The weather probably has them as confused than we are.
They are beautiful to watch.I haven't been lucky enough to
see any this year at all.
This happens quite often in my area during this time of year. This year I watched one flock circle for about an hour, then just headed off south.
We decided they were riding some kind of wind up-draft to get some altitude.
this year - for the first time i can remember - the geese have been flying north. i couldnt believe it when i first saw them, but since then lots of others have follwed their course.
can anyone explain why they would go north in winter and not south?
Al Qaeda, Al Qaeda .. BEWARE! A few months ago they didn't exist .. now they're EVERYWHERE!
ya s p these went east , heard somewhere
that lots of birds were going the wrong way
birds go the wrong way every year. not in enough quantity to be a concern unless you are the confused bird. this is what causes delight among birdwatchers - rare bird sightings.
we've had a tundra swan so far. saw a V of snow geese going north a couple weeks ago. mostly, it's the same ole same ole around here.
We have been watching the geese fly over for many years, but this year they are confused. They are flying north and east, not south like normal... we saw this last week. Earlier we had geese doing the regular south fly, but last week they were messed up bad.
Hillbilly/SWR, it would be nice to know what area you two live in.
Electromagnetic changes in the earth that precede earthquakes can confuse migrating birds and homing pigeons so if you guys live on the West Coast or along the Mississippi Fly Way your observations could be important in regards to EQ's. G

Just a thought, but the Shuttle is up, maybe some type of experiments going on...
On our way back to St. Louis from our Texas trip two weeks ago we went clear across Arkansas on I-40.
About an hour east of Little Rock we saw what had to have been several THOUSAND geese FLYING NORTH. Wave after wave of "V's" came over. The sky was almost dark because of the numbers. There were six to eight "V's" flying parallel to each other and they stretched from southern horizon to northern horizon. I first noticed them probably 3 to 5 miles before we actually got to them and then continued to peek in my rear view mirror after we passed the flyway.
I have never in my 46 years seen anything like it.

We've seen tons of geese flying north. Everyone's been remarking on it. Maybe they can sense something and are bugging out.![]()

All of the geese I've seen have been flying East. I've seen at least a few thousand so far. What's up with that? I live in Northwest Arkansas so there! Maybe Arkansas Geese don't have a clue. I don't know. But it sure is weird.
Sign of the times. Babylon (confusion) is in full swing, even with the birds, evidently.....
