    Poroshenko declared
a full loss of control over Donbass

Ukraine has lost control over Donbass, because of the blockade region,
said Petro Poroshenko. He said that the war most affected the Ukrainian
    industry

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko believes that due to the blockade
of Donbas, Ukraine has completely lost control over the territory.
He stated this at a meeting of the regional development Council.

“As a result of the blockade, Ukraine has lost its influence
in its own territory. At the same time dealt a blow
to domestic energy, metallurgy, budget”, — he said
(quote published in Twitter of the President).

Poroshenko expressed the opinion that Russia has an impact on
the situation in Donbas is not only supporting militias breakaway
    Donetsk and Lugansk national republics.

“The Russian military threat comes not only from the occupied areas
of Donbass, it’s hanging over the border line with Russia”, — considers
    the President of Ukraine.

Poroshenko says that in the war most affected industry, however,
according to him, she gradually begins to recover. He said that
“a loss of up to 20% of the industrial potential of the country”.

Commenting on the decision of the International monetary Fund (IMF)
to postpone the discussion of anti-crisis program of Ukraine
Poroshenko said that Kiev in the near future expects to receive
    next tranche of the loan.

He said that March 20 will hold talks Minister for Finance,
the National Bank of Ukraine and the Prime Minister.
I’m going to participate in order to correct the results was caused
by the irresponsible behavior of Ukrainian politicians… We must unite
together, to soon to get the tranche,” — said the head of Ukraine
    (quote by UNN).
Answering the question of how the authorities use the funds
allocated by the IMF, Poroshenko said that the money
is stored in foreign exchange reserves.
All heard how irresponsible politicians argue that
the IMF money is eaten, stolen, or misused.
It is a solid total and irresponsible lie.
Every penny received by Ukraine from the IMF,
kept carefully in the foreign exchange reserves
    of the state
and works on the stability of the national
    monetary unit
,” — said the President of Ukraine
    (the quote on “112 Ukraine”).

Trade blockade of the DNI and LC lasts from the end of December 2016.
The soldiers of the Ukrainian volunteer battalions block railway
communication. Since mid-February, the Ukrainian authorities
introduced emergency measures in the energy sector of the country.

As blockade of Donbass was hit on the Empire of Rinat Akhmetov

In early March, the President of Ukraine said that proof of “Russian occupation”
of Donbass is the decision of the authorities of the breakaway republics
to introduce external management at Ukrainian enterprises.

Vandals defeated the next Jewish cemetery
    near Odessa

    03/20/17 antifa
    https://translate.googleusercontent....lGCMhzut1-Un9w
    (Google Translate)

In Ukraine, another pogrom of Jewish graves. At the Jewish cemetery
in the Odessa region, the vandals smashed and turned the monuments
of those killed during the Great Patriotic War.

This was reported in the social network by the director of the international
organization Ukrainian Jewish Committee Edward Dolinsky, citing data
    from Odessa.

"Odessa region continues to" please. "Director of the Odessa Holocaust
museum Pavel Kozlenko said that the wind, which in January 2017
twice broke a monument to Holocaust victims in Belgorod-Dnestrovsky,
apparently also flew to the Jewish cemetery in Berezovka.

Pavel Kozlenko together with volunteers From Odessa came to Berezovka
and found that there were practically no cemeteries, monuments were
broken and turned upside down, "Dolinsky wrote.

He also posted photographs showing that several monuments
    are badly damaged.

On March 8, Dolinsky reported that a memorial to the victims of
the Holocaust had been completely destroyed at the Jewish cemetery
    in Savran.

"They continue to mock the memory of the victims of the Holocaust."
Recently, a wall at the memorial to the victims of the Holocaust was
completely destroyed at the new Jewish cemetery in Savran,
Pavel Kozlenko said in his turn.

However, the local police expressed the opinion that
no one defile the monument - its destruction occurred
"from old age and natural causes."

Note that in early February a similar act of vandalism was committed
in Belgorod-Dnestrovsky. February 7 in the city was found the fact
of damage to the monument to the victims of the Holocaust, established
at the scene of the execution of the Jews of the city.

Attention is drawn to the fact that the memorial plate was damaged
for the second time since the beginning of the year.
    The first time
the destruction of the monument was discovered at the end of January,
the memorial was restored to the International Day of Commemoration
of the Victims of the Holocaust.

Local authorities claimed that the destruction
    occurred due to natural causes.

Meanwhile, the monument was installed not so long ago - in 2005,
it was installed on the initiative of the Jewish Fund of Ukraine
    and the local Jewish community.

    Russia will transfer three submarines
armed with Kalibr cruise missiles to the Black Sea

    Monday, March 20, 2017 2:59:00 PM
    http://uawire.org/news/russia-will-t...-the-black-sea

In 2017, the Russian military will relocate three Varshavyanka -class
submarines, armed with Kalibr cruise missiles, from the Baltic Sea
to the Black Sea, Interfax reports.

"By the end of the year, we plan to complete the tests and transfer from
the Baltic to the Black Sea Fleet three other submarines of the same type:
the Krasnodar, the Kolpino and the Velikiy Novgorod," the Black Sea Fleet
    information department reported.

According to the department, the first three Varshavyanka-class
submarines built for the Black Sea Fleet, the Novorossiysk, the Rostov-
na-Donu and the Stary Oskol have already arrived at the site
    of permanent deployment.

The crews of these submarines took part in the solemn Sunday rally
dedicated to the 111th anniversary of the Russian Submarine Forces.

The Varshavyanka-class submarines are also known as Project 636.3
subs, belonging to the third generation of Projects 636 and 877.
They are considered some of the world’s most silent submarines,
earning them the Western nickname “black hole.”

Previously Korrespondent.net reported that three Project 22800 class
missile ships, also known as Karakurt corvettes, will be built in Crimea.

The construction will be conducted at the nationalized More Shipbuilding
Yard in Feodosia from 2018 to 2020.

All Ukrainian banks owned by Russia
    put up for sale

    Monday, March 20, 2017 10:01:59 AM
    http://uawire.org/news/all-ukrainian...t-up-for-sale#

During a broadcast on the Inter TV channel, Acting Deputy Governor
of the National Bank of Ukraine Kateryna Rozhkova reported that
all the banks with state-owned Russian capital in Ukraine
have been put up for sale.

"We know for certain that all banks with state-owned
Russian capital that are currently operating in Ukraine
are negotiating a potential sale. As a regulator of the
banking market, we believe that this is the best way
to leave the Ukrainian market, as in today’s conditions
it is impossible to talk about the further development
of these banks on the territory of Ukraine. It is a civilized
    way to sell the banks,"
    the representative of the regulator
    said.
She added that to date, these banks have been recapitalized
and have enough assets to meet requirements towards their customers.

At the same time, Rozhkova said that under the guarantee of the
Guarantee Fund for Individual Deposits, in the event of the closure
of these banks, 8.5 billion hryvnia ($320 million USD) out of 21 billion
hryvnia ($780 million USD) in individual deposits in banks with
Russian state capital would be released.

"Today, about 21 billion hryvnia (($780 million USD) of deposits
are concentrated in banks with state Russian capital, of which 8.5 billion
hryvnia ($320 million USD) are guaranteed by the Fund.

The sanctions applied to these banks are aimed primarily at
    protecting these investors," she said.

On March 16, Ukraine imposed sanctions for a period of one year
in relation to PJSC "Sberbank", PJSC "VS Bank", PJSC "Joint Stock
Commercial Industrial and Investment Bank" (Prominvestbank),
PJSC "VTB Bank", and PJSC "BM Bank", due to their ownership
by the Russian state. The sanctions provide for restrictions on
the withdrawal of capital outside the country by affiliated persons.

^^^ If your Political MOJO is strong, and you can negotiate with IMF
for Ukraine, then you might be awarded a large banking empire soon.

Security Service of Ukraine has started to investigate
European politicians who traveled to the Crimea

    Monday, March 20, 2017 1:04:29 PM
    http://uawire.org/news/sbu-has-alrea...-to-the-crimea

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) will analyze information regarding
politicians from Europe and other countries who travel to the Crimea
and decide whether to impose sanctions against them, as stated by
the Secretary of the NSDC (National Security and Defense Council)
of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, according to his press service.

“The SBU will prepare and submit to the NSDC of Ukraine a list
of officials from the European Parliament, as well as politicians
from European Union countries, CIS, and Latin America
    , which,
according to Russian media reports, arrived on a three-day visit
to the annexed Crimea,” he said.

According to Turchinov, if this information is confirmed at the NSDC
meeting, the question of imposing sanctions against them
    will be considered.

"In addition, information about the participation of Ukrainian citizens
in this propaganda will be analyzed, and if their visits to the Crimea
are confirmed, then criminal proceedings must be opened in accordance
with the current legislation," Turchinov summed up.

Earlier, the Russian media reported that a delegation of around 20 people
arrived in the Crimea, including members of the European Parliament,
as well as politicians from other countries, including those of the European
Union, Serbia, CIS, and Latin America.

    Separatist leaders attend
'Donbas integration ceremony' in the Crimea

    Monday, March 20, 2017 4:03:00 PM
    http://uawire.org/news/in-annexed-cr...ne-into-russia

In the annexed Crimea, a presentation regarding “the integration
of the Donbas into the Russian Federation” was given at the first
conference of the Russia-Donbas Integration Committee which was
held on March 17th at the Livadia Palace in Yalta, as reported by
    Radio Liberty.

The first meeting of the Committee was attended by Igor Carpenter
and Alexander Zakharchenko, the leaders of the LPR (Luhansk People's
Republic) and DPR (Donetsk People's Republic), respectively.

They arrived in the Crimea for the celebration of the third anniversary
of the annexation of the peninsula.

The committee chairman is a Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian
Federation and the deputy chairman is a member of the Russian community
    in the Crimea, Andrey Kozenko.

In January, Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky came to the Crimea to celebrate
the anniversary of the Pereyaslav Rada. Kozenko indicated that he had
created a group within the State Duma to maintain "parliamentary contacts"
with the LDPR (Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics).

At the same time, the idea of the Russia-Donbas Integration Committee
    was allegedly born.

During a meeting of the committee, Kozenko announced that he had
prepared a bill that would abolish the need for labor permits for
"citizens of the DPR and LPR.”

The chairman of the Parliament of the annexed Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov,
proposed the Rossregion Project and within its limits, the full cooperation
of all factions will become possible.

Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky claimed they have nothing to do with Ukraine
anymore, and the leading partner for the so-called republics is the Russian
Federation, in which they hope to enter.

"The last step was the ascension of enterprises from Ukrainian jurisdiction
to ORDLO (separatist-held territories of Ukraine) and the payment
of wages there." The guilty parties are not the groups that
nationalized the enterprises and introduced external management,
making it impossible to supply raw materials and ship products to
the government-controlled territory. But rather the Ukrainian government,
who initiated the blockade until the return of these enterprises back
under the control of the owners," Radio Liberty writes.

Plotnitsky stated that coal supplies are coming from Luhansk to
    the annexed Crimea
    .

Zakharchenko reported that over the past year, the export of goods from
the territory controlled by the DPR faction to Russia "grew by $34 million."
And generally speaking, the Donbas, according to him, has something
    to offer Russian consumers.

According to Zakharchenko, as a result of the transport blockade by
the Ukrainians, the enterprises in the uncontrolled territories of the Donbas
are already switching over to Russian components and raw materials.

On the morning of March 15th, President Petro Poroshenko, during
the opening of the meeting of the NSDC (National Security and Defense
Council of Ukraine), proposed to make a decision on a full stop of transport
with the occupied territories. The NSDC decided to stop the cargo
    movement across the contact line.

Poroshenko stressed that Ukraine will abolish the ban on the movement
of cargo across the line of demarcation if enterprises in the occupied
territories of the Donbas are returned to Ukrainian owners and
    a ceasefire regime will begin.

The closing of the transport routes into the separatist-held territories
of Ukraine does not impact humanitarian supplies.

    Fedcominvest denounces Ukraine's
    politically motivated attackon its Chairman,
    Alekszej Fedoricsev

    3/20, 11:37 AM (Source: GlobeNewswire)
    http://www.teletrader.com/fedcominve...=1490044744304

(UKRAINE) - Fedcominvest will strongly contest the politically motivated
freezing of the Ukrainian assets of the company's Chairman,
Alekszej Fedoricsev. The company is confident that the arbitrary nature
of the State of Ukraine's actions will be uncovered in the appropriate
    courts.

Fedcominvest would like to make it clear that any accusations
of wrongdoing against its Chairman by the controversial and discredited
National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) are strenuously denied
and are part of an ill-informed and politically motivated attack.

This attempt by the State of Ukraine to seize Mr Fedoricsev's assets
has its origins in a series of contracts entered into by the State Food
and Grain Corporation of Ukraine, PJSC (SF&G) to export grain
    from Ukraine to China.

    In 2012, SF&G entered into a US$ 3 billion 'loan-for-grains' contract,
which the Ukrainian Government agreed with the Chinese government,
knowing that the maximum transhipment capacity of their own terminals
was just 2.4 million tonnes per year. From more or less the
commencement of the loan term, China demanded more grain from
Ukraine than could be transhipped through State terminals.

In 2013, demand reached such a level that the SF&G was unable
to perform its obligations to China.

The SF&G therefore sought use of Ukraine's privately owned terminals to
tranship grain. They approached the owner of TIS terminals Mr Fedoricsev,
as TIS terminals are the largest deep-water terminals in Ukraine,
with transhipment capacities of 27 million tonnes per year.

Unaccustomed to using private terminals and abiding by accepted market
practices, SF&G entered into a commercial dispute over a deal made
in Mr Fedoricsev's TIS terminals with a separate company (Lirtavis).

It is important to note that Mr Fedoricsev has no commercial or other
interest in Lirtavis. Despite having no legal interest in the dispute
between SF&G and Lirtavis, the Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities
have now seized the assets of Mr Fedoricsev as part of a wide-ranging
and arbitrary criminal investigation flowing from the dispute.

The ultimate objective of the Ukrainian state's investigations
appear to be to appropriate the privately owned TIS terminals
in order to service the SF&G's growing need for transhipment
    capacity
and meet the current high demand for grain exports.

Only last year, SF&G's Deputy Chairman, Andriy Repko admitted that
the Ukrainian Government needed to build a new grain terminal suitable
for large vessels in order to meet the demand of grain shipments to China.

Their desperation is only exacerbated by the fact that the Chinese Import-
Export bank has already brought arbitration proceedings against Ukraine
    for defaulting on the loan.

Spotting an opportunity to appropriate Mr Fedoricsev's property,
the Ukrainian authorities expanded their criminal investigation against
SF&G into arbitrary and unlawful criminal investigation into Mr Fedoricsev's
companies. They have unjustly pursued key figures at Mr Fedoricsev's
TIS terminals and Mr Fedoricsev himself. This has now culminated in
the unreasonable freezing of Mr Fedorisev's Ukrainian assets.

Fedcominvest is completely confident that these illogical state actions
will be overturned in the appropriate courts. Mr Alekszej Fedoricsev
will of course help the authorities in any way he can.

    Mr Fedoricsev says,
"I am disappointed by the lack of due process and malicious
lies that have been spread about me and my businesses
    in Ukraine.

It is unfathomable to think that I am being punished by
the authorities for giving them the opportunity to meet
their obligations under a loan which is hugely important
    to the Ukrainian state.

It is clear to me that those who invest in Ukraine's infrastructure,
create employment and improve its economy are rewarded
by the State with nothing but contempt.

These arbitrary actions are indicative of a desperate State
which is willing to go to any length to protect itself,
with no regard for its people or economy."

Marco Garzone, Vice President of Fedcominvest, says,
"We are confident that these malicious and cruel actions
taken by the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Bureau will be
proven to be groundless by the appropriate courts.

This absolutely baseless attack by the NABU on our Chairman,
who is a well-respected international businessman, will not
be accepted by Fedcominvest. We will support him completely
    throughout this ordeal."

of Odessa region to countries in the MENA region.

In 2016 Fedcominvest shipped over 5 million tonnes of grain
to countries around the world including, Bangladesh, Malaysia,
    Saudi Arabia and Vietnam.

    2. Alekszej Fedoricsev

Alekszej Fedoricsev is a successful Russian-born businessman.
He is the founder of Fedcominvest, a global export business,
specialising in the trading of sulphur and fertilizers.

After starting his career as a professional footballer for Moscow club
FC Dynamo, Mr Fedoricsev began trading in car parts during the fall
of the Soviet Union. He quickly became a specialist in the business
of logistics, concentrating on transporting and trading in grain and
chemicals including ammonia, phosphates and sulphur.
His company, Fedcominvest, is now a global leader in the field.

    A values-driven and self-made businessman, Mr Fedoricsev's business
ethos is centred on re-investing profits back into his businesses.
This has proven to be a hugely successful model, with his business
interests now spanning across commodities, sport, media, shipping
    and property.

football. Fedcominvest is a sponsor of Monaco FC and Mr Fedoricsev
previously owned a significant stake in FC Dynamo (Moscow).

As part of his commitment to make football accessible to all, he bought
the rights to show football in Russia and allowed fans to watch the matches
    for no charge.

    3. 2012 Loan-For-Grains Contract between the Governments of China and Ukraine

In 2012, the Ukrainian Government entered into a Loan-For-Grains
Contract with the China National Complete Engineering Corporation
("CCEC") under which the Chinese Government agreed to provide
Ukraine with access to $3 billion in credit lines in exchange for supplies
of corn. It was reported that the Export-Import Bank of China ("Eximbank")
agreed to lend this money at six-month LIBOR+4.5% over 15 years
    with a five-year grace period.

The first $1.5-billion tranche of a loan was sent by China's Eximbank
to the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine in 2013.

At the time this agreement was reached the Ukrainian Farm Minister
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk was quoted as stating that Ukraine expected
to supply between 2.0 million to 2.5 million tonnes of maize to China
every year to pay off the $3 billion loan.
    See: https://www.ft.com/content/79bc2174-...8-00144feabdc0http://china.aiddata.org/projects/42559
    4. The dispute between SF&G and Lirtavis

    In 2012, SF&G entered into a US$ 3 billion 'loan-for-grains' contract,
which the Ukrainian Government agreed with the Chinese government,
knowing that the maximum transhipment capacity of their own terminals
was just around 2 million tonnes per year.

From more or less the commencement of the loan term, China demanded
more grain from Ukraine that could be transhipped through State
terminals. In 2013, this demand reached such a level that the SF&G
was unable to perform its obligations under the loan. SF&G therefore
sought use of Ukraine's privately owned TIS terminals to tranship
    their grain.

In order to secure the transhipment services at privately owned terminals
in Odesa region SF&G had to do two things they were unaccustomed
    to doing:
Pay for the privately owned terminals to tranship their grain; and

Pay a portion of the transhipment costs to foreign companies
in the manner of accepted industry practice.

Due to Ukrainian currency restrictions on foreign companies, SF&G were
unable to pay for transhipment directly to the foreign company (which was
Mr Fedoricsev's logistics company Grain-Trans, which provides
informational and commercial support of the transhipment process)
and agreed with TIS terminals' owner, Mr Fedoricsev, that they would pay
the part of transhipment costs to the foreign company once the restrictions
    are lifted.

To facilitate the deal, SF&G secured their obligation to pay for transhipment
with the grain to a third company (Lirtavis), which would prepay
the transhipment costs to Grain-Trans. It is important to note that
Mr Fedoricsev has no commercial or other interest in Lirtavis.
He is, however, the owner of the terminals which SF&G desperately
required to meet demand for grain exports.

To this day, SF&G has not paid the balance of transhipment costs to
Grain-Trans, so Lirtavis has lawfully withheld part-payment of the grain
    to cover this expense.

    5. National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU)

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is a Ukrainian
law enforcement agency founded in October 2014 which investigates
corruption in Ukraine and prepares cases for prosecution.

NABU has investigatory powers although it cannot indict suspects directly
and must pass any evidence of corruption over to the Prosecutor General
    of Ukraine.

NABU was created at the request of the International
    Monetary Fund
    and the European Commission
in return for the relaxation of visa restrictions between
    Ukraine and the European Union.

NABU's funding by the Ukrainian Government is mandated
under US and European Union aid programs.

NABU recently received funding from the UK Department for International
    Development (DFID)
as part of the Good Governance Fund for Eastern
    Europe and the Western Balkans.

The NABU's first 70 detectives only started work on 1 October 2015
and NABU has already been the subject of allegations of corruption
    and ineffectiveness.

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's office has strongly criticised
the bureau's impartiality and President Poroshenko is currently trying
to appoint his choice to be the independent auditor to NABU,
despite the Ukrainian Parliament's backing a different candidate.

In February 2017, the Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugues
Mingarelli expressed concern about proposed amendments to the laws
governing NABU and noted the EU Delegation was 'alarmed' at the state
    of anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine.

    Russia-Hating Regime Change Specialist
    Joins National Security Council

Fiona Hill is an expert in "regime change operations in the former states
    of the Soviet Union"

    Fiona 'Hot War' Hill
There is a Fiona Hill on each side of the Atlantic.

One is joint chief of staff for Prime Minister Theresa May in London.
The other Fiona Hill (lead image, right) is also British. She was appointed
this month to be senior director for Europe and Russia at the National
    Security Council (NSC)
    in Washington.

Between 2006 and 2009 Hill was the Russia desk officer on the National
    Intelligence Council
under President George Bush, then President Barack
    Obama.

The White House announced Hill’s appointment by an anonymous leak
to Foreign Policy magazine on March 2. The leaker claimed Hill had been
selected at least a fortnight earlier by the NSC’s chief of staff Keith Kellogg,
a retired Army lieutenant-general, before Michael Flynn was forced to
resign as the National Security Advisor on February 13; and before
Lieutenant-General H.R. McMaster was put in Flynn’s place on February 17.

The announcement of Hill sandbagged her position, but Hill was nervous
about confirming it. “Hill did not immediately respond to a request for
    comment
    ,” Foreign Policy reported.

Before Hill joined the US intelligence services, she held an operational post
at the Eurasia Foundation; that is a State Department contractor for
regime change operations in the former states of the Soviet Union.

The State Department rationale for the Eurasia Foundation, its establishment
documents show, was “to accelerate and broaden American engagement
in the development of civil societies in the Commonwealth of Independent
    States
.” At the Eurasia Foundation Hill was employed on assignments
devised with the State Department’s Bureau for European and Eurasian
    Affairs
and the US Agency for International Development.

Altogether, the foundation has received $327 million in State Department
grants over the decade, 1993 to 2013. Hill spent 1999 to 2000 at the
foundation, then moved to the Brookings Institution.

Her salary at the think-tank has been paid by Stephen Friedman,
a Goldman Sachs banker who was the chairman of the President’s
Foreign Intelligence Board (PFIAB) between 2005 and 2009.

This month, a few days before her NSC staff appointment was announced,
Hill gave an interview to a New York periodical in which she
    declared war on Russia.

I think we are in a hot war with Russia, not a cold war.
But we have to be careful about the analogy. It’s a more
complex world. There is no set-piece confrontation.
This is no holds barred. The Cold War was a more
disciplined competition, aside from the near blowups
in Berlin and Cuba, where we walked back from the brink.
The Kremlin now is willing to jump over the abyss.
They want to play for the asymmetry.
They see themselves in a period of hot kinetic war.
Also, this is not just two-way superpower. There is China,
the rising powers. I almost see it as like the great power
competition from the time before the Second World War.

Hill’s work in stoking Kremlin regime change schemes during the Obama
Administration and at Brookings with Strobe Talbott, Clifford Gaddy,
and Robert Kagan (husband of Victoria Nuland), was reported here

    Ukraine Asks US
    for 'Major Non-NATO Ally' Status

    13:04 22.03.2017(updated 13:06 22.03.2017)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/20170...raine-us-ally/

Ukraine's parliament passed a resolution on Wednesday, asking
the United States to grant it the status of a major non-NATO ally.

KIEV (Sputnik) — The resolution, addressing US Congress, was backed by
232 lawmakers and cleared the parliament after previously failing to attain
    the required 226 votes.
"In line with the spirit of the Bucharest Memorandum
    [on Security Assurances]
    and the developing strategic
partnership between our states we ask
    the US to consider
a defense agreement with Ukraine and grant it
    the status
    of a major non-NATO ally,"
    the resolution said.

The Ukrainian legislature cited successful military alliances of this kind
between the United States and a number of non-NATO countries,
including Australia, New Zealand and Japan, as an alternative to full
    NATO membership.

In December 2014, Ukraine cancelled its non-aligned status, confirming
its intention to join NATO. Poroshenko said a referendum on NATO
membership would be held by 2020, after all NATO requirements are met.

In February 2017, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko voiced his plan
to hold a referendum on the issue of NATO membership.

Russia forbids money transfers to Ukraine
    through international payment systems

Russian Central bank will publish information that foreign countries imposed
the ban on payment systems registered by the Central Bank

    11:50, 22 March 2017
    http://112.international/finance/rus...ems-15266.html
State Duma adopted the law in the third reading that limits money
transfers from Russian Federation to foreign countries using
    international payment systems, reports Interfax.

According to the amendments, if foreign country imposes a ban
on payment systems operators of which were registered by the Central
Bank of Russian Federation, then cross-border transfers from Russia
to that country can only be done through the operator controlled
    by Russian entities.

These rules will also cover transfers without opening a bank account.

Russian Central bank will publish information on its site that foreign
countries imposed the ban on payment systems registered by
    the Central Bank.

The law will take effect in 30 days after its official publication.
Law’s regulations will cover existing bans, imposed by foreign countries
on payment systems registered in Russia.

The document is aimed to eliminate negative effects of the ban on
the activity of Russian payment systems in Ukraine, according to
    document’s memorandum.

Earlier it was reported that Russia urged Ukraine to provide
    security of Russian banks
. Kremlin expects that the issue will not
be politicized by Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies,
    - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

    NBU comments on Russia's restrictions
    on money transfers to Ukraine

The decision by the Russian Federation to ban money transfers
to Ukraine through the international payment systems without
opening an account will not affect Ukraine’s banking system,
First Deputy Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakov Smoliy
    told UNIAN.

    Economy
    19:50, 22 March 2017
    https://www.unian.info/economics/183...o-ukraine.html

"I do not think it will have an impact on the banking system because
the amount is not insignificant, while Ukrainians are creative enough
to find other ways to transfer money
    ," Smoliy said.

According to the NBU official, over the two months of 2017, some $90
million were transferred to Ukraine from Russia through international
payment systems, while the most popular channels for funds transfers
without opening an account, which will no longer operate, were Western
    Union and MoneyGram.

However, interbank transfers will continue to work.

"If an individual opens a bank account, the inter-bank settlements
are [still] conducted today. On the contrary, now the sender and
the recipient of funds will be identified, and the transfers will become
more transparent. This will contribute to the deshadowing of economy,"
    Smoliy said.

He reminded that the National Bank allows citizens studying or working
in Russia to open accounts in Russian banks.

Smoliy also noted that the decision by the Russian Federation to ban
transfers to Ukraine through the international payment systems is most
likely a response to the decision by the National Security and Defense
Council of Ukraine to ban Russian payment systems on the Ukrainian
    territory.

the establishment of Hungarian autonomy abroad. Comments about this
“112 Ukraine” the speaker said the foreign Ministry Marian Betz.

“For our part, today we have invited to interview the Hungarian Ambassador
and hear his comments. He must now come to us”, she said.

According to the spokesman of the foreign Ministry, such statements
can be a factor of influence on bilateral relations between the countries.
“We have to understand, this is the official position. As far as we know,
the official position of Hungary has not changed, support our sovereignty
and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.

I think that after talking with the Ambassador, we will have a clearer
    understanding,” she added.

Note, on the eve of the Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary Zsolt Semjen
said that the interests of Hungarians living abroad will be protected
if the ethnic Hungarian party will be represented in local parliaments.

According to him, the ethnic Hungarian party not only needs to care
about the representation of the interests of the local Hungarian community,
but are also responsible in front of the whole nation. And remembered
“the Union of Vojvodina Hungarians” in Serbia as an example of ethnic
Hungarian party, which is fully consistent with this criterion, writes
    Mukachevo.net.

The Ukrainian foreign Ministry the statement was perceived with bewilderment.

Notably, Hungarian politician in 2014 noted that “each nation must
develop its own concept of autonomy.

Residents of Vojvodina, Transcarpathia Ukraine should act in
    the same direction.”

    Kyiv surprised to hear appeals
of Hungarian deputy PM to create autonomy
    in neighboring countries

    http://en.interfax.com.ua/news/general/410718.html

The issue of ensuring the rights of national minorities in Ukraine should
not be used to fuel an atmosphere of distrust and misunderstanding,
the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary on the appeals
of Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen to creating autonomies
for the Hungarian minority in neighboring countries.

"We must together resist attempts to use the issue of ensuring the rights
of national minorities, including the interpretation of the words of Semjen,
as has been repeatedly done by the Russian aggressor to create an
    atmosphere of mistrust and incomprehension.

Because, thanks to the many years of efforts of the Ukrainian authorities
and the Hungarian community, the level of cultural, religious and
educational needs of ethnic Hungarians in Ukraine is in many ways
an example for other countries of the region," a commentary released
by the Foreign Ministry's press service said on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry notes that Semjen's appeals were "appalled"
and that Hungary "has always been and is an important partner for
    Ukraine."

"We highly appreciate the friendly nature of bilateral relations and the
high level of constructive cooperation. And we expect that the position
of respect for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and Constitution of
our state remains at the heart of our good-neighborly relations.

No speculation on this topic meets the interests of our two countries
and peoples, and, we hope, reflect the official position of Budapest,"
    the Foreign Ministry said.

    Ukrainian radicals urge Poroshenko
    to nationalize Russian banks’ subsidiaries

    March 22, 20:51 UTC+3
    http://tass.com/economy/936955

On March 16, Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko imposed sanctions against five
    Russian banks
KIEV, March 22. /TASS/. The Ukrop (Ukrainian Association of Patriots)
patriotic center-left political party has urged President Pyotr Poroshenko
to nationalize banks with Russian capital operating in the country
    and to prevent sale transactions
, according to a statement posted
on the party’s website on Wednesday.

"We are requesting an urgent call of the National Security and Defense
Council to consider the issue of blocking the operations (with assets
and liabilities) of Russian banks, both state-owned and private, with
their subsequent passing into the ownership of Ukraine," the statement
    said.

Meanwhile, the party opposed the sanctions levied earlier against
banks with state capital operating on the Ukrainian market, as they
    are considered as insufficient
and profitable "to the power and personally
to Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva."

Ukrop’s radicals warned they would block the operations of the Ukrainian
subsidiaries of the Russian-based lenders in case the latter are allowed
to sell them. "In case Russian banks are sold to any investors we’ll strive
to block their operations in all lawful manners, and will not consider those
buyers as bona fide owners as we’re convinced that the assets should
be owned by Ukraine and the people
    ," the statement said.

Since March 13, Ukrainian nationalists have been blocking activities
of Sberbank’s central office in Kiev as they pitched tents in front of
the building and made bonfires. At the same time, Russian banks
in Ukraine are under pressure from the authorities. The National Bank
of Ukraine announced on March 7 that it is ready to initiate sanctions
against Sberbank’s subsidiary in Ukraine, if information about the bank
providing services in Russia to customers with passports of Donetsk
and Luhansk People's Republics is confirmed.

On March 16, Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko imposed sanctions
against five banks with Russian state capital operating on the Ukrainian
    market.

Akhmetov warned Yanukovych's son against buying coal
from his mines in separatist-held territories of Ukraine

    Wednesday, March 22, 2017 5:13:06 PM
    http://uawire.org/news/akhmetov-warn...es-of-ukraine#

The remaining anthracite in the uncontrolled territory is illegal,
as reported by DTEK (Donbass Fuel and Energy Company).

The DTEK energy holding company, owned by Rinat Akhmetov,
sent an official letter to the company Donbasenergo, controlled by
Alexander Yanukovych, cautioning him not to buy coal from
the nationalized mines in the separatist-held territories of Ukraine
(ORDLO), as stated in the company's press release.

It is noted that after losing control over enterprises in the ORDLO,
DTEK has been tracking the illegal movement and usage of anthracite.

DTEK-controlled enterprises had 430,000 tons of A/T grade coal in
their warehouses. Due to the decision by the National Security
and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) regarding the prohibition on
    the movement of goods
across the contact line, there is a high probability
that this coal is being illegally sold to thermal power stations (TPS)
located in the ORDLO, in particular, at the Donbassenergo
    Starobeshevskaya TPS, the company said.

"The purchase of this coal is a crime under Article 209 of the Criminal Code
of Ukraine, which addresses the legalization (laundering) of income
obtained by criminal means. In its letter, DTEK warns that should the coal
be illegally sold or used, the company will prosecute all individuals involved
in this process and hold them criminally responsible for financing
    terrorism," the report says.

"Representatives of the so-called Luhansk People's Republic and Donetsk
People's Republic will not be able to sell coal in Ukraine, therefore,
they will use it to supply TPSs and produce electricity in the uncontrolled
territory. Of course, this is a cheap resource, because it is, in fact, illegal.
It is our duty to warn all possible buyers," said the head of the crisis
    headquarters of DTEK, Denis Didenko.

The primary owner of the controlling 60.89% stake in Donbassenergo
is the private joint stock company, Energoinvest Holding, established
by Igor Gumenyuk. However, this is only one of the two main owners
of Donbassenergo. According to the head of the Donetsk regional
military-civil administration, Pavel Zhebrivsky, the eldest son of the former
president of Ukraine, Alexander Yanukovich, owns a 34% stake in
    the company.

    Military and local residents:
Burning Balakleya is struck by radiation

    Peace
    https://translate.google.com/transla...-text=&act=url
    (Google Translate)

In the area of the city of Balakleya,
where the largest ammunition depot in Ukraine
is burning and exploding, the radiation background
    has significantly increased
    .

This is, in particular, reported by the portals "Tsargrad" and "Russian Spring"
    - referring to the data published by local residents in social networks.

Also on the published video from Balakleya are soldiers on
the armored vehicle RBKh (BTR-80RXM) with the device IMD
    (a meter of dose rate).
"According to local media, the permissible norms have
    already been exceeded at times
    ." Positions in the social
networks indicate the mood among the local population,
many residents are looking for a way to leave the city
or offer to take fellow travelers with them.

As representatives of the Lugansk republic stated, Ukrainian soldiers
could set fire to warehouses themselves, To hide the shortage, "
journalists from the television company Tsargrad write .

"According to local residents, as a result of a fire in the ammunition
depot of the APU in the region, the radiation background increased
several times," confirms the Fifth Channel .

"Very bad news: It is reported that in the Balakleya area, where
the arsenal burns out, the troops of the RKBZ APU troops are deployed,"
    military experts write .

"None of us has a dosimeter, somehow no one thought about it,
but many, many people say that the background is elevated."
People are trying to leave Balakley quickly: it's better not to take risks,
especially in Kharkiv region during the USSR.

There was already an atomic explosion: then gas in 1972, burning like
hell, was unsuccessfully tried to extinguish by nuclear bombing,
"Pravda said. Ru the inhabitant of Balakleya Sergey V.

"There was a photo with a dosimeter in contact, where the background
is overestimated three times, against the background of the city
and the smoke from the explosions, this is hardly photoshop, we will not
    risk it, we are going,
" added another resident who asked to remain
    anonymous.

"There are no nuclear weapons in the Balakley, of course,
like in the whole of Ukraine, so rumors of a secret stockpiling
of nuclear weapons, even tactical levels, are nonsense,
but there are shells with depleted uranium cores."

And in the case of explosions such as there , This depleted uranium
can "soil" the earth, air and raise the background, "said the ex- FUU
officer , reasonably asked not to disclose his name.

"Of course, the background can not increase tenfold, but in a couple
it's quite, but it's not dangerous after finding radioactive sites
    and conducting degassing," he concluded.

In addition, according to the official website of the city of Balakleya,
"in the region there are several facilities that create radiation risks."

For example, in the region there is a CDMC where the sources of ionizing
radiation are stored from the Kharkov, Sumy and Poltava regions, KIPT.

"In addition to radiation hazards objects are the Institute of Metrology,
SP Grigoriev Institute of Medical Radiology NASU, Kharkiv Regional
Clinical Cancer Center", - write on the website of Balakleya.

Do you think there are/were some nuke stuff in this ammo depot? Or could this be just from the deleted uranium?

Oh, now I'm reading what seems to be like radioactive medical waste maybe? Or from something else? Looks as though the ammo storage place may also have been a very loosely controlled toxic waste dump? What freaking idiots.

With the amount of fire and explosions from that ammo depot, wouldn't any radioactive materials caught in the fire or explosions be lofted and made potential local fallout?

Gazprom's projects aimed at bypassing Ukraine amid the ongoing crisis
facing that country have put Kiev's status as a transit state in jeopardy.
Experts warn that a perfect storm of negative factors is making it
increasingly likely that the value of Ukraine's impressive network
of pipelines will soon be equivalent to that of scrap metal.
This week, Russia and Ukraine's years-long legal row over gas prices
and delivery terms took a new turn, with Naftogaz chief commercial officer
Yuri Vitrenko revealing that Gazprom may claim up to $80 billion from Kiev
    at arbitration hearings in Stockholm.
    The Russian energy company initially
sued Naftogaz in 2014, making the claim that Kiev had not paid for
supplies it had received in 2013 and 2014, and switching the country
    to a prepayment scheme.

Ukraine responded with a counter-suit, demanding a retroactive revision
of prices, and that Gazprom compensate Naftogaz for sums it allegedly
    overpaid.

Russia's Gazprom Seeks $50Bln at Stockholm Arbitration Hearings - Ukraine's Naftogaz

Last year, Naftogaz's own financial accounting indicated that it had
an outstanding debt to Gazprom of nearly $8 billion for the period between
2009-2013, with Gazprom calculating that the figure was actually $26.7
    billion
    only for the years 2012-2014.

The Stockholm arbitration court is expected to make its final decision
on the dispute at the end of this month and, according to most analysts,
Gazprom stands the better chance of winning, given the solid case it has
    presented.

This in turn has left Naftogaz officials nervously pondering about
where they will be able to get the money for the settlement; the company,
already paying 20% more for 'European' gas supplies (most of which
is really Russian gas resold to Kiev by European companies), is drowning
    in debt as it is.

On Wednesday, Naftogaz director Vitrenko admitted that in case of a loss
to Gazprom in Stockholm, Naftogaz will face bankruptcy, and may be
forced to sell off its assets, with the exception of its pipeline infrastructure,
    which belongs to the state.

Speaking to Radio Sputnik, Professor Igor Yushkov, a senior expert at
Russia's National Energy Security Fund, warned that even if the arbitration
court comes to a compromise decision, Naftogaz may still go bankrupt.

"Naftogaz," Yushkov stressed, "does not have $80 billion; they do not have
the $50 billion which Gazprom has already calculated in its claim. And even
if we subtract the [approximately $14 billion] demanded by Naftogaz from
Gazprom, they still do not have so much money. Gazprom's claim against
Ukraine, if I'm not mistaken, exceeds the entire budget of Ukraine.

Therefore, even in the case of some kind of compromise solution,
    Naftogaz will go bankrupt."

Berlin Trying to Sneak Ukraine Gas Transit Guarantees into Nord Stream II Deal

The expert noted that even without Gazprom's claims, Naftogaz's financial
situation is very difficult. Ukrainian households aren't a good source
of profit. Industrial and business consumers, meanwhile, are switching
to private companies. Meanwhile, political decisions taken by Kiev mean
that Naftogaz is spending $230-240 per thousand cubic meters of
'European' gas, compared to the $180 it would have paid if it had kept
    its contract with Gazprom.

Ukraine stopped buying gas from Russia in 2015. Furthermore, Yushkov
explained that Ukraine's "pipeline system is outdated; it needs to be
repaired, but there's no money. Without guarantees that the pipelines
will be loaded up in the long term, no one is going to come and invest
the necessary funds – neither the Europeans nor Ukrainians themselves.

So I think that the history of Ukraine's status as a transit state is coming
to an end, and after 2019 [when the transit contract with Gazprom
expires] it will be unlikely to get any long-term transit contracts."

For his part, Radio Sputnik contributor Oleg Obuhov suggested that
in light of the impending crisis, even the state's principle of holding
onto the pipeline network may be jettisoned, with the network sold off
to the highest bidder. "Naturally, Gazprom's participation will be
immediately rejected, but European and American companies
    will be invited to participate
    until Kiev tires of asking."

In principle, Obuhov noted, "there is interest in the Ukrainian gas transit
system. For example, German companies Ruhrgas and E.O. have long
had their sights on it. But these pipelines have value only if Russian gas
is pumping through them. And since [the construction of] Nord Stream 2
is approaching, the value of the Ukrainian system is falling to near the cost
    of scrap metal."

Obuhov too stressed that it seems unlikely for any company, Ukrainian
or otherwise, to buy the network, much less invest the necessary funds
in its upkeep and modernization. "After 2019, it's hardly worth expecting
any long-term contracts for gas transit through the Ukrainian network.

Poland has announced that it will buy re-exported Russian gas from
Germany. Looking at Warsaw's example, other of Ukraine's neighbors
will support the initiative. The once-needed gas networks will become
redundant, after which those who know how will come and pull it apart.
After all, waste not, want not," the observer concluded.

Thus the history of Ukraine's energy transit network,
which provided most of Eastern Europe with its gas supplies
during the Soviet period, and gave Ukraine about $2 billion
per year in transit fees in the post-Soviet period, will come
    to an end.

    radicals demand from Eurovision participants

    Kiev, March 24
Ukrainian radicals and activists demand from President Petro Poroshenko
that 75% of the songs on Eurovision-2017 be performed in the state language,
as the new law of Ukraine demands.

This is written by the Ukrainian publication "The Voice of Truth."

Earlier, the people's deputies of the Ukrainian parliament adopted a bill
on the use of the state language exclusively on the territory of Ukraine.
It became mandatory for all Ukrainian media, as well as state authorities
and educational institutions. Therefore, the radicals decided to demand
from the organizers of the Eurovision-2017 mandatory compliance with
the laws of Ukraine - 75% of all songs in the contest should sound
in the state language, with simultaneous translation or subtitles.

It is not known how the organizers of the international song contest will react
to such a proposal, if the president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, nevertheless
takes into account the statements of the radicals.

Recall, on the eve of the Security Service of Ukraine introduced a three-year ban
on the entry of the Russian participant of Eurovision-2017, Yulia Samoilova.
The claims of the Ukrainian authorities are connected with the fact that
the Russian woman gave a concert in the Crimea, without asking permission
    from the SBU.

Relations btw US, Russia worst over half-century
    - Lukin quoting Kissinger

    March 25, 2:58 UTC+3
    http://tass.com/politics/937475

Russian diplomat and scholar Vladimir Lukin thinks that the real problem
of relations is a full loss of trust in each other

Russian diplomat and scholar Vladimir Lukin © Mikhail Metzel/TASS
WASHINGTON, March 25. /TASS/. U.S. veteran diplomat and political
expert Henry Kissinger believes the U.S.-Russian relations are in the worst
    shape in half-a-century now
, Russian diplomat and scholar Vladimir Lukin,
who is a member of the upper house of Russian parliament, told TASS
on Friday on the sidelines of a conference on the history of American-
    Russian relationship at Georgetown University.

"I met with a person as authoritative as Henry Kissinger," Lukin said.
"We had a long enough conversation at his home and he thinks the
relations between us (the Russian Federation) and the U.S. are in
the worst shape over fifty or so years."

Lukin admitted frankly he was so surprised to hear
Kissinger’s assessment that he even asked a follow-up
question, if the former U.S. Secretary of State meant
fifty or fifteen years. The latter man confirmed he was
speaking about a period of fifty years beginning
with John Kennedy, who was President from 1961
    through 1963.

When the reporter asked Lukin if the current spate of the Russophobic
hysteria was hampering his routine contacts in the course of the current
trip to the U.S., he said it was not.

Lukin said he had maintained perfect personal contacts with the people,
who had been working on the Russian theme for many long year, since
his time in Washington as the Russian ambassador.

He said he would rather explain for the "current heightened emotionality
towards Russia, including the Russian embassy (in Washington)" by the
acute internal political struggle in the U.S. that is not related directly
to Russia. All the same, he admitted that "this will certainly put brake
on our relations for quite some time."

When TASS asked Lukin what, in his opinion, would be the right thing
to begin normalization of relations with, he said it would make sense to
    improve the general atmosphere first.

"I think we don’t have really many specific problems in our relationship
but the real problem is a full loss of trust in each other," Lukin said.
"This loss tells on really many concrete things. We need to start trusting
each other again so that we could discuss problems, to say nothing
of resolving them, and that’s something the Russian and U.S. people
    in power don’t have."

"I hope changes will take place," he said. "As far as I know, a visit
(to Moscow) by the U.S. Secretary of State is in the offing. If you take me,
I’d being the discussion with the problem of trust."

American participants in the conference spoke about State Secretary
Rex Tillerson’s forthcoming visit to Russia in their conversations on
the sidelines of the sessions as if it was a firmly decided matter.

    NATO prepares to take control
    of Ukrainian nuclear power plants

    Published: 25 March 2017, 17:03
    https://en.news-front.info/2017/03/2...ish+News+front

The situation that has developed in Ukraine, forces “outside” and very powerful
    forces go to the extremities

At the beginning of the year people’s deputies, having spat on the law,
staged a blockade of Donbass, after which the same was done by the
    “guarantor of the Constitution”, grossly violating the Minsk agreements;
then the military arsenal in the Kharkov region exploded in the
hackneyedness of the servicemen of the Armed Forces.

This caused the West to begin preparations for the implementation
of a set of measures to ensure environmental safety.

According to the anonymous source, who is on the post in one of
the power structures of the Ukrainian state, fearing possible provocations
at Ukraine’s nuclear facilities, NATO’s military-political bloc is preparing
for a forceful seizure and subsequent defense of all nuclear power plants
in the country from “people’s activists” with their inadequate militarized
    escort.

Similar operations have never been held before. However, this scenario
was calculated long before the latest events. In April 2014, representatives
of the North Atlantic alliance came to Ukraine to help local military with
preparations to defend the nuclear power plant – allegedly in the event
of a threat to territorial integrity.

In turn, the source claims that under the guise of advisory support,
Western experts collected data so that, in the event of the slightest
threat of attack on nuclear facilities, take them under control
as quickly as possible, as any malfunctions in this area could
lead to very sad consequences not only to Ukraine, but to the world
    as a whole.

According to available data, exercises are already taking place
at the Ingalin NPP in Lithuania, which was closed in 2009,
in accordance with the terms of the country’s accession to the European
    Union.

It is known that fighters of the Land Forces of Latvia, the Special Operations
Forces of Lithuania and in particular the Aitvaras special forces squadron
are participating in the training. It is noteworthy that all the units involved
in the training earlier participated in military operations and peacekeeping
    missions outside their countries.

In addition to taking control and security, it is planned to send a
commission to Ukraine to monitor the current personnel, whose
members will be selected and provided by the International Atomic Energy
    Agency.

The Ukrainian experts would be tasked not only to maintain a stable
operation at strategic facilities, but emergency shutdowns in the shortest
possible time (if possible), if external circumstances won’t allow to
maintain the work in a stable state.

It remains to be hoped that if this scenario is implemented, this will not
be another stumbling block in the already not simple relations between
Russia and the West. Judging by the available information, the opinion
of the Ukrainian “establishment” is not taken into account at all,
    which is very revealing.

    No Turning Back:
Belorussian security forces arrest Maidan provocateurs

    March 24, 2017 - Fort Russ -
By Eduard Popov - translated by J. Arnoldski -
    http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/03/no-...-security.html

In our recent publications on Belorussia, we've discussed the protest
actions known as the “Sponger Marches.” Tomorrow, March 25th,
pro-Western forces will hold a “Day of Will” or “Freedom Day” which
previous marches have served as a kind of rehearsal for. But events
in recent days have made not so much civil protest actions as shows
    of force more relevant.

According to reports from Belorussia, around 200 participants and
organizers of the “Sponger Marches” have been arrested, plus 26 leaders
and activists from Dmitry Dashkevich’s Young Front and the latter’s
armed wing, the White Legion organization led by Miroslav Lozovsky.

White Legion has seized a significant number of firearms and bladed
weapons, and also wields manuals on fighting in urban environments.
Although White Legion has officially long since ceased to exist,
    it still holds training exercises.

The famous Vayar paramilitary organization, which is close
to Ukrainian neo-Nazis, also trains with weapons, and many
of whose members have been through fighting in Donbass
on the side of Ukrainian Nazi battalions, has been subjected
    to repression.

The Belorussian KGB stated today that those arrested
were preparing armed provocations for Freedom Day.
On Belorussian TV, intelligence officers remarked that
we are dealing with “followers of the Ukrainian National
    Assembly-Ukrainian Self-Defense organization
with whom White Legion has closely cooperated
since the ’90’s, as well as participants in military
operations in Eastern Ukraine as part of nationalist groups.”

More juicy details are gradually being revealed. Among those arrested
are several employees of Belorussia’s own security agencies, including
a retired special forces officer and deputy officer of the department
for ideology, police, etc. The arrested have explained their possession
of weapons as due to expectation that activists marching on Freedom Day
would be attacked by pro-Russian activists.

As our friends in Belorussia have relayed, in informal talks the opposition
is saying that all the arrests of nationalists are the handiwork of Moscow,
and that supposedly all the arrested nationalists are law-abiding citizens
whose arms were either legally registered as collectibles or were planted.

Another high profile arrest was that of the leader of the Patriot youth
    military-sports club, Nikolay Mikhalkov,
    who has been named as
a former special forces officer. Mikhalkov can be seen on a photo
flaunting a peaked cap with a badge of the Belorussian collaborationists
    during the Great Patriotic War.

The Patriot organization is a pro-government military club, yet it turns out
that the founder of White Legion, Sergey Chislov, and the founder of Patriot,
    Mikhalkov, are brothers.

Thus, the government itself has organized militarized militias who are
ideologically and via family ties closely related to the nationalist militants
preparing the overthrow of President Lukashenko. And there are many
    more such oddities.

In a series of articles published on Fort Russ, we've written
about the close ties between Ukrainian and Belorussian
neo-Nazis, and how these “comrades-in-arms” are preparing
a Maidan in Minsk and gradually amassing weapons
    and organizing manpower.

After this series of KGB arrests, it must be admitted that this is an
obvious fact. Weapons, manuals, and organizational support for
the future Belorussian Maidan have come from Ukraine, Lithuania,
and Poland, as President Lukashenko announced on March 21st.

Lukashenko also remarked that the main training camps of Belorussian
neo-Nazi militants are on the territory of Ukraine. A big scandal has
already erupted as the Ukrainian SBU has denied Lukashenko’s claims
and the Ukrainian embassy has stated that these accusations defame
    the honor of Ukrainian citizens.

Lukashenko is only partially right in his suspicions. No less (if not greater)
blame must be pinned on himself. Vayara’s training camps were located
near Minsk and this organization no longer even disguises its activities.
Hence arises the question of the competence or loyalty of the KGB to the
Belorussian president in “not noticing” neo-Nazi activities outside capital.

As far as can be seen, the same situation that took place
in Ukraine is being repeated in Belorussia.

Ex-Ukrainian President Yanukovych once decided to play the nationalist
card to scare his own voters and Ukraine’s neighbors with the boogyman
of Ukrainian nationalism. Large sums of money were pumped into
Tyagnibok’s Svoboda party and his competitors in the nationalist camp
were arrested, including Azov’s Biletsky, to clear the way for Svoboda.

Simultaneously, the SBU organized military camps for nationalist militants
where they trained together with special forces officers.

There is nevertheless still an important difference.

For Yanukovych, nationalists were a boogyman. In Lukashenko’s designs
(or in the plans of the nationalist forces' patrons in the security services),
they are supposed to complete more complex tasks, in particular raising
Belorussian national consciousness, and thus alienating Belorussians
from the idea of the Russian-Belorussian brotherhood. But in the end,
Belorussian authorities have raised their own neo-Nazis at their own peril.

Lukashenko’s regime has stopped at a very dangerous point, while
the local “opposition” (the armed Nazi underground) is not stopping
    itself there.

In our next article, we will discuss the international aspect of this problem.
