The people of the United States are the rightful masters of both Congress and the Courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution. Abraham Lincoln, 1859

Interesting time he chose to step out of the lime light so to speak, i wonder who else will be taking leave of absence over the next month or so

I'm wondering if it's not something more serious...
Venezuela's Chavez comes to mind.

We can all hope it is serious and permanent.
When I was in the music business years ago, I was always taught that bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. This is probably just a PR sturnt to get his name in the news.
Looks like it worked. I hope he goes away and doesn't come back.

Jackson Jr.’s mom: He’s had years of ‘enormous disappointment’

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s mother, Jacqueline Jackson, told a Rainbow/PUSH conference Friday that her son has suffered years of “enormous disappointment.”
“I’m not ashamed to say ... he thought he was going to be a senator. He thought he was going to have a chance to run for mayor. And young people don’t bounce back from disappointment like me and my husband,” she said.
Rep. Jackson, son of Rainbow/PUSH founder the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., has checked himself into an inpatient treatment center — reportedly in Arizona — because of a mood disorder and exhaustion, his office said.
Around the same time he was taking a medical leave from his job as a congressman — a leave not announced until two weeks later — his friend and fund-raiser Raghuveer Nayak was arrested as part of an unrelated alleged fraud scheme.
Nayak allegedly offered former Gov. Rod Blagojevich campaign money in exchange for Blagojevich appointing Jackson to Barack Obama’s U.S. Senate seat, according to testimony at Blagojevich’s trial. Jackson has never been charged and maintained he never authorized any campaign contribution offer in exchange for the Senate seat appointment he publicly campaigned for.
Jackson’s mother expanded on that at the luncheon Friday during Rainbow/PUSH’s annual conference:
“We don’t believe a darn thing until we see it,” she said. “You’re going to have to show us. We’re from Missouri. But young people also need to listen. They need to make themselves available to understand many of the illusions and the trinkets that are being dangled in front of their faces.”
Mrs. Jackson also asked for prayers and privacy.
“My son, is unwell, and he needs a moment to heal. And I ask you to pray for me without cease. Do for me what I’ve done for you. I want you to respect that. Give us a moment. Most of all for him.”
Something's not square about this. Methinks he's "hiding out" to avoid some fallout. I heard that he was in an "inpatient residential treatment center." That would seem to indicate alcohol/drug related problems. But that issue was not raised.
He had a coke bottle and a tennis ball lodged in his rectum. Ouch!
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. enters Mayo Clinic, treated for undefined illness after taking leave last month - @nbcchicago

So when's the Revolution? God or Money? Choose.
I was watching a Glenn Beck video earlier today and Jesse Jackson jr said that the current congress was being rebellious the way that the southern states were being rebellious during the Civil War. He suggested that the current Precedent should treat Congress the same way that Lincoln treated the rebellious southern states.

The advantage to being a pessimist is that you are often pleasantly surprised.
I still hope it is permanent what a waste of skin.

"Years of enormous disappointment ..."
Poor boy. Shakedown Daddy didn't intimidate enough people to get him his way. He wanted to be a Senator ... a mayor. Poor fragile flower. Maybe Shakedown Daddy can get him a Pepsi distributorship like he did for another relative. Or maybe he could put on his big-boy undies and go work for what he wants like all us rich white folk do. This whole story smells like week old fish.
Jesse Jackson Jr. in Mayo Clinic being treated for depression
Published July 27, 2012
| Associated Press
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Illinois Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., whose whereabouts haven't been disclosed since he mysteriously took a medical leave several weeks ago, is being treated for depression at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., according to a statement Friday from the hospital.
Jackson is undergoing an extensive inpatient evaluation for depression and for gastrointestinal issues, according to the statement, which also provided the first details about his medical condition. But it provided no details about where the congressman, the son of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, had previously been staying.
"Further information will be released as Congressman Jackson's evaluation proceeds," the statement said, adding that he and his family were "grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers that have been received throughout his care."
Jackson went on leave June 10, though his office didn't disclose it until weeks later and has been mum on details ever since. Initially, his office said Jackson was being treated for exhaustion. But his staff later said Jackson's condition was more serious and required inpatient medical treatment. They also said Jackson has been grappling with emotional issues.
Under mounting pressure from fellow politicians and others, his office released a statement last month from his unnamed doctor saying Jackson was receiving intensive medical treatment at a residential treatment facility for "a mood disorder."
The timing of the leave has raised questions, in part because Jackson is facing an ethics investigation in the U.S. House connected to imprisoned former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
The House Ethics Committee is investigating allegations that Jackson was involved in discussions about raising money for Blagojevich's campaign in exchange for the then-governor appointing him to President Barack Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat. Blagojevich is serving a 14-year prison sentence for corruption.
Jackson was not charged and has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.
