    10 Prepper Anxiety Poll #34

It's time to once again gauge the anxiety members are feeling regarding the current world situation and how they view the relative near-term future.

With a nod to JC Refuge, who developed and created this identical poll the first seventeen times, and to CfI for invaluable assistance, here we go again. The poll will remain up for three days. Your poll responses are private and cannot be viewed, but I encourage you to post your response and why you voted the way you did.

And a reminder --- IMHO if you are all prepped up and ready that is NOT a response of not a worry in the world. The first response is a total DGI response no worries 'cause there is nothing to worry about or even be aware of.

    YMMV

I'm pretty sure I voted glued to the screen last time too, but in actuality if you had something in between glued and freaked - that's where I would be.

ETA: Things are really getting freaky now. All 7 of us who have voted so far have voted the same way. That's the second poll in a roll where we've all agreed, although I'm sure someone will post soon and change that. Still its not like us to agree so much.

Me too. Count me as a 4.5 though I checked glued.

I voted glued to the screen. But like Deena, I am really somewhere in between glued to the screen and freaked.

The last few years I have voted watchful and ready, and tend to be one of those people who concentrates on living life (prepping is just part of life) and while practicing situational awareness almost unconciously, I tend to not get excited about much (steady as she goes) until it is happening and I need to spring into action, so this is a BIG change for me.

And darn it, I find I've been grinding my teeth day and night for the last couple weeks and having these bad dreams where I am traversing enemy territory and getting past blown out bridges and scary people and the like....kind of on the run...displaced from home base stuff. UGH. The bad dreams and the perpetual sore jaw says a lot about my anxiety level despite my outward calm.

I need to say my own sig line to myself 3 times! LOL.

    no worries.

And I am not a dgi.

And I "get" Daniel 8. Few do.

Even if the Iran war starts, there will be no WW3, at least right away. So there is still some time before the end of Western civilization, per se.

The Iran war is the start of the countdown to Christ's return, which is 2300 days. And that is a good thing, in a paradoxical way. God is in control. Read Dan. 8 to understand.

    You asked. I answered. lol.

Also the first time I voted glued to the screen.
I'd rather be paranoid, prepped and wrong than be irrationally happy, frivolous and screwed.

2.48 an hour into the poll. High, but almost all of these polls start high and trend down through the three days. We shall see as the daytime membership sees this tomorrow.

I normally go 4 Glued but to be honest I'm now at a 4.5 , half way between Glued & Freaked, and i haven't read the board or checked the news yet.

I would have to vote 3-watchful. A few days ago it would have been 4. I don't know why the calm down, but I have.

First time I can say glued. Woke about three and checked both Tb2k and TOL. All was ok so I went back to sleep.

Somewhere between watchful and glued here. I went balls to the wall when that whole Jan 20th thing came around and ended up with a little egg on my face.

I opted for #3, but I've been that way since before our 2008 meltdown. In the run up to it, between say 2003 and 2008, I used to get the calls wanting me to take money on my house (for anything, vacation, boat, second home) which puzzled me. I actually began to question my basic ideas on finance. Maybe I was left behind and bypassed by the "new" way of doing things. Thankfully (to God), I realized that I wasn't the problem, the system was and chose not to buy in. Phew.

After 2008, and the election the self appointed protector of the middle class, I began to seriously get into a mindset of preparation. That said, things are bad, on so many fronts that one can't pick the most glaring danger. But, when it starts to go, well find out quickly and most of us will have a better understanding for what's coming, hopefully.

I still voted watchful, but it's more like watchful++. The immediate things that are making me feel more pressured/nervous are the approach of winter and the ever increasing prices of food. I'm going gangbusters on extra firewood and getting all the meat I can on sale. And DH is also getting nervous and loading extra ammo and watching the financial news.

  23. #23
I expect the fall feast season to bring major changes whenever the right year gets here. This years news increases the need to stay glued. The shalom comes in knowing I can't change it ! The worry like many others here is family isn't walking in Torah!!
We bought a 2.5 acre farm about 6 months ago, brought all the knowledge and preps we had and living life in hopes that we have ways to help others when the time is here.

  24. I voted "watchful", but I'm teetering on "glued". I seem to cycle between the two fairly regularly, especially lately.

I voted watchful and checking the preps. I was "glued" back in '90 and just won't do that again, nothing fruitful comes of it for me. I prefer constructive action to ulcer inducing worry.

I voted for glued, but technically I can't be, lol. Still, for the first time in a great while, I am very concerned. I don't by for a minute the idea that all this upheaval is, what was the word they used, oh yes, 'spontaneous'.

Based on what we've seen, there's no way this wasn't planned at least on some level.

What bothers me is what's next?

Thanks for expressing my thoughts. What has been going on lately in the Middle East must have been planned. This was the first time I have voted "glued". To much happening at once!

I said glued, but a 4.5 would be more accurate. It's not because of the stuff going on in the Mideast or economically either. For me, it's a spiritual thing somehow. It feels like something has been slowly winding up and that the winding up part is about to bring on a big change. I pray for the worldwide Church and that we are all found walking in forgiveness when the change finally manifests.

First time I've voted "in my bunker."

To be clear--I'm not at all "freaked." I'm as prepped now as I will ever be. Physically and spiritually. The most accurate description would be "totally at peace and in my bunker." The Lord is my refuge.

I fully expect major domestic and international mayhem on many levels before the end of the year ... quite possibly in the next 4-6 weeks. Of course, my license to prophesy expired long ago. Still, I can recognize the signs of the tidal wave of trouble rolling in fast from the horizon. Wars, revolutions, terror attacks, and economic chaos are seemingly in the surf. I have never before gone out on a limb like this in any forum or manner of communication as far as expecting catastrophe in the near-term. But there it is--it's what I see. It would be great to be wrong about it.

Probably the very first time I ever said Glued. My wife wants to move into the "bunker" already so she's another notch more stressed than I am. I've never been more certain that SOMETHING big is going to happen before the new year. I also can't recall when there has been a time when there are SO many different things on the edge. Sure one or two things but these days it seems like something new comes up ever day that could be the final straw or lead to the final straw. I think we are in roughly the same danger as we were during the Cuban missile crisis, only this time it's not just one multi-faceted crisis, it's several potential TEOTWAWKI situations.

I voted glued. I am the same as many others here. The first thing I do is turn on the TV in the morning, and then check here to see what happened while I slept. Even my old dog seems to sense something is up. She usually sleeps in her comfortable bed, but last night she slept on the hard floor at my bedroom door.

I was babysitting my Grandson this morning for a few hours, and he was watching cartoons. They interrupted the program with a EBS test, and just the sound of it sent a chill trough me. Something is in the air.

I voted for No. 3 too. I mean I kind of have to gauge a response to my circumstance. BUT. Being a salient gauge of humanity, I read those around me. Owner is, I think, not too concerned. I mean, there isn't too much beyond a direct hit that would affect him THAT much.

Even losing grid. It happens a lot around here. Even the Ice Storm in 2009 which Owner pretty much sailed through without missing a beat. In fact after the power returned is when the generator ate itself - Owner had loaned it to a neighbor. But he's like that. If his needs are covered then he can share the excess.

(I think they helped him replace the generator afterwards.)

Watchful, here, we don't have the same amount of pressure on us as you do in the US, mind you with the Stupid fools in Sydney going nuts over a very poor quality Video that may change
We are a long way from Sydney, but alas there are Suburbs in WA (Aust) that are predominantly Middle Eastern, scarey, when we go to some places it's like, hmm spot the Aussie

At almost 36 hours, or halfway through the poll, it stands at 2.47. That is, in fact, trending down very slightly. I run these polls as randomly as possible. Sometimes, as a poll ends, I set an arbitrary date in my mind for the next one that is several months away, just so that I can avoid "spikes". In this case, my arbitrary date (9/19) was coming up when it was suggested that I run the poll.

Are you willing to die to take them away from me?
    Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war;
