for Sanders' live-in boyfriend, 33-year-old Marcus Lockett, who they say is a person of interest in her death.

The victim's brother-in-law said he didn't know how long the couple had been together and wasn't aware of any past troubles.

Lockett's mother told investigators she had not heard from her son in several days.

Sex offender who exposed himself to children at playground headed back to prison

A man previously convicted of statutory rape is going back to prison after a jury found him guilty of another sex crime involving children, the Henry County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Joseph Gene Walker, 42, was sentenced to 30 years with 15 to serve Thursday for exposing himself to children on a playground at a McDonough apartment complex, Henry County officials said.

Walker was convicted of two counts of child molestation, loitering, public indecency, public drunkenness and obstruction of an officer. He was also found in violation of the sex offender registry.

On July 29, 2017, police arrived at the playground at the Echelon Park Apartments on McDonough Parkway after a babysitter said she saw Walker expose his genitals and masturbated.

Walker, who was intoxicated, ran from police when the babysitter pointed him out, authorities said. Walker ignored commands to stop, but was arrested a short time later.

Police later learned Walker was a sex offender and was in violation of the registry requirements.

According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Walker was convicted in 2004 of statutory rape in Clayton County. He was released in 2008.

In addition to his prison sentence, Walker must remain on the sex offender registry for the rest of his life.

Man arrested after exposing himself inside Union Avenue Taco Bell

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man was taken into custody after reportedly exposing himself and urinating inside a local Taco Bell.

The incident happened at the Union location late Wednesday evening.

According to police, an employee met them outside and told them that Kevin Felix caused a disturbance inside the business when he exposed himself to customers. All but one of the customers had left due to the offensive behavior, she said.

When officers went inside to confront the 35-year-old suspect they said he was lying on his back on a seating bench with his private area fully exposed. They said he appeared to be intoxicated and had even urinated on himself in the 20 minutes he had been inside the restaurant.

He finally covered up when officers announced themselves.

Felix was arrested and charged with indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Once sentenced to death, Durham killer due to be freed next month

RALEIGH, N.C. — A killer once sentenced to death for fatally shooting a woman in a church parking lot 30 years ago is being freed from prison next month, North Carolina's parole commission said Monday.

James McDowell, 50, has been serving a life sentence for first-degree murder but will be released Sept. 21, the state Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission said in a written statement. The commission sets parole for criminals convicted of crimes committed before October 1994, when parole was eliminated.

Documents explaining the commission's decision to grant McDowell's early release are not public record, state prisons spokesman Jerry Higgins said in an email.

The state Supreme Court in 1991 found errors in the sentencing phase of McDowell's 1988 trial and converted his death sentence to life in prison.

McDowell shot and killed Doris Gillie in her car as she was leaving the Durham Gospel Center after attending a prayer service in 1987. Gillie's family had previously opposed McDowell being granted parole, but her son did not return a message seeking comment Monday.

McDowell had accumulated 40 prison infractions over the years for offenses including fighting, faking illness and disobeying orders, but the last incident was in 2002, according to inmate records.

Woman shot to death in McDonald’s drive-thru in Jacksonville

A woman is dead following a shooting in the drive-thru of the McDonald’s restaurant at 8590 Baymeadows Road, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was ordering when someone walked up and shot her, Sgt. Marc Musser said. Officers found her in a silver Chrysler 300 sedan about 8:30 a.m. after being called to the scene. She had at least one gunshot wound, apparently to the neck or head, and died at the hospital.

Witnesses told investigators the gunman was possibly in a white four-door sedan. No one else was injured in the shooting, but police cordoned off half of the Baymeadows shopping center where the McDonald’s is located as the investigation continued Friday morning.

Police do not know if the shooting was the result of road rage or if the victim knew the suspect. Police have a vague description of the gunman from witnesses, possibly a heavy-set black male, Musser said.

The owner/operator of that McDonald’s, Jose Hernandez, issued a statement offering thoughts and prayers for the victim’s family and loved ones.

“We are working with law enforcement as part of this ongoing investigation,” Hernandez said. “Our biggest priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants.”

Anyone with information can contact the Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500 or First Coast Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-8477 (845-TIPS) to remain anonymous and be eligible for rewards. Or email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org or rewards@fccrimestoppers.com.

2 indicted in separate New Orleans child rape cases

Two New Orleans men have been indicted on first-degree rape charges, accused in separate cases of sexually assaulting girls younger than 13.

Charles E. Martin, 41, was indicted Thursday (Aug. 9) on two counts of first-degree rape. He is accused of raping the same girl in his home between Dec. 13, 2005, and Dec. 13, 2012, according to District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro's office.

The girl was between 6 and 12 when the alleged assaults took place. She was 18 when she reported the alleged incidents to police after she was located as a runaway in December.

Criminal District Judge Robin Pittman increased Martin's $30,000 bond to $125,000 after the indictment was read.

The grand jury on Thursday also indicted Harold "Red" McEwen on one count of first-degree rape.

McEwen is accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl at a New Orleans East home sometime between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30, 2017, according to Cannizzaro's office. The girl first reported the alleged incident to authorities at her school.

McEwen was arrested May 9. His $47,000 bond was increased to $100,000 after the indictment was read.

So far this year, 12 people have been indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree rape involving a child, according to Cannizzaro's office.

First-degree rape carries an automatic sentence of life in prison upon conviction.

Assistant District Attorney Naomi Jones presented both cases to the grand jury.

Court records show the Orleans Public Defenders office is representing Martin. The office generally does not comment on open cases. McEwen's attorney, Clayton Schnyder, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Police trying to ID man who’s been exposing himself on porches in St. Paul

    August 10, 2018

St. Paul police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who has exposed himself several times.

He went on a porch in the Hamline-Midway area on April 6 about 1 a.m., where he knocked on the door and a resident of the 1200 block of Blair Avenue saw him masturbating and looking through a window, said Sgt. Mike Ernster, a St. Paul police spokesman, on Friday.

Residents in that block of Blair Avenue have continued to report seeing the man through the summer, in people’s yards and looking through windows, Ernster said.

There have also been similar reports of a man exposing himself in Frogtown, and police believe cases in the 800 block of Carroll Avenue also may be connected.

On July 14, a woman reported she saw a man masturbating on her porch about 1 a.m.; it had happened days before, too, she told police.

On Aug. 6 at 11:15 p.m., a woman in the 800 block of Carroll Avenue reported a man was on her porch staring in the window and appeared to be masturbating.

“We have tried extensively to catch this guy, but now we’re asking for the public’s help to identify him or, if anyone sees him in that area, to please call us,” Ernster said. “Our concern is that his behavior could escalate.”

Police ask anyone with information to call the sex-crimes unit at 651-266-5685.

Boyfriend of missing woman arrested in her burning death

    August 10th 2018

    CLAIBORNE COUNTY, MS (WLBT) -

An arrest has been made in the disappearance and death of a Jefferson County woman.

The body of Rosie Lee Oliver was recovered last weekend in Claiborne County. Travis Kelly of Port Gibson is now charged by Jefferson and Claiborne counties with her abduction and death.

A charred area of grass and weeds is in the spot outside of Port Gibson off Frazier Road, where investigators say a hiker found Oliver's body beaten, stabbed and set on fire. According to authorities, her boyfriend, Kelly, is responsible for the attack.

Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker said the 43-year-old was hit repeatedly in the face and head, with multiple stab wounds to her neck.

The mother of five was discovered around 10 a.m. Saturday, one day after her 16-year-old son reported her missing.

He told Jefferson County officers that his mother was last seen with Kelly Thursday night at her Phillips Road home in Lorman. Officials said Kelly was staying there.

"There was a lot of evidence at the crime scene that would easily connect him to let him know that we were able to determine that the person from the vehicle that he was in has been to this location," said Sheriff Walker.

Claiborne County authorities questioned Kelly, picking him up on a previous domestic violence and aggravated assault warrant in Port Gibson.

The 29-year-old denied knowing Oliver's whereabouts.

The joint investigation by Jefferson and Claiborne counties uncovered evidence at the crime scene.

"It was established that he was with her," said Claiborne County Sheriff Frank Davis. "He had previous arrests for domestic violence charges from talking to some people in the community, including assault on his mother."

Claiborne County investigators said Oliver's burned body was found less than five miles from Kelly's family home near Port Gibson.

He is charged in Claiborne County with first degree murder and arson.

His arraignment was held Thursday, where he is being held on $400,000 bond.

Kelly is charged with kidnapping in Jefferson County and is awaiting arraignment

Calumet Heights dance instructor charged with sexually assaulting 2 teens, making recording

    August 10, 2018

    CHICAGO (WLS) --
Chicago dance studio owner Maurice Fulson is charged with sexually assaulting two teenagers and recording the assaults on camera.

Fulson, 44, was in court Friday afternoon and is being held without bond. A judge cited his prior criminal history which includes sex crimes that date back to the 1990s. Back in 2001, he was charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

A Chicago dance studio owner is charged with sexually assaulting two teenagers and recording the assaults on camera.

Police say Fulson has had over 30 arrests, including 11 felonies, since 1991.

Prosecutors say the charges involve students ages 15 and 16. They say the inappropriate sexual contact began with the 16-year-old in June 2016 and it ended last December.

Fulson allegedly recorded some of their 15 encounters.

He is facing criminal sexual assault and child porn charges.

The alleged underage victims include students at his Calumet Heights dance studio, Final Phaze Performance Dance Troupe, located in the 1700 block of East 87th Street.

Right now prosecutors say there are five other open cases involving Fulson and minors at his dance studio.

Parents of students at Final Phaze spoke out out in support of dance instructor Maurice Fulson Friday.

One parent said she doesn't believe the accusations.

"We all trust our kids around him," said the mother.

Because of the charges, the board of directors of Final Phaze has removed Fulson as their CEO.

"We were devastated to hear the allegations and we do not support any act of violence against any person whether youth or adults," said Angela Hongo, Final Phaze Board of Directors.

"He deserves as much punishment that the state will allow, that the court will allow, he deserves every bit of it," said Danielle Bonds who works in the area.

"What can you say, you never really know anybody well enough. Especially if you come over here and you just do business, and at the end of the day you just go where you go, you don't really get a chance to know anybody too well," said Yoel Harris who works near the dance studio.

Some believe there could be even more victims.
"If you have young ladies who are scared to voice it or scared to tell or embarrassed, it could take forever," said Bonds.

According to Chicago Public Schools, Fulson taught students on at least three occasions with an after school dance program through an outside vendor. CPS is not aware of any allegations involving their students.

Final Phaze board members say the dance troupe still plans to take part in the Bud Billiken Parade Saturday.

"It seems very unfair to punish them for something that someone may have or may not have done in their personal life. This does not affect the children, you are only punishing them," said Hongo.

Fulson is due back in court on August 29.

McDonald's shooting victim dies; police say ex-boyfriend was shooter

    Aug 9, 2018

The young woman shot Wednesday outside her job at the McDonald’s in Central Park in Fredericksburg died Thursday, police confirmed.

Kentroyia Fletcher, 19, of Fredericksburg, was pronounced dead at Mary Washington Hospital. Police said she was shot multiple times by a former boyfriend, 22-year-old Anthony William Ellis. Police said Ellis committed suicide later Wednesday in Spotsylvania County.

The victim’s mother announced the death on Facebook Thursday afternoon, posting that the victim “was with God now fly high RIP.” But police said they spoke with hospital staff after the posting and were told the victim remained on life support.

But by Thursday evening, city police spokeswoman Aimee Lynch confirmed that Fletcher had indeed passed.

According to affidavits for search warrants filed in Fredericksburg Circuit Court, the woman was shot “four or five times” at close range in the parking lot of McDonald’s. It was not made clear in court records how long it had been since Ellis and the victim dated or what he may have been upset about.

The shooting took place shortly after 2 p.m. in front of multiple witnesses, police said. The suspect then left the McDonald’s in a black GMC Yukon XL that belonged to the victim’s father.

That vehicle was found less than an hour later on Woodford Street in the city, but the suspect was not in it. Police later learned that the suspect had stolen a Chevrolet Silverado from nearby Winchester Street and continued his attempted getaway.

City police got a tip at 6:45 p.m Wednesday that the Silverado was on Garfield Street in Spotsylvania. After responding there, police heard a gunshot in the woods between Allison and Clay streets and found Ellis with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The search warrants filed Thursday by Fredericksburg Detective Wayne Hunnicutt allowed police to search phones recovered during the investigation for possible text messages or emails between Ellis and Fletcher.

Police also obtained permission to search the GMC Yukon XL. Two phones, a cartridge casing, shoes and fingerprints were among the items recovered.

Ellis has had some recent legal problems, but nothing nearly as bad as what happened Wednesday. He was convicted of grand larceny credit card fraud and other charges last year in Fredericksburg Circuit Court and served some jail time.

He also had a preliminary hearing scheduled for next month in Spotsylvania on other theft-related charges.

Another savage murdering raping predator being released from his cage. BOLO.

Ohio Serial Killer Released from Prison

    OAN Newsroom
    UPDATED 7:03 AM PT — Fri. August 10, 2018

After two decades behind bars, one of Ohio’s most notorious serial killers and a member of the murderous ‘Evil Brothers’ duo is being released from prison to the world he once terrified.

59-year-old Nathaniel Cook was granted release from prison Thursday, following a plea agreement made in 2000.

Cook and his older brother Anthony sparked terror in Toledo between 1980 and 1981, murdering at least nine people and raping multiple women.

Anthony was arrested in 1981, but it wasn’t until 17-years later when DNA connected the brothers to numerous homicides across the region.

A plea agreement was formed by the defense and the state of Ohio stating the brothers would be forced to confess to their crimes.

Anthony confessed to nine homicides, while Nathaniel admitted to taking part in three.

The agreement brought closure and resolution to the families of the victims with Anthony serving life in prison, however, the arrangement required the court to release Nathaniel after serving 20-years.

Ohio’s Lucas County Judge Linda Jennings said she was reluctant to grant the release, but was bound to by law.

“Although I never would have agreed to it, I am, however, forced to comply with the agreement entered into by my predecessor, the state of Ohio, the defendant, and the defense council,” stated the judge.

Following his release Thursday, Cook was moved to a work release facility.

He will now stay under court supervision for the next five years and is required to wear an electronic GPS monitor for 12-months.

Jennings warned him of the consequences if he does not strictly follow through with the court order.

“Mr. Cook, if you violate one condition of community control, if you violate any laws, if you leave the state of Ohio without the permission of the court or your supervising probation officer, you will do the balance of your sentence in a state institution and I will not hesitate to send you back if you violate the conditions of community control,” said Judge Jennings.

Cook must also complete sex offender, mental health, and substance abuse assessments and treatments.

He will also be classified as a sexual predator and must register his address every 90-days wherever he lives, works or goes to school for the rest of his life.

Suuuure he will, the list will get longer. Unless a relative of a victim deems it worth the sacrifice to protect some one else family. Quite sad really.

Not trying to put you on the spot so to speak, but your comments are interesting. Do you know where I can find out more about this ghost DNA in blacks? We had a friend over, yesterday, and the subject of where blacks came from was brought up. Never heard of ghost DNA before.

Glad you found that but make sure you research credible objective sites and not some extreme liberal or right wing interpretation of this...…

….what I'm getting at is this...……..I'm willing to accept reality for whatever it is regardless of what I want or hope to be true. The scientific method is the best process humans have come up with to understand ourselves and our environment around us...…………...I never want my ideology on any subject supersede or conflict with the reality of evidence as scrutinized through the scientific method.

The great Harvard biologist E. O. Wilson (worlds expert on ants...…...see Nova documentary "Lord of the Ants")…………..discovered a link between behavior and DNA.....that behavior or in the case of humans a collective behavior known as culture is genetically downstream from the DNA variant mapping of species.....

He called his book "Sociobiology"...……..and his book stated that link can be traced not only in humans but clear down to...…….well you guessed it.........ants...….

When he first published this book he was blasted by the scientific community in the fact that it had the potential to wide open up interpretations of his findings to racism and was suppressed in the general public.....

20 to 30 years after that publication the science is in...…..and Wilson was right on the mark and his book is consider the standard of genetic behavioral analysis in the scientific community of behavior today. However, it has never risen to any prominence within the general public much to the fears of those who think all humans are blank slate paint jobs that can be conditioned to emulate the same behavior patterns. Wilson makes no reference to race in his book, only that DNA variants of natural selection from environmental pressures will manifest itself in social behavior...….

Regardless, if anything I would ever say about the variant of racial.... IQ means...……..or behavior could ever be referred or revised in a manner that would demonstrate my observation to be wrong I would be willing to change my conclusions because...……...once again the science of reality is my guiding light not what I want or wish to be true.

But at this very point in time I'm inclined to draw the conclusion that while Blacks are humans they are a genetic variant to Asians and Whites that compromises their ability to function responsibility and in social accountably in modern 1st world societies...……..science is beginning to show specific evidence of this variance among races which social scientists must accept in determining their own assessments of racial behavior in society......and our current statistical results of crime and other Black culture issues in society appears to demonstrate that we are different humans.......……

Now there are exceptions and there is enough racial mixing of at least US Blacks to place some gray overlap in these conclusions but the fact remains...

….Africans are best adapted to the environment in which we found them...……...not the environment we brought them to...……..and when you see after 50 years of full civil rights that 81% of Black households are on some form of government assistance...……..3 to 5% of the US total population committing 50% of all violent crimes are Black males between 18-30 years old...…….and an education performance gap of Blacks to Whites that continues after every form of financial and environmental stimulus can be thrown at it...…and an overall Black culture that is anti-rules, anti-education anti-white social authority anti-anything good for a modern society to function...….…...then you might have to admit that institutional racism of White society just might not be the sole reason if any at all that the Black race just can't get it together in a Western culture...……

….Its seem that Northern Asians (slightly higher mean IQ than Whites) with far less social programs and less time in the US with more cultural and language barriers don't have this problem...………

What is the culture of Asians in America?...………..study hard in school, work hard in small businesses.....save money, mind your own business and keep improving. Very similar to the Protestant work ethic values of many early settlers in the US... behaviors that are highly correlated to high IQ and less violent tendencies.

What is the culture of Blacks in America?...……...fight teachers and chase White girls in school, work the streets for criminal enterprise gangs...…….posture and rap about muh dick and whores...…..spend spend spend on face grills, car rimes and bling everywhere for dats look at me posturing...….nothing of value...…….and when left to their own replicate a Haiti or Congo...….behaviors that are highly correlated to low IQ coupled with violent tendencies

Someday we are going to have to face this fact or collapse our society in fear of being labeled racists...…………..we've already lost great parts of our inner cities to 3rd world savage behavior as it is...……………

I rest my case for now and appeal to anyone with evidence to the contrary that could enlighten me to being wrong about the whole thing....

Suspect Charged In Brooklyn Subway Slashing Due In Court

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police say a suspect accused in a slashing at a Brooklyn subway station has been arrested.

Isaiah Thompson, 22, has been charged with assault, according to police. He is due in court on Thursday.

Police say surveillance images show Thompson inside the Jay Street A and C subway stop on the evening of July 24.

Investigators say he was at the station in downtown Brooklyn when he got into an argument with a 49-year-old man. At some point, police say Thompson took out a knife, slashed the man on his arm and then ran off.

A tip led to his arrest on Wednesday.

It’s not Thompson’s first run-in with police, CBS2’s Janelle Burrell reported. Detectives say he was seen riding outside of a subway train, hanging onto the car just outside the doors of a C train in Brooklyn last month.

Witnesses say he subway surfed from the Clinton-Washington station to the next stop at Lafayette Avenue, stunning straphangers on board.

“One hand down and one hand like this riding,” witness Matt Beary said on July 8. “My thought was I hope he’s going to be OK. The woman next to me had her hand over her mouth in shock.”

Thompson, who is from Brooklyn, was arrested four days later in connection with that incident.

Animal Rescue Says Pit Bull Dumped in South L.A. Died After Suffering Physical, Sexual Abuse

An animal rescue group is calling for an investigation after a pit bull who was adopted two weeks ago died from what animal advocates believe was physical and sexual abuse after being found injured in South Los Angeles on Monday.

The 5-year-old dog, Cargo, was dumped in front of a house on the 200 block of West 85th Street in the Florence neighborhood, according to Dianty Marquez of Ghetto Rescue Ffoundation, an Anaheim Hills-based animal nonprofit associated with police in the great L.A. area.

A resident who wished to remain anonymous said neighbors reported seeing two African-American men who "dropped it off there and just left." The woman said she couldn't get ahold of any city or county animal control officials to respond, so she reached out to Ghetto Rescue.

Video Marquez took when she arrived at the scene shows the pooch was clearly suffering. "Can you feel this?" Marquez is heard asking as she pets her.

"Head down, she had a rope tied to her neck and she wasn't going anywhere," Marquez told KTLA.

Marquez was able to get Cargo into her car and rushed her to emergency veterinary care.

"That's when we got word that there had been some trauma in her vaginal area," Marquez said, "and they made her as comfy as they could."

But by Tuesday morning, the pit bull had taken a turn for the worse. "She passed because she had some type of blunt force trauma and it caused her aorta to rupture," Marquez said.

"We come across a lot of different abuse cases and it's definitely one of those I'm not going to forget," Marquez said. "It's going to stick with me."

In a Facebook post about the ordeal, the rescue said Cargo hadn't suffered any scraped or abrasions, and "other than her vagina trauma nothing was obviously wrong."

"The only thing we can be thankful for is she did not die on the sidewalk alone," the post states.

The dog was microchipped, and Ghetto Rescue took that information and began investigating.

The organization learned she was adopted from Orange County Animal Care on July 23 during a free adoption event after being in the shelter for three months. But the phone number and address given at the time of adoption apparently were not current.

O.C. Animal Care released the following statement in response to the abuse claims:

“OC Animal Care staff is aware of a situation with a dog, 'Valerie,' recently adopted from our shelter. Our staff and volunteers are deeply saddened to learn of her passing and the alleged circumstances involving her death. Valerie was with us for three months and was loved by many.

Although this incident occurred outside of our jurisdiction and we are not the investigating agency, we are working with the local authorities in Los Angeles regarding this case. OC Animal Care is providing them all the information we have about Valerie and will continue to assist in their ongoing investigation.

The OC Animal Care shelter does not discriminate against those wishing to adopt unless they are suspected of or have been convicted of animal offenses. We utilize information about investigations from our own animal control as well as other law enforcement agencies to make this determination. We take the safety of all animals in our care seriously and, as a result of the circumstances surrounding Valerie’s death, the individual who adopted Valerie is now ineligible for future adoptions at our shelter."

Animal advocates say the case is an example of the dangers of giving dogs and cats away. Because animal shelters in Southern California are usually operating at or near capacity, they often offer low-cost or free adoptions to get the animals into homes.

Anyone with information on the case can contact the Los Angeles Police Department's Animal Cruelty Task Force at 213-486-0450.

Jasper Co. woman found dead; boyfriend confesses to killing with ax

    Aug 08, 2018

JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) - A Jasper County woman was found dead in her backyard Tuesday after her boyfriend confessed to killing her with an ax. The details are gruesome.

At about 3:00 a.m., the man rode his bike into the businesses area of Point South and told two Jasper County deputies he had done something many would find unthinkable.

"He told them he thought he had just killed his wife," said Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls III.

56-year-old William Outler Jr. pointed the deputies to his home off Heyward Road.

"They went to the scene and sure enough, found his wife there, she had been killed with an ax," Sauls said.

Chantis Greene, 39, was lying dead in the yard with an injury to her head.

"We determined that she had been hit three times, one time with the side of the ax, and then twice with the sharp end of the ax," said Sauls.

Jasper County Sheriff Chris Malphrus says the incident was a result of domestic violence.

For more than two decades, South Carolina has ranked in the top 10 states for the number of women killed by men.

For the past six years, it's been in the top five.

"I've been coroner for pushing 40 years, so I've seen a lot of traumatic deaths," Sauls said. "But I can tell you, it never fails to kind of make me sick, because it's just so unnecessary, so unbelievable, that somebody could have that kind of emotion in them, to take a life, period. But to take a life in that matter, it's just kind of unbelievable."

Outler was arrested and charged with murder. He is currently in the Jasper County Detention Center without bond.

Family: Jacksonville McDonald’s drive-thru victim a devoted mother

Three little boys are mourning the loss of their mother while Jacksonville police continue searching for the gunman who killed her Friday in the drive-thru of a McDonald’s on the city’s Southside.

Jamie Marie Roque, 32, of Jacksonville was shot at least once about 8:30 a.m. as she ordered food while in the driver’s seat of her car in the drive-thru lane of the fast-food restaurant at 8590 Baymeadows Road. Family members identified Roque as the victim although the Sheriff’s Office hadn’t released her name. No arrests were reported Saturday.

The woman died about an hour later after being taken to Memorial Hospital, said Sgt. Marc Musser of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit.

Her aunt, Rose Mary Lopez, told the Times-Union that Roque was devoted to her sons — two of whom are autistic. She also took care of her mother

“She was a beautiful person. She loved life and her family,” Lopez said of her niece. Roque worked long hours as a hotel desk clerk, and spent what free time she had with her family, she said.

“She was all about her kids and her mom, who has lost it over this,” Lopez said of the grief that has engulfed their family. “There wasn’t a bad, mean bone in that child. This is all so crazy.”

Lopez said she last spoke to Roque by phone about two weeks ago. Rogue seemed happy as they chatted and caught up with each other’s lives.

“She was just a great person, a loving person,” Lopez said as tears she had been resisting began to flow.

Sgt. Musser said witnesses described the gunman possibly as a heavy-set black man with a low haircut. He fled in a white four-door car eastbound on Baymeadows Road after the shooting, he said.

“We’re looking at all aspects at this point. Obviously, by the nature of the crime it does lend some credibility that there may have been a relationship [between the victim and the gunman] but it’s too early for me to say there was at this point,” Musser said.

Musser also said it was possible witnesses left before officers arrived, and detectives are asking them to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives were checking security camera video from the restaurant and neighboring businesses in an effort to identify the man, he said.

Friends of Roque posted public Facebook messages of love and support to her family Saturday.

One post said simply, “R.I.P. beautiful.” Another said “u will be missed by so many I Love You AND I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN IN HEAVEN. #JUSTICEFORJAMIE”

Jackson confessed to his mom, afraid his girlfriend was dead

LUBBOCK, Texas - An arrest warrant describes the basic details leading up to a deadly stabbing Monday morning in Lubbock. Justin Deshone Jackson, 29, of Lubbock was arrested for murder.

Police were called after midnight to an apartment complex in the 5800 block of 24th Street.

“When officer arrived on scene, Shranda Carson was found to be unresponsive on the kitchen floor with what appeared to be a stab wound and was covered in a large amount of blood,” the warrant for Jackson’s arrest said.

Carson was taken to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

According to a witness quoted in the warrant, “Carson and Jackson had been arguing during the previous day about Jackson having another girlfriend.”

The witness told police that she heard Jackson threaten to kill Carson.

When police arrived, Jackson was no longer there.

“Jackson was located at his mother’s residence after he received a ride from his new girlfriend,” the warrant said.

The warrant quoted Jackson’s mother as saying he stabbed his girlfriend and he was afraid she was dead.

Jackson’s booking sheet listed his bond as $500,000.

Photos Released Of Suspect At Large In Arapahoe County Double Shooting

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – A suspect named Anthony “Angel” Darby is at large after a shooting at a residence in unincorporated Arapahoe County Thursday morning that left one man dead and a woman hurt. Police are asking people to be on the lookout for the car the 28-year-old suspected shooter may be driving.

“This was clearly a domestic disturbance. (The victim) and (the shooter) had a relationship and we believe he was here specifically to target the people in that residence,” Arapahoe County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Julie Brooks said.

The shooting happened at 8:30 a.m. at 1100 South Clinton Street. That’s not far from the Aurora city line.

Police said the vehicle Darby may be driving is a red Hyundai Elantra 4-door sedan with the Colorado license plate 885-YXH. It has a sticker that says “I Love My Pitbull” right above the license plate. Anyone who sees the car is asked to call 911 and is warned not to approach the vehicle or the suspect.

The woman was taken to the hospital and her condition isn’t known. The man apparently died at the scene.

Brooks said the shooting is related to a report of domestic disturbance in the area that deputies responded to earlier in the morning.

“We came out on a domestic disturbance. The suspect had fled by the time we arrived. There were minor injuries. I don’t believe anyone was taken to the hospital at that time,” she said. “Investigators were actively looking for a suspect then when we had the shots fired here.”

Brooks said their office isn’t revealing at this time what the relationship was between the woman who was hurt and Darby.

Family of man killed in double shooting: He died a hero

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. -- A man killed in a double shooting on Thursday in Arapahoe County is being called a hero.

The family of Jacob Emerson has learned their loved one died while saving a woman’s life. That woman’s future is uncertain. The shooting left her hospitalized in critical condition.

Jacob’s mom, Elizabeth Emerson, said her son was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He was visiting a woman he just started dating and was unaware her ex-husband would be on what friends have described as a homicidal crusade.

Jacob Emerson, 25, was found shot dead in an apartment in the 1100 block of South Clinton Street on Thursday morning, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.

A woman named CJ, who Jacob had been dating for about a month, was also shot. She taken to a hospital. Her roommate, who also in the apartment, was not injured.

“He was defending two young ladies,” Elizabeth Emerson said.

Elizabeth Emerson said it was early in the morning when CJ’s recently divorced ex-husband showed up with a tomahawk-style ax.

That man has been identified as Anthony “Angel” Darby.

“Angel had slit my son’s hand,” Elizabeth Emerson said.

Deputies were called for the assault, but Darby could not be found when deputies arrived. Deputies said they offered a hotel to the victims but they refused.

Darby returned with a gun about 90 minutes after deputies left.

“The world really is missing a lot from [Jacob],” a friend said.

Friends of Jacob Emerson said they will miss his smile and laugh most. The 25-year-old from Parker stayed busy working in landscaping and for a moving company.

An exact motive behind the shooting might never be known as the suspect is dead.

Deputies, hunting for Darby on Thursday, say he was found at an apartment in Denver with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Jacob’s friends have set up a GoFundMe to help the family pay for funeral expenses.

Anyone who has been victimized by domestic violence should call 800-799-SAFE. Advocates are available 24 hours a day to help create a safety plan.
