Interesting!!! Thank you for the updates. Here's a link to Wisconsins volcanic past http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/LivingWith...wisconsin.html
Thanks for posting that link to allmycats thread. If you folks haven't read it, you might want to take a look. Lots of other info about the area as well. I wonder if the 10-28 she was shown is actually a time and not a date.
She actually sees the great lakes emptying out. She also gives a bit of history about herself which helped me to believe her and with all the weird things happening in Michigan and the northern area.
Also big cracks have opened up in the ground and there was lots of news about it for a while. Videos still on youtube.

Another night of mysterious booms in Clintonville
CLINTONVILLE, Wis. (AP) — Sleep is interrupted again for some residents in the eastern Wisconsin city of Clintonville where a series of mysterious booms continued Monday night.
Police say they received nearly 100 phone calls throughout the night about the loud booms. Dispatcher Karen Wegenke says most residents called about 12:15 a.m., 1:20 a.m., 2:20 a.m. and a few calls about 5:08 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities in Clintonville, about 40 miles west of Green Bay, are at a loss to explain the noise, which some have described as a jackhammer sound. Dozens of calls also came in to dispatchers early Monday.
Local officials have checked gas lines, sewers, water pressure and consulted seismologists, but have come up empty-handed

Riddle me this Batman,
Why do the booms occur only a night?
I don't think a geologic event would care what time of day it is.
Starting to lead me to belive it is more of a weather or man made event.

Rom 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
Rom 8:23 And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body.
-------------------------------------------------------------
God hears the groaning of His people. And if they keep silent, the rocks will cry out.
If the Kiev sounds were legit, they were not at night. I have seen a few videos of daylight events. There is some interaction with the sun and moon, so the cycles could be hard to track. Irregularities under the crust could be shifting.
If our time changed, could we know it? The whole world (and universe?) is moving in the same time vein, like a raft on a river. If we cannot see an increase in the river speed because the banks are outside our view, we would not know that we were moving faster.
Solar activity could be doing more than we have learned to detect.
Here is my pet theory. Clintonville is near a lake btw. Sound conducts rather poorly and slowly through the air. Thunder, sonic booms and cannons are seldom heard more than 10 miles away from the origin. Water and solid earth are much better conductors of sound. Either the last of the ice is breaking up and/or methane is being released as the water warms up. Maybe the cooler nightime temps are creating an inversion thus trapping gases close to the surface of the water?
----------
Mistpouffers
Mistpouffers are unexplained reports that sound like a cannon or a sonic boom. They have been heard in many waterfront communities around the world such as the banks of the river Ganges in India, the East Coast and inland Finger Lakes of the United States, as well as areas of the North Sea, Japan and Italy; and sometimes away from water.
Names (according to area) are:They have been reported from: on an Adriatic island in 1824; Western Australia & Victoria in Australia; Belgium; frequently on calm summer days in the Bay of Fundy, Canada; Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland; Scotland; Passamaquoddy Bay, New Brunswick & Cedar Keys, Florida & Franklinville, New York in 1896 & in northern Georgia in the United States.[1]
- Bangladesh: Barisal Guns
- Italy: "brontidi" or "marinas"
- Japan: "uminari"
- Netherlands and Belgium: "mistpoeffers"
- Philippines: "retumbos"
- United States: "Guns of the Seneca" around Seneca Lake & Cayuga Lake, Seneca guns in the Southeast US, and "Moodus noises" in lower Connecticut valley.
- elsewhere: "fog guns"
Their sound has been described as being like distant but inordinately loud thunder while no clouds are in the sky large enough to generate lightning. Those familiar with the sound of cannon fire say the sound is nearly identical. The booms occasionally cause shock waves that rattle plates. Early white settlers in North America were told by the native Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) that the booms were the sound of the Great Spirit continuing his work of shaping the earth.
The term originating in Seneca, South Carolina, USA during the country's civil war, mistpouffers, or Seneca Guns, referring to the rumble of artillery fire. The inhabitants of Seneca claimed to have felt the rumbles during the Battle of Seneca. The battlefield was 5 miles away, but the people still felt the rumble over this distance (Johnson 5). The battle was won by the Confederate army, which was being led in the struggle by "Stonewall" Jackson. The term was coined by the Seneca Press saying, "The guns of the Seneca rumbled the houses throughout the night." The term is now used for any natural or artificial rumble felt. An alternative explanation for the term "Seneca guns" is also provided. In 1850, James Fennimore Cooper (author of “Last of the Mohicans”) wrote a story, “The Lake Gun,” describing the phenomenon, which seems to have popularized the term.

This morning's news said that the noises last night were very loud and covered a greater area than yesterday. Apparently they were loud enough that they were heard at the police station.

Clintonville booms intensify overnight
Updated: Tuesday, 20 Mar 2012, 6:47 AM CDT
Published : Tuesday, 20 Mar 2012, 3:16 AM CDT
Update as of 6:30 a.m. from Angela Kelly:
The Clintonville City Administrator, Lisa Kuss just talked to Angela. She says booms were felt and heard throughout the night in parts of the city. The problem is broadening to areas south and west of the northeast part of the city.
An engineering firm is working with city officials today. And the water system will be looked at again, even though it was ruled out as a possible cause yesterday.
As for holding a public meeting, Kuss says there are no plans right now, but that could change later today.
If you feel or hears these booms, please call the non-emergency number at the Clintonville police department: (715) 823-3117.
Update as of 6 a.m. from Angela Kelly:
Angela caught up with Clintonville resident, Joel Beilfuss, he actually packed up some things and is temporarily staying in Marion. He said he just wants to be safe.
Joel says he didn't get a good night sleep Sunday. Click on the video to the left to see Joel's interview.
Update as of 5:30 a.m. from Angela Kelly:
Last report of the booming came in at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, report came from East 14th and Lincoln Avenue.
The Clintonville City Administrator, Lisa Kuss says leaders will meet this morning with civil engineers and geologists. Kuss also says the city will take another look at the water system.
__________
The mystery in Clintonville continues.
We talked to Clintonville police shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday, they tell us it appears the area where the booms are being felt is getting bigger.
Police also tell us the booms are intensifying. And that people's houses continue to shake.
The original area of the booms was in the northeast part of the city.
Clintonville police started getting reports Sunday into Monday regarding the explosion-like sounds.
Police tell us there were many times overnight, 50 to 60 calls were coming in at once.
The source of these booms is not known.
FOX 11's Angela Kelly will be back on scene this morning and bring you updates on Good Day Wisconsin.

New You Tube video, but only of a news report---STILL no one has posted a video of the booms LIVE---does nobody up there know about You Tube or what?

The geologic event doesn't "care", but the propagation of the audio wave depends on the atmosphere being "just right". Cooler, drier air carries sound further, plus has the ability of being "heaved" easier from an energy source. This is why you can hear moving vehicles MUCH better in the winter (especially at night) than you can on a hot summer day.
_____
I would suggest that people in the area make sure that things that could fall and hurt someone, should be secured so that they won't fall. When I moved up here almost a decade ago and started building, I made sure that all of the places I was going to put a bookcase or other "stand up" item, would have wall anchors in the wall making sure that it would not fall.
Just sayin'...

Stopped in Clintonville this morning on way home from Appleton. Talked to a few residents while I was at Pamida and they didn't seem too concerned. I walked around for about 1/2 hour hoping to hear something but nothing at this time.
I find this event rather fascinating from both a scientific and societal perspective.
Here is a real opportunity for the scientific community to rise and shine. So what have the assembled brainiacs been able to offer? Absolutely nothing, you gotta love it! A true scientific mystery just begging for answers but I wonder how many experts are going to leave their comfort zone to actually investigate what is going on in Clintonville?
Watching all of the commercial, media and governmental organizations is also very interesting. Just when the terrified residents of a small Wisconsin town need answers nothing is forthcoming. All of the various agencies carefully check their backsides, issue denials, establish their turf and produce absolutely nothing of any use to anybody.
I really have to wonder if we as a nation are really “hardwired” to confront an event of unknown origin.
Lacking a research grant, governmental decree or management approval are we really able to do anything anymore?
If this event stops can we even begin to hope to have any follow-up once the headlines are gone?

There probably are people up there studying it. I setup both magnetometers and VLF-LF receivers, as well as a few accelerometers here to study what is happening. And there are signals that happen in the VLF-LF spectrum before and during these noises (especially the booms). There are also magnetometer events that happen all the way around the booms and the small quakes (before, during, and after). The problem is that I don't have anything to compare them against, at least yet. I don't have them in other places, and I didn't have them up before the quake last year.
The problem is that these happen in so many different places, and randomly timed, that you can't get them to happen when you are ready with the monitoring gear to record them analytically so that you can compare them. It's sort of like a Earth sized game of "Whack-a-mole".

The timing is awfully coincidental to the 188 days date - along with the Mexico earthquake, the noises that Loup is hearing, too.

I would be interested to hear if there are any of these sounds reported tonight, after all the stress relief today of the Mexican earthquake.
So when's the Revolution? God or Money? Choose.

I've been wondering the same thing. IRIS has been fairly quite for the past week plus and then all of sudden these booms and then the two big quakes. North America hasn't moved much in the past 20+ years, given the movement of the continents to the west and south of us, and then over on the Mid Atlantic Ridge, it's only a matter of time before a monster quake occurs here. I'm still concerned about the fault line that goes from NYC down through Loups region to Alabama, and to have my geologist friend tell me that they are more worried about the Mid Continental Rift than the NMSZ is very unsettling, since it literally runs under the city I live in.

We had booms going off during the night last week. We are not far from the Colorado quake. But you have to remember sound moves around mountains in different directions than what you think. Anyway they were booms, wife and I heard them and faithful dog hugged the porch.

they used to mine in upper micigan , northern wi. don't know if they still are, but if you have a tunnel open up, then air would sound pretty freaky going through the tunnels I would think.
we have a town not far from me, and the whole town was built on top of coal mines, while they were mining them. not good....... if one ever gives way, they say the whole town will probably crash down in those old coal mines.
I am just guessing. but I can tell you, these are not the trumputs that revs. is talking about . those will be heard world wide , all at once.
I spent some time in az. in the mountains there, the noise almost sounds like the wind going through natural tunnels in the rocks, or i n the caves.
blessings to all momof23goats
The only mining in Clintonville was surface mining, now abandoned. I would imagine they have checked those out already.
