Agree 1000% The water will move the toxins out faster instead of letting them rustle around and become fully re-absorbed.
If you feel quesy in the bathroom - up the water even more,... not the DE."

I was finding that my energy level was going down as I was cutting my water intake so I didn't need so many toilet trips while at work.

I haven't cut my DE intake level but upped my water intake once again and have a high energy level again. Seen to also be able to cut toilet trips too. I am also taking other mineral supplements. The mineral allow energy to flow in your body. They are not providing energy but it feels that way.

This thread reminds me of when coral calcium was making headlines many years ago.

My dad took it and felt like a million bucks. Knee pains went away, back felt great, full of energy.

Little did he know my brother and I replaced his powdered coral calcium with flour.

We told him around 3 weeks later. Was a placebo test of ours.

He kept taking it too! The mind is a powerful thing.

Aardaerimus, according to this abstract, (below) the DE does clear the blood of cholesterols. Safely.
And I have read that the diatoms are not sharp enough, or large enough to damage us. They are considered nano particles.

    Abstract

In this study a potential influence of diatomaceus earth to lower blood cholesterol was investigated.

During 12 weeks we monitored serum lipid concentrations in 19 healthy individuals with a history of moderate hypercholesterinemia (9 females, 10 males, aged 35 - 67 years).

Individuals administered orally 250 mg diatomaceous earth three-times daily during an 8 weeks observation period.

Serum concentrations of cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides levels were measured before study entry, every second week during the period of diatomaceous earth intake and 4 weeks after stop of intake.

Compared to baseline (285.8 +/- 37.5 mg/dl = 7.40 +/- 0.97 mM) diatomaceous earth intake was associated with a significant reduction of serum cholesterol at any time point, reaching a minimum on week 6 (248.1 mg/dl = 6.43 mM, -13.2% from baseline; p<0.001).

    Also low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (week 4: p<0.05) and triglycerides levels decreased (week 2: p<0.05, week 4: p<0.01).

Four weeks after intake of diatomaceous earth was stopped, serum cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides still remained low and also the increase of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol became significant (p<0.05).

Diatomaceous earth, a bioproduct, is capable of reducing blood cholesterol and positively influencing lipid metabolism in humans.

Placebo-controlled studies will be necessary to confirm our findings.

Except that people have been deworming their farm animals with it for years and years, and able to reduce, or do away with animal vaccines and antibiotics on the farm.. I doubt its because the animals 'believe' in DE.

I debated too Summerthyme, but can't find any reason not too... except my concern about releasing toxins... one big reason I am going to stick with small doses for now.

Gee, releasing toxins shouldn't be much of a trouble in the colon. Anyway some Diatomaceous Earth is sold which combines clay with it which binds any toxins.

I thought about it for a couple of days and decided to give it a try. Its not harmful to take and may do me some good. If you don't want to take it then don't. As far as I'm concerned you can take your debunking somewhere else.

I normally take calcium supplements for bone loss. Does anyone know how much calcium DE would supply? I don't want to overdo the Ca.

Diatomaceous earth is one of the ingredients used in toothpaste.

    http://www.buzzle.com/articles/facts...ous-earth.html

DE is approximately 3% magnesium, 33% silicon, 19% calcium, 5% sodium, 2% iron and many other trace minerals such as titanium, boron, manganese, copper and zirconium.

    http://ghorganics.com/DiatomaceousEarth.html

    Osteoporosis, Joints & Calcium
Osteoporosis is a symptom of the aging process. As calcium in our body system depletes, our bones become brittle and weak. Taking only a calcium supplement cannot correct or stop this threatening and crippling disease because the body cannot assimilate and make use of the calcium without the presence of silica. Evidence suggests that, instead of affecting healing, supplemental mineral calcium, on the contrary, accelerates the leaching away of bone calcium and thus hastens the degenerative process of osteoporosis and similar diseases that affect the supportive and connective tissues in the human body. The Silica found in Diatomaceous Earth enhances calcium absorbtion.

    For Osteoporosis
Silica can stop the pain and even restore the body's self repair process. Osteoporosis symptoms attack women primarily after menopause but the degenerative process starts much earlier in their younger days. More women are dying of fractures caused by osteoporosis than of cancer of the breast, cervix, and uterus combined. Silica is responsible for the depositing of minerals into the bones, especially calcium. It speeds up the healing of fractures and also reduces scarring at the site of a fracture. More and more research evidence shows that through a transmutation process, silica is turned into calcium when it is needed. That is why some scientists refer to silica as a precursor of calcium. Even when calcium is insufficient, the body can turn silica into calcium that the bones need.

    http://www.earthworkshealth.com/human-use.php

I take calcium/magnesium supplements too, can't seem to find more than DE is 19% calcium. I'm going to keep taking what I have been taking in addition to the DE.

Look Diatomaceous earth is found in different deposits around the world. Each deposit has a bit different mineral make up. Nearly all the minerals are in an insoluble form. Some will get released by colon / stomach acids. I can't see anyone getting an overdose of minerals from ingesting Diatomaceous earth.

I take Diatomaceous earth in the morning, Humic acid and trace minerals at lunch and a salt mix of minerals in the evening. I feel good.I expect to get headaches if I overdose on what my body needs.

I looked at that site and it seemed to be uninformative. Lots of pot shots and negative comments on the Wolf Creek website, but nothing, that I saw, that disproves anything.

There has been a very good amount of valid information in this thread, in comparison.

I've had these floaters since I can remember, and over the last 5 years they've gotten larger and gobs more. Maybe another 4 months and they will ALL be cleared?

Today is day four. My skin is much less dry as is my hair. I've been coughing up mucus and itching all over. Biggest noticeable change so far, bags and puffiness under my eyes has almost disappeared. Flu like symptoms and fatigue the second day, swollen ankles and pains running up my legs but all that has disappeared now. Swollen hands this morning but that disappeared also. Blood pressure has increased rather than decreased but not alarmingly so. My husband says my face is less wrinkled, probably because skin is less dry.

This is my 7th day of taking the DE along with a vinegar tea. My eye puffiness has gone down, some skin issues I've dealt with for years have cleared up. Most amazingly, to me at any rate, is that somehow I lost 1.5 lbs and 5 inches.

Odd and wonderful improvement that I didn't expect in 9 days on DE. My blood oxygen has increased! DH has copd and is on oxygen, so we have a little meter to measure blood oxygen, which I use to check mine periodically. My level has been dropping over the years and lately hovers at 91-93, which isn't bad for a 62 year old smoker living at 8,500' altitude. I checked it this morning and it's back up to 96!! I honestly don't think that could be in my mind/placebo.

Day nine for me, ..the good and the bad. I have felt so much better for the last week, I have done more work in the yard than the last 2 yrs, in a week! I wake with no allergies and pressure in my sinuses, I am not craving carbs in the evening, I have not been on a scale, but pants are loose, .

but today, I am moving slow, maybe the detox kicking in,---- OR the fact that I transplanted 25 strawberry plants, (Digging them up out of hard clay) washed 4 loads of clothes, line dried and then made beds, and packed away winter blankets, cleaned the shed kitties area, mowed the back corral pasture, and hand mowed the side yard..all just yesterday, so yeah, I think it is helping, but don;t try to do it all in one day when you are feeling better!!!!

OK, quick question. I purchased a 10 lb. bag of 'Perma-Guard pure food grade Diatomaceous Earth' from earthworkshealth.com (started taking it Sunday morning - so, I'm on day 3). It's bright white in color.
Last night after work I went to the local 'farming supply store' and purchased a bag of their DE - to use as an insecticide barrier around the house. I don't recall the brand, but it had some additive (Benesite - or something like that). When I opened it, I was surprised to see that it was dark dark gray in color. So, is this 'bad' DE? Is there such a thing as 'bad DE'? Is it that addetive that made this DE black? I sprinkled a 1 to 2 foot perimiter around the house last night, and found some dead bugs on the driveway this morning (boxelder bugs).

Its not bad, just not food grade, do not take it internally for you or your critters. I have some of the same, all I could find here in the rural area where I live, no one around here has ever heard of DE. I had to live in the city to know what it is.
