The laundry is all washed and put away and the car is topped off--down to $3.69 at my station and I have seen $3.66 popping up. Stopped at Petsmart and bought some dry cat food. Will do the same on Wednesday and finish the coupons and gift card. Will also hit Target for another kind of dry cat food for another cat--it's $1 cheaper per bag even before the coupon and it's just in the next shopping plaza.
Plan to pick up some extra sugar and some chuck roasts at Winn Dixie. The truck goes in the shop for some routine maintenance before our trip. We should be headed to Sam's this week and I'll probably pick up a few things there, though I'm not quite sure what I'll get, though another big jug of honey is on the list.
I think that is about all we have planned. The rest is just getting the little things taken care of before we leave.
Forgot to mention, I also got a silver WW2 nickel back in my change today. That's at least the second one this year. I collect them separately from my junk silver so it was a nice bonus. I just got 4 off Ebay and got this one at face value.
We have begun our drought early this year. I started the drip watering this last week. Picked the first green beans last night. We had them with new potatos for supper. They were so good. The beans are loaded with blooms. Hubby said to make sure to keep the well watered so we will get plenty to can before it gets too hot. I have tomatos on the vines too. I need to can quite a few of those too. I have very little weeding to do. It's so dry that weeds have not been much of a problem.
The first cutting of hay is done around here. That will be all the hay if we don't get rain. My friend took some heifers to the sale barn and said the line of trailers was long coming into the barn. Folks are already selling off some animals. Last year was bad hot and dry; this year has started weeks earlier.
Got 8 lbs of sugar, 4 bags of dry cat food and 3 boxes of baking soda. Also sold several more items we didn't need on Ebay and made some extra cash. Making some progress in finding my desk under all of this junk.
Just a heads up for those in Tampa, FL ... or maybe anywhere there is a GFS store.
I'd been meaning to stop by this store on Dale Mabry Hwy for I can't tell you how long ... well over a year anyway. It is basically a Gordon Food Store restaurant supply kind of place. Oh ... let me tell you ... I now have a new place to spend money at. Like any of us needs that these days. LOL!
I found they have large cans (the one down from a #10 size) of pulled pork, prepared taco meat, prepared sloppy joe meat, and a few other things that I haven't tried yet. It is their hearthstone brand. Now granted, it ain't like momma makes it but it sure isn't bad at all either and will make a bondacious addition to my "use within a year" type preps.
The GFS store that I'm talking about is in Tampa on N. Dale Mabry right next door to the Red Lobster restaurant.
