great stuff, love this story, need more, JT is the man and Jeanie is a star
Chapter 38
Agent Tim Smith walked into the FBI offices in Louisville Kentucky and sat at his desk. He was disturbed by the possibility that he was being followed and he looked at his fellow agents with a suspicious lens. Could it be someone here in his own office. Agent Burke was an obvious choice but he was s stickler for protocol and Tim doubted he would do it with out some sort of ok from up above. Would Solince have agreed to him being shadowed? Would he worried about Tim after they had their talk yesterday. He knew he would have to be more careful he planned on heading to the range today he had brought the Ruger along with him to get more comfortable with it. He opened his email and responded to some normal stuff and sent Harold an email, just letting him know things were alright. He wanted to see if he could pull up the reports he and JT were discussing last night but he wanted to make sure he had a good reason if anyone asked. Plausible denial-ability would be a big deal right about now if he got caught.
“Agent Smith do you have a minute please.” Agent Solince asked.
Agent Smith looked up. “ Yes sir.” Agent Smith was worried. What would Solince want with him? He walked into the office and took a seat as Agent Solince waved his hand to the chair in front of his desk. “yes Sir what can I do for you?”
“Well actually more for the agency Agent Smith, we have a long standing request to do some work on the databases and update and look at old reports that have outlived their time. We are slow right now and Agent Dawes said he may need you for some other work so I thought this might be something that you would be interested in doing. You could do some work from home or a flexible schedule for a week or so and mainly keep me informed on the reports and which you think are out of date. At the end just get me a report and prioritize reports that seem less relevent now.” Solince said.
Agent Smith replied. “ Sir I will do my best, there are a lot of older files that are restricted access do you want me to look at them all.”
“Yes all the older files well as many are you can while we are slow. I have already made the request that your access be elevated. It should happen later today” Solince said.
“ I will get through as many as I can Sir and keep you informed.” Agent Smith replied as he stood up.
“I know you will do your best to do your duty Agent Smith.” The senior agent said as he looked at the younger man in the eyes and held a stare for a few seconds.
Agent Smith was jarred with the comment and the stare. Was Solince trying to say something to him. Had he been caught or was this some official way to try and trap him. If he had access he could read all the old reports but if he shared it he was in breech of the law. He would have to tread carefully this could be a godsend or an elaborate setup. He turned and left the office and walked back to his desk. He accessed the archives and pulled up some of the oldest documents. He wanted to go right for the files he wanted to read but knew better. He had to make sure it looked like there was not order or plan which ones he took but he had figured out a possible way. Some of the very early reports should have some link to the old Mexican invasions scenario. There were old reports that talked about some rogue military in Mexico trying to capture the government and there were plans if that happened for the US to intervene a lot of these documents fed off other documents and he would just follow the trail. It sounded fine in theory.
JT walked into the house and plopped the bags from Walmart down on the kitchen table as his wife looked on in surprise. She fingered through the bags and looked at the odd assortment of items. There was some lunch meat a ham and screws and nails.
“I...I thought you were going to radio shack to pick up some cameras and stuff.” She said.
“yeah well I did go to radio shack.” he said as he held up the other bag.
She noticed he was not in the best of moods but how did going to the store get him angry.
“So what happened at the store.” She asked.
“Nothing I just saw the lines forming for the credit and went to see closer...” he replied.
Alright so this was going to be something akin to 20 questions. “So you went to the store and saw how things were going and...”
JT put away the groceries and took out the camera equipment on the table and began to look at it as if it was some sort of shield against the intuitive powers of his wife. Of course he knew it was no use she would eventually get it out but for some reason he was not going to make it easy right now.
“Why did anything have to happen I could have just went up to make some purchases and then came home.” he said.
“well you are not acting like you went there and came home and nothing happened.” She said bending her head so she could look into his eyes.
“HEY DAN GET DOWN HERE AND HELP ME GET THESE SETUP.” JT yelled up to his son.
Dan rounded the corner with a smile on his face. “Will do dad. What is the plan to place them.” he asked smiling all the time.
His mother looked over. “What is the shit eating grin for Dan.”
“huh...ahhh...what well I was just reading the exploits of my father.” Dan said with a laugh.
JT sat back in his chair and placed his hands over his face and moaned. He could not believe that what happened less then 2 hours ago was already on some internet website.
“Really!” his mother said. “ and what exploits is that?”
“what...well...I thought.” Dan was not sure how he got in the middle of this and really wished he could find a way out.
“I had a run in with a guard at Walmart he asked to see my cash and he was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. I did not take the request well and pulled my revolver and backed him up. The store manager cut in and calmed things down before they got out of control.”JT said. “ I just did not react well to the request. Alright.” JT said as he shrugged his shoulders.
“react well? JT that could be the understatement of the year.” She said with her voice raised. “You drew your gun on a store employee and you think you did not react well.”
“Well he did not dress like an employee and that was part of the problem. I let the manager know.” JT said matter of factually.
“ and it was necessary to pull a gun on him because of the way he was dressed. Is it possible that maybe next time you want to complain about the dress code you could just let the manager know and leave it at that. It might work just as well. It may not make the daily web but it might just work.” She said.
“Yeah yeah well maybe I am just a grouch. Can we leave it at that.” JT said with a hint of exasperation.
“honey people get grouchy because they do not have their morning coffee and they usually do not pull a gun on someone. You wanted to complain about some guys dress code and pulled a gun.” Anne said with a hint of laughter.
“he did ask to see my cash, it was not just the clothes.” JT said in defense.
Anne through her hands up and walked to the sink and started to rinse the breakfast dishes and placed them in the dishwasher. Dan and JT started talking about where to place the old diesel truck and place one of the camera there and then another closer to the house. They decided that placing the old truck about three quarters of the way down the drive would be best and then placing one right on the front corner of the house if they were able to get them connected to the computer via the wireless and see them they could add more later on. Dan said he thought it would be an easy setup and he would find the inverter for the truck.
Just as they were finishing up the discussion of the cameras Anne's cell phone rang.
“hey Paula how are you today?” Anne asked.
“Oh I am fine I was calling to see if JT needed any nursing today? The cops up at Walmart said he had a little run in with the local security guard. With his run ins he seems to always get hurt.” Paula said with a playful tone.
JT sat back and let his son go and get the cameras set up.
“No Paula JT came out of this one unscathed. Apparently he did not like the dress code of the doorman.” She said laughing.
JT was speechless. He stood up and said to no one in particular. “I am going to place the call to the Ranger in Texas. I will be downstairs and see if I can stay out of trouble. Oh just tell Paula I was grouchy.”
Anne laughed and continued her call with Paula as JT walked down the stairs and went over to the bank of computers and radios. He pulled up the email and wrote down the number to Ranger Crockett. He was unsure just how to go about the conversation. He was thankful that Jeanie or at least her dad had made some introductions. He could imagine , ahh yes I am the guy that shot those terrorist in Louisville and I have this FBI friend and we think maybe there is a chance the Mexican drug cartels or the government or both may try and break off Texas for Mexico. He shook his head. This day was not going as he had planned. It was suppose to be a nice quiet day with the cameras getting setup and then he was going to call Jeanie and maybe do a little prequel to the call in show. Just something recorded so he could get used to it. Now he had already had an incident he called it to himself with amusement. Oh well so far no one had gotten shot. He picked up his cell and dialed the numbers he had written down. The phone rang and rang he was about to hang up with a weary voiced answered the phone.
“This is Captain Crockett.” the voice said with a heavy Texas accent.
JT was caught off guard and for a split second wondered just what he was doing calling this man. “Ranger my name is Jerome Tanner I was told you would be expecting a call from me.”
“Mr Tanner it is a real pleasure to speak with you and yes I was told to expect a call.” The Captain said.
“I hope this call is not to early. I just wanted to catch you before worked started.” JT said.
“Well Mr. Tanner I appreciate that but honestly since the incursion that started all this and now the ATF guys is Tyler I have not been getting a lot of sleep at all.” Captain Crockett said.
“I can appreciate that and please call me JT.”
“JT it is. JT I have been told you and an FBI agent friend think there is something going on down my ways that we need to know about.” The Ranger said with a hint of puzzlement.
“Well Ranger Agent Tim Smith and I were talking a day back and we wondered if the cartels might use this whole terrorist issue to try and cut a line behind your lines and cut Texas and some of the southern areas off. Maybe make them a no mans land for gringos. Agent Smith apparently has said that he read an agency report at one time that the cartels had been infiltrating the government to an extent that they could get whatever weapons they needed and once they had enough men behind you they could fight you on two fronts. What brought this up was the glock 18 that were used in the diner shootings are pretty hard to get and might have went through the Mexican government. I know it sounds kinda crazy but Agent Smith said that many of the cartels were very much into the reconquista movement.” JT explained
Silence from the other end. JT was feeling very worried now and felt somewhat foolish. This man was in law enforcement and who was JT to explain the intricacies for drug cartels and international terrorism. He was just about to apologize for wasting the Rangers time.
“JT that is very interesting. We have had some jail breaks of a few of the bad apples and have seen a lot more gang activity down here recently. We are being stretched pretty thin but did not notice they might be testing both north and south. Maybe that is the plan keep us to busy to notice. You guys might be on to something. I think I will talk with the Governor and see about pulling some more guard troops up as well as calling up the Texas State Guard. If we are going to be in a war we might as well act like it.” Captain Crockett replied.
JT was happy that the Ranger thought that what he had explained was good information. He had worried that he might have just thought it was another crack pot idea of which JT was sure he had heard plenty.
“Ranger I am glad you think it might help. I was worried that well.. I was worried it was just more BS from the government.” JT replied.
“honestly JT it is hard to say but at least you and Agent Smith took the time to let me know so we can be on the look out for this kind of activity. Hell I do not know if it is some concerted effort or just trying to smuggle more. We have to understand that we are in new times and we just do not know but now with this new information I can have people watching for some kind of northern boundary to form or some group maybe trying to start one. In this case knowledge can be power and can help us. I will have more men stationed in northern areas now where as before I might have just let that go and not worried about it. Now I have a reason to be inquisitive of anything happening up that way. I very much appreciate the call.” The Ranger said.
“good I am glad you do not feel it was a waste of time.” JT said.
“If it turns out that this comes out to nothing I am still very happy to have been able to speak with you JT. I want you to know a lot of people out here are very thankful and impressed you jumped into the fray and did what you did. It is not an easy thing to walk into a situation that you know you may not walk out of.” Captain Crockett explained.
“well sir thank you but I did what I had to do to be able to sleep at night. Maybe a little selfish but I am not sure I could have looked at myself in the mirror and not went inside that mall.” JT explained.
“ You have to know JT that many people would not have walked through those doors.” He said.
“well thank you.” JT responded.
“I also hear you are going to do a radio show soon.” Captain Crockett said questioning.
“ actually yep I am going to try and get with Jeanie today and do a little prequel and then do a longer call in or something. I am hoping I can get people working together and helping each other. I am not sure but maybe it will help.” JT said.
“ I think you will have more people listening and following your lead then you might realize.” The Captain said sounding confident in his assertions.
“I hope I can Ranger. I will do what I can.”
“That is all any of us can do JT and all anyone can ask of us.”
“Ranger it was good talking to you.”
“JT it was honestly my pleasure. Thank you and please be careful.”
“ you to Ranger.”
Dan Murphy had called Jeanie as soon as they let him out of the hospital. The had given him a shot of muscle relaxer and some kind of codeine pain reliever. He called Jeanie and told her he was fine and in the hands of her fathers friends. His head was still foggy and his back hurt furiously but he was not going to stay in that hospital over night as the cute brunette swore to the doctor she would keep a very close eye on him. The police officer was there that had sent the helicopter and Dan had thanked him again. The officer discreetly handed his revolver over to the older gentleman that was next to the car he was leaning against as he called Jeanie. They got in the car and he felt immediately the whole weight of the last few hours and told Jeanie he would call her back in a while. He dozed as they drove and would wake up as they turned or stopped and find his head on the shoulder of the beautiful brunette. It was hard for his mind to tell but they had only been on the road for about 30 minutes and arrived at Guns R us Gun shop. They pulled around back and he jarred awake. They were in front of a large chain link fence maybe 8 feet in height and topped with some kinda of barbed wire looking stuff. Dan was impressed as the man driving pushed a button and the gate creaked back slowly. These people obviously took their security seriously. Dan of course had no idea. The gate was reinforced as well as it was connected into a concrete block re-bar reinforced wall that surrounded the connection that the store had to the warehouse at the back of it. Dan had finally woken up some when the vehicle stopped.
“Dan...Dan” that voice again. Her hand in his pulling him from the car as they walked in a door and back to a open elevator. The large elevator reminded him of the ones you see in the old warehouses with a sliding down door and controls with nothing else. They arrived a few floors up and walked out into a hallway and walked him through a doorway and into what looked like a small apartment. The brunette sat him down in a comfortable recliner. The older man sat across from him on the twin bed and the brunette stood by his side with her hand on his shoulder.
“Dan my name is Roger Davis you have already met Beth Ann and this is my gun shop. I also own this warehouse and we have a communications area that you are welcome to use for as long as need. You will be safe here. Why don't you lay down and Beth Ann will check on you in an hour or so.” Roger explained.
“Mr. Davis... I want to... I want to say thank you.” Dan said in a somewhat slurred slow voice.
“Son you can call me Roger and I am happy to keep you safe. Do not worry Trevor and I are old friends and he would do the same for me. Now get some rest.” Roger Davis said as he got up from the bed and walked to the door. “Beth Ann let him lay down and get some rest. We still have a gun shop to run.”
“Yes Daddy.” Beth Ann said as she bent down and kissed him on the forehead.
They both walked out the door as Beth Ann leaned back in. “now get some rest sugar and I will check on you later.” She said winking and closing the door.
Dan walked over to the bed and laid down feeling his weight sink into the softness of the bed. A quilt lay at the foot and he reached down and pulled it over him covering most of his body before feeling the fatigue and giving into the sleep. They had meant to kill him and he would remember that, he was not the warrior that Jeanie was but he promised with his last fiber that the IDG and whoever was involved with would pay a dear price for what they had done. His clouded mind drifted off it would be something massive. Sleep came to him.
Deputy John Jacobs left the hospital after seeing the young Dan Murphy off with his friends. He was going to head over and have a meet a the local head of the FBI. He had some questions and wondered if the Agent had found one of his underlings with a bullet hole in his ankle. The drive to the small restaurant was quick and hey called in to the station to let them know he was out on a lunch break. He called his brother and let him know that well it could be that he was going to start some rumblings. His brother was well aware of what had happened earlier and would back him up if needed. He just ask that he try and not go overboard. About the time he had hung up the phone he saw Lenord Ralls come around the corner. Special Agent Lenord Ralls had been the local agent for the last 5 years and John had worked with him on more then a few occasions and always felt he was a straight shooter. He did not have the same liberal bend as so many in public service these days. John Stood extending a hand and receiving a firm handshake.
“Lenord thanks for meeting me I have a … well a situation that I hope you can help me with but I thought it might be better if we spoke outside the office.” The Deputy explained.
The Agent frowned he had known the deputy for some time and this seemed very serious. “John whatever I can do to help please let me know.”
“I appreciate, that a young man was run off the road this mourning a black SUV sped away but we were able to get the plate numbers.”
“sure give them to me I will try and find them if they are not in your database. Lenord said.
The deputy looked down and for a moment was quiet. “The Numbers are 555 GBV.”
Agent Lenord Ralls was writing down the numbers and then stopped and looked up at the deputy. He looked back down at the numbers he had written down and knew those were the plate numbers the deputy had said to him.
“John is this some kind of joke? You know that is one of my SUV from the department.”
“I know Lenord... I know and yes before you ask I am sure the numbers are correct. Can I ask you who the number belongs to or who should be using that SUV.”
“I have two agents that are liaisons with the IDG that use it. Samuel and Conrad are agents that have special assignments that they work with the local Islamic community and keep us up to date on possible terrorist issues. “ Agent Lenord explained.
The deputy had a confused look on his face.”So do these guys answer to you or not.”
“well actually.” The Agent Started “not really. I can request there time but they get their orders from DC.”
“Can you call them and see if they will come in. I would be interested to see if they would respond. You see one of them will more then likely have a hole in his ankle from the incident today. They were trying to kill the young man Lenord.” said the Deputy.
Special Agent Lenord Ralls picked up his cell phone and called one of the agents and put the speaker on. The phone rang and rang several more times. The message came on and he left a quick message to call him back about some issue with a case that was long sense closed. He called another number and the phone rang and rang again. He was about to hang the phone up when Conrads voice was on the other end.
“Conrad this is Agent Ralls I needed to get with you and Samuel about the case with the student I want to clarify some points in it. I am just finishing up a report.” Agent Lenord lied.
“Sir I am sorry but we are going to be on this assignment for some time maybe a week or so. Also sir I have to inform you that Agent Samuel had an accidental discharge earlier at the range and had to get it looked at.” Agent Conrad explained.
With his best voice of concern that he could muster Agent Lenord asked. “ is he going to be alright, I hope it is nothing serious. Is he still at the hospital maybe I should come down since I am his manger at least in name in this area.”
Agent Conrad was caught off guard. “no... No Sir.. I already have him back home and the doctor says he just needs some rest for a day or two and then he can be back up on his feet. It was not a serious wound sir. I will tell him you were concerned sir. Thank you.”
The phone was dead. Lenord Ralls could not believe it. He laid the phone down and looked over at his friend. Two of my agents tried to kill a man today he thought to himself.
“I am sorry John, I had no idea and frankly still don't. They do not even file reports with me unless specifically told to do so.” The Agent said.
Deputy Ralls sat and thought for a few moments and could not come up with anything to console his friend he had just found out what many had worried for along time and that was that agencies of the federal government had been infiltrated. How vast and deep it went was anyone’s guess but there could be no doubt these two agents tried to kill an American citizen today. He would have to get back and let Trevor know and let him dispense the information as needed.
“Lenord for now I think you need to just go on and forget about this. I know that is going to be hard but I am not sure what they would do if you confronted them and I do not want you or your family in danger.” Deputy Ralls said looking the Agent in the eyes and voicing the concerns he felt.
The two men stood and shook hands. “John let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I will do whatever I can.” The Agent walked away his mind trying to accept a new reality that a few minutes ago would have seemed very alien but the FBI that he knew and worked for was no longer.
Thank you so much for the new chapter.
I hope you have a happy holiday!

Chapter 39
Interstate 40 runs across the northern tip of Texas running from Shamrock through Amarillo and then on to New Mexico. It is the main road across the northern part of Texas. Right outside of shamrock 3 cars are involved in a accident that tangles traffic for miles back towards Oklahoma. The three cars are slightly damaged but they have spread across the highway as the police arrive the drivers all look to be Hispanic males are sitting by their cars. Te first two police cruisers arrive and check the drivers and none seem to be the worse off. The try and check identification but then all the drivers seem to only speak Spanish and none of the offices on site speak Spanish fluently. They call for a tow service and also for one of their coworkers fluent in Spanish. Two of the officers go down the row of cars a few back and let them know they will be moving shortly. Officer Tracy Conover is calling in to let the office know they are at the scene and will be advising shortly of how quickly they can have it out of the way. As he is on the radio he hears the wail of the ambulance in the background. He assumes that one of the other officers has called just in case one of the men is hurt worse then they seem. He gets off the radio and walks over towards the ambulance as it pulls close to the two cruisers and sitting on the right side of the road. The officer waves but does not recognize the two EMT as they open the doors and climb down. They both head to the back and pull the stretcher out and grab their bags. Conover looked on and was a little surprised the accidents were not very serious and no one looked really injured but better safe then sorry he assumed. They could check everyone over and maybe they spoke Spanish. He did not like to profile but both looked like they were of Mexican decent. The two EMT pulled the stretcher over to where the three men were sitting and began to look them over and thankfully it seems one or both did speak Spanish. The men where talking to the two EMT and it looked like they were telling them what hurt and where. Conover turned his attention to the cars and it did not look they there was a whole lot of damage mainly just some bump and spinning. Officer Lisa Taves had worked with Tracy Conover for three years and always seemed at ease with her partner. They had never had the male female issues a lot of female police friends talked about.
She walked over to her partner and leaned into him whispering “ does this all seem kind of odd, no real damage but the cars do not start and have you ever seen those two EMT before?
“Yeah but who the hell wants to be in an accident and if there are drugs it makes no sense. I just figure the guys are new working for the ambulance service.” Conover replied.
They were both turned away as the three men sitting down pulled the bandanas from their neck and up over their faces. The two EMT did the same as they pulled the sheet back from the stretcher revealing 2 AK-47 and several semi-auto hand guns. They had waited until both officers closet to them were turned away and the other two were still dealing with irate drivers. The two men dressed as EMT grabbed the long guns and turned just as the officers were turning to look their way. The men began to fire towards the officers as they turned and reality hit them the officers tried to move and duck behind the police cars but were no match for the gun fire. Both officers were hit multiple times but still attempted to crawl away before both were shot in the back of the head by one of the drivers who had picked up a semi-auto pistol. The men with the AK-47 were now targeting the other officers. Who were caught completely off guard and gun-downed where they stood talking to motorists. The AK rounds tearing into the vests and through their bodies as the men fired round after round into the officers and the cars around them. People scrambled from the cars pulling loved ones that had been hit as the men walked closer to the line of cars. Both of the shooters dropped the large magazines and then replaced them and continued shooting at anything that moved. The men who had grabbed the pistols were walking slowly around and shooting anyone that was down but still alive. US Marshall Dante Mann was sitting in his personal car about 7 vehicles back from the accident and partially dozing off as he waited for the road to clear. He was completely awake when he heard the AK firing. He had been in a few firefights and the sounds of the AK were unmistakeable. Two men it seemed dressed as EMT were firing and then he saw the other 3 with pistols. He reached over into the passenger seat and placed a call to the local police and quickly filled them in on what was happening. A lieutenant had come on asking questions as he watched the men now walking down the line of cars getting closer to his. He saw people being hit in the cars a van two cars up had a family of four it looked like a mother, father and two kids. They could not get the side door open before the shooter took aim and 10 rounds went into the family vehicle. The US Marshall told them all he could in the time he had and then reached over and grabbed the Springfield Armory XDM from under his jacket and moved out the passenger door. He had two 16 rounds magazines and a 13 rounder in the gun. He was hoping to get some range time with the new gun while on vacation but it now looked like it would be a trial by fire as they say. He came out on the passenger side and went towards the back of the car. He could see the closest shooter one vehicle ahead of his now and then two occupants; two pretty teen girls getting out the passenger door and then running past him. The shooter ever focused on his target did not notice when the Marshall stood up and fired two rounds hitting him above the collar bone mid-line in the neck rupturing both carotid arteries. The shooter fell forward and died on the hot bloodied asphalt. Before any of the other shooters noticed the Marshall made a dash across the lanes and behind the car directly across from his figuring that any of the other seeing their man down would look to his car first. He turned back towards the front of the car and looked for the other shooters he had them in his site but on the egress from his car and the shooting he had lost them. He caught site of one of the men with a pistol walking down the passenger side of the far cars and shooting at people trying to flee. He could see the man was shooting at the two teens who had gotten out of the car just before his. The man was turned away from him and he could see that one of the teens was down. The Marshall took aim and fired two quick shots hitting the shooter in the back of the neck and shoulder. He turned as he was hit and stepped back clearing himself from the car roof and windows as the Marshall fired two more shots and hit him square in the chest dropping him to the ground. However in this exchange he was now seen by the remaining 3 shooters and they concentrated fire on him. He ducked down and hide behind the engine as he heard them speak something quickly in Spanish. He was able to hear part of it but the man with he AK it seemed was going to continue the killing spree. He poped up and fired a couple of rounds at both of the men shooting at him now the man with the AK was now past and continued firing into the cars with people in them. The other two shooter returned fire but now he had an idea where they had gotten to. They were both across beside his car. One was at the front and one at the back to keep him where he was. He looked under the car he was hiding behind but could not make a clear shot to the feet of the men across the way but he had a plan. He was going to fire a few shots and then try and unnoticed run across and get behind one of the tires of his car so they could not see him. When they popped up for a shot he would take one out and the the other. He fire the two shots and dropped the magazine waiting for their return fire. The two men jumped up and fired 3 shots a piece and then ducked back down as he scampered from the front to across the divide and next to the wheel making sure not to shake or rattle the car in anyway. He could see the shooter with the AK walking down the center line but thought better of taking a shot at him. He would take care of him if this worked. When they had received no return fire both men came up for another set of shots. He was up quickly and fired at the man near the front and hit him in the chest twice. The other shooter near the back of the car saw him after he had already fired two shots at the car that the Marshall had been behind and now pointed the gun at the figure less then 10 feet away as the Marshall turned towards him and fired. The Marshall fired two shots and killed the shooter but feared he would still be shot as he saw the mans finger pull back and the hammer fell, on an empty chamber. He turned his attention to the man with the AK and ran down towards him weaving in and out of cars as he did. He was within a car length when he fired his first shot hitting the man in the right shoulder which had the undesirable effect of spinning him around and the barrel of the AK crossing the Marshall’s path. One of the round tearing into the side of the Marshall. He cursed as he ducked down and tried to regain his composure. He could finally hear the sirens as backup was close now. He scooted around the front of the vehicle and took a chance to look around the drivers side and the shooter unloaded a couple of rounds at him as he stuck his head out just a bit. He ducked back but was slowed now by the round in him. There was a lot more blood and it was darker, he was probably hit in the liver and was bleeding out. His mind was getting fuzzy and he was worried he might not get more then a few more shots before he was down. He reached into the neck of his shirt and pulled the medal his mother had given him for confirmation and kissed it and said a quick prayer, he dropped the magazine and inserted the full 16 rounder. He stood up as quickly and steadily as he could and moved towards the man with the AK and began to fire his finger pulling the trigger as quickly as he could. The man with the AK was caught off guard by the audacious move but began to fire and he saw two shots and then three hit the Marshall. Dante Mann dropped to his knees as his finger pulled back and the hammer fell on an empty chamber. His eyes were now heavy he had sustained several more hit but how did he miss the shooter? He was so close but the shooter still stood. His eyes closing he heard his mothers soft voice calling him home.
“you have done well my child now rest.”
How could he rest, how could she say that? How many more would that man kill because he missed. His eyes opened for a brief second as he watched the man go down to his knees.
The shooter could not understand why he could not turn and continue on. He tried and tried to moved and turn but nothing happened. He felt strange...weak suddenly as he watched the eyes close of the man he had just killed. He was unsure who this man was that had insinuated himself in this attack but he would pay. The cartels would make his family pay no one was going to fight back against the gangs as they secured Texas. He would make sure of that he would... his thoughts now becoming scrambled he looked down and the mans eyes were open again and he wanted to raised the gun and shoot him again but his arm would not work and then his knees buckled.
Dante Mann looked on as the man went to his knees and then fell face forward on the roadway. The Marshall looked into the mans eyes and knew he was dead. I am coming home momma he thought as he closed his eyes for the last time.
Backup arrived as the Marshall closed his eyes for the last time. After sorting all the shooters out and finding the US Marshall that had called and gave them invaluable information they turned over the last bad guy with a bandana clutching an AK. One of the local coroners assistants was there as they turned him over and he whistled.
“ I think I can safely say this man is dead and he died of massive blood loss due to one ...two … three” and he went silent, “wow 16 rounds to the torso”.
One of the deputies saw the large puddle of blood spreading out from the shooter and saw it was getting close to the downed Marshall. He took his boot and pushed the man over to the side of the road as the assistant looked on in horror.
“deputy you know we have...”
“you already have pictures, get that piece of shit off this roadway.” he said as he splashed water on the growing stain and then again until it was stopped and ran away down towards the body of the dead shooter.
The corner showed up and asked what he was doing that he was messing up the crime scene. He was beside himself. He had known the deputy for quite sometime and never had he seen him act this way.
The deputy looked hard at the coroner and in a voice that clearly expressed his pent up rage. “ I do not want one drop of the blood of that pig to touch this man is that perfectly clear.” as he pointed to the downed Marshall.
The coroner looked and saw his eyes were wet with tears and knew that this was not the time to discuss crime scene etiquette. “ I understand and we will move the Marshall’s body now.” he directed the assistant to grab a gurney and take some quick pictures before gently lifting the body as the deputy escorted it to the coroners wagon.
Ranger Crockett was on the phone with the Governor as the word of the killings were hitting the police channels. He had explained that some information had come to him about the possibility gangs or cartel groups might try and cut off their people from the north and south. He said it was possible that some in the Mexican Government were working with the Cartels to use this time to try and reclaim some type of Aztlan. He recommended that they call up the entire Texas State Guard and as many national guard as the Governor felt comfortable with. With word coming in as they spoke the Governor became more and more angry.
“I will not have our state attacked like this and not provide security for our people. Ranger I will call up all that I can but I am calling on you now to meet with any and all leaders of militia groups and see if they can work within our framework. I am also now calling on all members of the public to be armed and work with local police departments. I will go on Television later today and ask that all men and women who can handle a gun consider themselves in the Texas State Militia. They may be called on to fight for this great state. These cowards want to go on a shooting spree I want people shooting back.”
I understand sir I will do all I can to assist you.” Ranger Crockett said.
Dan awoke after about two hours of napping on and off and drinking some water. He could tell his body was sore but he did not feel the awkward tiredness from earlier. The doctor had said it was from the post adrenalin surge. It happened sometime people would feel washed out after an incident like he had been through. He got up from the bed and walked out the door and into the hallway. It was a long hallway about fifth feet from end to end with a few more dor and then a couple of offices with glass and desks inside. HE walked down the hall away from the elevator that he had been brought up in and came to a huge room and everywhere he looked there were computers, some had people working in then others banks of servers and network connections just sat off to the side. Dan rubbed his head he was sure now he was in heaven, first the brunette and now this. One of the young men came over and offered a hand.
“I am Jake I run the web based business and other internet ventures for my father. He said you might be waking up soon and need a place to work from. I had them bring your laptop and bag and put them over at an old workstation we have.” Jake said leading Dan to a large desk somewhat away from the main working area. “We are just calling you a temporary net consultant for right now so no one asks to many questions. It will sell out net guy quite a couple weeks back and we have not hired anyone yet.”
Dan found his voice. “that works and thanks as far as the net stuff let me know what I can do I am fully qualified on Cisco routers and and networking systems. I have my Network +, CCNA and CCNP.”
Jake turned and looked at Dan with a surprised look. “I thought you were a radio head that worked with Jeanie and Gerry.”
Dan looked back at Jake and had a quirky smile. “ well I did but mainly because I liked their show. I have a Masters in Electrical Engineering, I just kept it quiet I liked working for them and thought we were doing something important.”
Jake Laughed. “you were doing something important. You can look into why we are having a slowdown on the network if you like, here is the administers password and account, make one for yourself and let me know what I can do to help.”
Beth Ann walked around the corner from the hallway and looked directly at Dan. “you bad boy you should still be resting.” she said as she walked up to where her brother stood and Dan sat behind the desk.
“I promise to not overdue but I need to be doing something now not just laying around besides Jake tells me there is away I can repay my hosts.” Dan said.
He could see the red flare up in her cheeks and thought she looked even more lovely. “Hold on... your brother did not ask me to work he had no idea I had network experience but I do and you all have some network issues and I am going to fix them. Then I am going to make sure my web page and stuff is still up and then I am going to take down the entire network of the IDG.” Dan Explained.
The storm passed and she calmed down. “Alright but not to much.” she said with more then a hint of concern.
“yes Beth Ann.” he said.
Jake smiled “ yeah sis this might just be one that we need to keep around. Unlike most of the strays that you call boyfriends you bring home.” Jake trotted off to his desk and laughed loudly as he did so making some of the workers look up and see what was going on before they dropped their heads and went back to work.
“I am going to be checking on you in one hour mister.” Beth Ann said.
“yes Beth Ann.” looking deep into her eyes.
She smiled and walked away.
Dam had created his account and checked the networking issues. He had found some routing tables that were old and needed to be updated as well as some security patches that should have been added a while back. Along with some bad software and just not very good system integration he worked for about 30 minutes and made the changes and updated the software. He saw the phoen and puicked it up and punched the button for Jake. He answered on the second ring.
“Hey Dan need something.”
“Nope can we be down for about a minute or two and let me reboot the system and routers? Five minutes at the most.”
“sure.” Jake replied.
“excellent I think you will notice a difference.” Dan explained. “alright I am shutting it down now.”
The system took a minute or so to stop all the processes and shut down and then began to come back up. Dan was busy rebooting all the routers when the phone rang. “This is Dan in networking.”
Roger Davis was calling to find out what idiot had done something now that was going to take a day for the computers to come back up and working but then Dans voice was on the phone and he calmed somewhat. “ aahh Dan I was calling .. oh yeah we fired him... Dan let me call Jake.”
“Sir I asked Jake if I could take the system down for at most 5 minutes and fix some problems you guys had as well as some security issue. I promise it will be right back up and you should see a difference.” Dan explained quickly. “ as a matter of fact it is all rebooted and you can login right now Sir.”
Roger Davis logged on and the system popped up and he could continue his work. It did seem markedly faster. “Dan thank you that does seem better but you did not have to...”
“Sir it was my pleasure... I like being useful and this is nothing compared to how you and your lovely daughter came to my rescue.” Dan could not believe he just said that.
The line was quite for some time and then Roger Davis said in a light tone. “ We were happy to help... I am sure Beth Ann would be flattered with the thought that you think she is lovely. Carry on Dan.”
“Yes Sir.” Dan said quietly smiling.
Dan now made some calls and let people know that he was alright and sent a long email to Jeanie and thanked her and her father for the support and the help. He made some connections through his friends across the globe and let them know what had happened and who had tried to hurt him. Many wanted to do just what he had thought to do an hour earlier but no he wanted to hurt them much more then that. He sent out an email and asked that everyone attempt to hack the emails servers running the IDG and the compounds across the US. He would bet the servers were running the email accounts for many of the top people in the compounds and he was sure there would be stuff in their emails that they did not want everyone to read. He was going to make sure everyone could read it. Then after they were embarrassed yeah he would take down their whole network.

Chapter 40
Dan came in from getting the cameras setup and went down to his fathers man cave to see if he could access the wireless signals from down there. He sat down at the computer and searched for the wireless signals and was able to connect to both. His dad was typing away at something on the old laptop and sitting back in the recliner. He looked like he was involved but Dan wanted to show him he got the cameras working but did not want to jump into the hornets nest of earlier.
“aa...Dad I have the cameras working do you want to come look.”
“yeah was just typing some stuff before I called Jeanie.” His dad replied turning an looking over at his son. His son had a quizzical look on his face as if he wanted to ask something but feared doing so. “ what is the problem Dan.”
“well not really a problem but maybe speak from your heart not just some prepared statement.” Dan said.
His dad looked down at his hands and considered for a moment. “ yeah maybe so. Alright what do we do about these cameras, are they working now and will they do some alarm when they see something?”
“Yep here we have the camera up in the old truck and can see just about anything when it is dark anything in about 30 feet and the infrared lights will be ok and here is the alarm. We will have to get it set for sensitivity so it does not go off for ever raccoon and small animal.” He explained.
His dad looked on and played with the controls some and was impressed with how much he could see. The alarm was loud enough to get someones attention even from upstairs if it went off. He checked both cameras and he liked the views. They would check and see how long the battery would run the camera and lights when they came on from the motion sensors. He though it might be better to go ahead and leave the second camera on at all times. It sat under the eave and was hidden behind some branches.
“did you trim some of the branches back? How is the camera hidden with what you cut?” JT asked.
“Yes I trimmed some of the branches with that wicked Gerber Brush Cutter of yours but left more then enough to keep the camera hidden.” Dan replied.
“did you leave the cutter outside, I want to look and see if maybe we need some more branches taken down.” JT asked.
“Yes I left it on the planter, but be careful you made it a tad sharp the last time you worked on it.” Dan laughed.
“the zombie apocalypse can happen at any time and bladed weapons will come in handy.” his dad said looking up into the young mans eyes with a looked that showed no humor or sense of jest just a matter of fact look. His son smiled and said he was heading upstairs to get some work done with the animals and climbed the stairs.
“Good Work Dan!”
He stopped midway up the stairs “thanks dad, glad they work.”
JT called Jeanie and waited for her to answer.
When he heard her voice he once again understood why she was on the air. It immediately made him feel at ease with the lady. Which made him a little slow on his response to her hello.
“... Hello Jeanie I hope this is not a bad time. I was wondering when we talked the other day you had the idea maybe do some kind of static recorded message from me like a precursor to the call in or talk show or what ever we were going to do.” JT said.
“Yeah … ahhh that sounds good. I am not sure I can get it on the air right this second.” Jeanie went on to explain about Dan and the car wreck and that the SUV that had forced him off the road had been traced back to the local FBI office. JT was astounded by the information and made sure to ask about the young friend of hers that was doing all of the technical work for the shows. She assured him that Dan was fine and that he was now safe and secure with friends down in the area. JT took a minute to go over his call to the Texas Ranger and that he thought the chat went well and that the Ranger seemed to be very happy to have the information. Jeanie asked if he would ask his FBI friend Agent Smith if he knew of some liaison group from the IDG that were also FBI agents. Jerome said he would ask Agent Smith later today, he had wanted to tell him about the call with the Ranger anyway.
“JT you do know there was a massive shooting on one of the interstates down in Texas today, Right?” Jeanie had worried that when he spoke of his chat with the ranger he had not mentioned the shootings. Now the silence. He had not known. “I am sorry JT.” Jeanie felt sad that she had not waited but there was no good way to tell him what happened.
“What happened Jeanie, Tell me.” JT said sadly his voice low and pained.
She recounted the attach by the 4 men, two acting as traffic accident victims and two as EMT. “there were 5 people killed not counting the bad guys and 15 people shot with various injuries.” Jeanie explained. “All of the bad guys were killed by the heroic US Marshall who in the end fell also.” She said.
He was quiet for awhile and then sighed a long mournful sound. “I wish we could have called him sooner...maybe.”
She cut him off “JT you called a man half a country away and gave him a heads up about a possible method and reason for some attacks that might come to pass. They did and now they have a handle and I hear the Governor is calling up just about everyone he can. He is telling people they have to help each other and they are part of the solution. There is even some talk he is speaking with the Militias that are more mainstream and not so Rambo.” Jeanie explained.
“Yeah I just wish we could get some kind of handle on all of this. Maybe we can.... How should we do this recording.” he asked changing the subject.
Jeanie voiced brighten as she spoke. “well you can record it there and send it to me or we can do this over a land line like we used to do with call ins. I can do that from here at the cabin and then post it to the website.”
“My son said to not right anything down, that I should just go from my heart. What do you think … how did you all do it.” JT asked.
Jeanie thought for a second and then quietly said. “ I think you should talk like you would to a friend. You are a good man JT. Just tell them what you feel and what to do.”
He slouched back in the soft chair and said. “I will call you back in a few minutes on the the land line and will close the door at the top of the stairs.”
“Ok”
She gave him the number and said her goodbyes as she readied the equipment. She knew he was nervous and she wanted this to go as easy as possible. She waited for the call back.
JT yelled up and told his wife he was going to make a recording and asked her to close the door. She wished him luck and closed the door leading to the basement. She knew this was going to be hard for him but she hoped it helped also. She knew people were getting scared and scared people were dangerous. If he could push back the time when chaos broke out and nothing could control the masses there might be a chance. Gas prices sky high and store shelves partially empty. People were afraid. Thank God the store shelves were stocked some places and some places they were half full and other less so. It seemed that as things ratcheted up from attacks something would happen to give people some hope. The young man in western Kentucky recently and even her husbands grouchy visit to Walmart seem to help people. It seemed to give them some measure of hope. Her husband had become on Icon of the hope of the people. She bowed her head and said a silent prayer that he would be able to come out of this still the man she loved and the man who was a great father to his children.
JT called the phone number and sat up straight in the chair. He wanted to do his best in this. He did not want to disappoint Jeanie and have her feel that she had wasted her time. She answered the phone and he could immediately here some feed back and before she quickly had that solved and then her could here his voice. She gave him a web address and he logged on and was able to hear his voice through the speakers. They did some speech tests and he was comfortable with how he sounded and Jeanie seemed very happy with what was coming out of the speakers.
“Ok JT how about just start and lets see where it goes.” Jeanie said excited.
“My fellow Americans MY name is Jerome Tanner. I think most of you will know my name and......
He stopped.
Jeanie could not suppress a giggle. “That was great if you are announcing your run for the Presidency. I think you might be shooting to high right now. ”
“yeah.. yeah.. yeah smart ass I obviously do not have the experience in this.” He said sounding very much upset with himself.
“hey just relax this is knew for you I understand.” she said worrying that she might have insulted him with the laugh.
He could tell that she was concerned and he did not want her to think he was mad with her. “Listen Jeanie I am not upset with you or really me, I just want this to be good and I want to do some good with it. Besides I have a tendency to be grouchy. At least so I am told.”
“Let me try again”
Jeanie waited for a short period of time and was about to say she was ready and then...His words started slowly in a low and even tone filled with the seriousness of the moment.
“Patriots … Americans... we face a dark hour in the history of this great nation. We have never before been attacked on these shores by such cowardly vermin. We have all lost loved ones even if you have been untouched by these attacks you must understand that your loss is just as real as anyone who has felt these attacks within their families. You have felt the fear of terrorism. The fear that at any moment you or your family could become part of the growing group of souls taken by these villains. I say here now it is not wrong to be cognizant of that fear but we must overcome this fear and we must make those who have brought this to us pay for their deeds.
My name is Jerome Tanner, to most of you that will listen to this I doubt if my name is unknown to you. I found my path cross that of these killers and God granted me the ability to come out of that day and destroy those who are the enemies of this great nation. I come to you at this dark time and ask that you help me. I have fought these killers twice now and while there is air in my lungs and blood in my veins I will fight them but I must have your help. Others have fought them as I have. Jeanie , Maury Liser, Isiah Lyons and a US Marshall that lost his life today in the terrible attack in Texas. Blood has been spilled on this hollowed ground we call America. I ask you for your help and no I do not ask you to go out and spill blood or take up arms against anyone. Those of you that do this must do this of your own accords but I do ask that you ask the local Sheriffs if they need help if they need assistance. If they need people to guard food storage sites or energy sites. That is good. That is needed but I am asking for something else. We have a lot of our neighbors out there who are frightened and do not know what to do. They fear the empty store shelves and the lack of electricity and they are vulnerable. Their fear will drive them into the arms of the people who have brought these terrorists to our shores. The political correctness crowd has spawned these jihads. They made it impossible to question Islamic Fanatics. This country was built by people who wanted to practice their religion freely but it was not built on a suicide pack. Any religion that wished to practice a free and open religion should be allowed to do so but we do not have to sit by and watch a religion attempt to undermine the very fabric of this nation. So patriots we must stop our neighbors and sate their fears. We must help to hold control for as long as possible. If people are not afraid of empty store shelves or the electricity going out then we may hold the darkness at bay and delay that time they may let their liberties go for warmth and a full belly supplied by the American hating UN. I know this may sound tame but if we keep people from falling into chaos and help them learn to live then we can forestall that time that they may look to others. We all know there are some that wish to be taken care of and supported cradle to grave but I still believe that most American still admire the ability to thrive free of the government teat. This is my challenge to all of those that prepared for this day. Teach!. Help the people around you work with the local churches and groups to show people how to do without but not feel they are struggling.
I also want you all to survive and teach the children. Tell them why it is important that this Republic not fall. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and all of the people whose blood has stained this land. We must never forget. Jeanie and I will try and do another one of these and take your calls. God Bless you and keep you.”
Jeanie sat at the controls and wiped a tear as she thought of Gerry. Twenty or thirty seconds had passed and silence from the other end. “Jeanie was that all right.” JT asked.
“yes that was wonderful JT, you hit it out of the park.” She said. He could hear the tears in her voice. “I will get this out to Dan and it should be up tonight. Check for it around eight or so.”
“will do.” JT answered.
The line went dead and he knew that she was crying for her downed colleague. He hoped that this was something that would help. Maybe this was what was needed. To tell the people they had to work together. Would people do that. Many people had grown to lazy in both mind and body and without the government telling them what and how to do something they would not be able to survive but would they become a problem. Would they fight against what he had just put out? He looked at the computer screen and saw that the UN would convene in two days and the Venezuelan ambassador would speak for the FBI director and The United States Attorney general.
JT cursed under his breath and walked up the steps and out the back door and around to see the placement of the two cameras. The one under the eave was nice and tight and was hidden from view by several well placed branches. He walked down the road and checked on the other one. His mind wondering how the radio show would be accepted. He sent a text to Paula and let her pass the news along and walked back up the gravel drive. A glint from a reflection caught his eye and he turned and looked to the right of his driveway. About twenty yards down he saw a car pulled over to the side of the road. He walked a little more briskly up the drive and reached around the open back door and retrieved his binoculars. He looked and was becoming worried but then noticed the two extra antennas. The sheriff had decided to have people keep their eyes on his house. He thought about calling the Sheriff and complaining but then shrugged his shoulder and decided to get a late lunch.
Jeanie uploaded the file to Dan with a text attached asking if he was doing alright. A quick text back said he was fine. He had made himself useful at the store and would get right on the posting. He mentioned that friends of his were looking into the email system of that group they were interested in and he would get back with her later. Jeanie wondered what he was up to but on this system of communication she decided not to ask. She also did not want to put to much on him right now. She knew he would need some time to process all that had happened today. She went back up to her dads house and found he and Leslie sitting eating some lunch. Gael had went out not to long ago and she saw him pull in as she sat down at the table with her dad and Leslie. Jeanie sat and chatted as she saw Gael retrieve a large package from the back of his SUV. He tapped on the door before entering and laid the boxes on the table in front of Jeanie.
“ you were so enamored with rifle I had and Leslie had so I went and go one for you. I also have one for that friend in Kentucky if we can get it to him.” Gael said as he opened the boxes and she saw two jet black skeletonized 22 with integral silencers.
Jeanie was speechless for maybe the first time in her life and reached up and hugged Gael kissing him excitedly.
“OH Yeah.” She said as she smiled ear to ear. “ I am not sure how we would get it to him but yeah this might come in handy. I will have to see how this might work.” She said as she held the gun up feeling the weight and sighting it down.
Gael smiled and told her they could go break it in later back at the cabin. She made some sandwiches as they talked about the radio show and the happenings over the last few days. Her dad updated them on what he had gotten from the Texas roadway shootings but it was mainly a rehash of what had already been told. They did get a message relayed from Ranger Crockett that he appreciated the heads up. He was very impressed with the chat he had with Mr. Tanner. They finished their meals and Gael and Jeanie headed back towards he cabin for some privacy as she broke in her new toy and tried to figure out how to get the other rifle down to her co-conspirator. She smiled as she thought about the identifier. She and Gael ran through two full 550 round boxes of federal ammo and she got familiar with the rifle. She was able to work with it and finally got it to where she would be able to shoot dime sized groups from 60 feet at will. While they were shooting she asked if any of his friends from the grocery might be able to make a run down to Kentucky. It would not look to odd with the grocery truck and they could send a few helpful items along with the rifle. He said he would talk to them about it in tomorrow when he went to check on his friend who had gotten hurt.
Agent Tim Smith sat in his apartment and grabbed a late lunch after he had worked most of the mourning at the office looking and reading old reports he decided to head home for the remainder of the day and continue working to leapfrog through the reports. Many of the old reports were terribly outdated and did not have anything that he was looking for but he had come across two reports that had some relevant information for the problems in Texas today. They related information about a cooperation between the Mexican government and the cartels to access illegals in the US that could be used as a force to attack law enforcement. He glanced at them and noted the names so he could look at them more closely later. If this was some kind of setup to get him on sharing classified information he was not going to make it easy besides the two reports so far were actually not classified. It looked like some of these reports had been made and then filed away and never surfaced to see the light of day. He took the time to read through the two reports more closely and found they were not classified as he thought but they had been written and then filed away. He wondered how many of the reports were just what these were? He read several more reports as he ate sandwich and kept and eye on the news. The news had already come across about the shootings in Texas and he knew JT was going to try and call the Ranger today. It seemed prophetic but it also made him extremely angry that the FBI was on the sidelines. He sat and watched the television as he dozed a little in the chair. His email sounded and he noticed an email from JT on his private account asking him to call the phone.
JT sat and waited for the phone to ring. He hoped that Agent Smith had a phone that he felt comfortable calling him from. He did not have to worry for long. His phone rang. He did not recognize the number so was cautious.
“yes can I help you.” JT said softly.
“hey JT this is a drop phone no worries.” Agent Smith said.
“good I hoped that you would be able to call. How are you doing Agent?” JT asked.
“not to bad, I am a little concerned they put me on a job today to look through old reports. It could be some kind of setup to get me on disseminating classified documents. However some are really not classified just buried away from prying eyes. Some might be useful to that Ranger friend of ours.” Agent Smith explained.
“is there anyway to just send him the reports as cooperation between agencies.” JT asked as he sat and worried that he had put Agent Smith in some danger. Had he though or was it just simply that the path they had taken had lead them here. The agents words brought him out of his thoughts.
“what was that rangers name, that might actually work. I will send him the two I have so he has some background and if anyone asks I will get him to back up that he wanted help and we will make some back connections through Agent Dawes and myself.” Agent Smith asked.
“Ranger Crockett.” JT said as he looked for the number and gave it to Agent Smith. “by the way when I spoke with him earlier he was very happy to have gotten the information we had. He thanked us for getting it to him. One other issue that has come up. You know Jeanie and she has a technical friend that helps with the show and her computer stuff. He was run off the road earlier today and the SUV was from the local FBI field offices. The Agent in charge said it was two agents who were liaison with the IDG but were gun carrying agents. Do you know anything about these people?”
Agent Smith listened as JT explained what happened with Dan and the FBI angle. “JT I have never heard of anything of the sort but I would not doubt it. There has been an uncomfortably close relationship with the IDG and other groups that had ties to radical elements. I can check with Dawes and some others and see what I can find out and get back with you tomorrow.”
“that would be great. Go ahead and forward those to reports if you feel comfortable and I will send him a text to expect them and to back you up he requested them.” JT said and then hesitated. “Agent …Tim be careful they are on to you at least it seems they are so please be careful.”
“JT I will be but you did not do this. I choose this path as did Dawes and we will help you all we can.” Agent Smith said in an even and serious tone. “I will be careful but you did not put me here, you just gave me a reason to be here. I will talk to you tomorrow.”
JT smiled as the phone went dead and he sat back watching the computer screen.

Chapter 41
The waning light falling from the sky in Lexington Kentucky as Simon walked across the large campus. His mind racing in a few hours they would bring the man who had frustrated their attacks to his knees and would send him and his family to their deaths. The had for the last few days worked on an attack plan but they felt with the superior numbers and the coming in under the stealth of night they would catch them off guard and kill them all. This would teach the infidels that no one can stand against the warriors of Islam and their righteous duty to bring the world to Islam and a global Caliphate. He had been summonsed to the main house the Imam wanted to see him before they left for their appointment in Louisville. He walked past the two men who guarded the front of the house and up the large stairway. The house looked like any other main house in the region. When it had been designed they had wanted to make it more of a middle-eastern feel with a minaret sounding the call to prayer daily. However when they had started this project those who backed it wanted to blend in until the time was right and they would no longer blend in and let the world know their agenda. Simon walked down the long highway and stopped at the heavy wooden door before he raised his hand to knock solidly.
Simon Waters had grown up in privilege with a father who was a renowned attorney in California and a mother that came from a wealthy family. They had coddled the only child and he went to the best private schools and that is where he ran into his first mentor. It was a social studies teacher that had shed light on the evils of the United States and blood that has been shed by slaves and the poor only to prop up the rich. Simon soaked it up as many white upper-class children do as they rebel against their parents. They find a way to hate what they are and it becomes part of their psyche. Simon had been at odds with his family since the first mentor and they had clashed often as he went from radical to radical. He became a socialist and then some religious group from Asia that his mother and father had never heard of. He had been given part of an inheritance when he was 21 and he gave it to this group. He would have given the entire half million dollar inheritance to them but a bank manager family friend had called and warned his father. The father had him declared a danger to himself and others until he appeared in a US court to answer to his fathers concerns. His dad knew he would in no way come into court so that had been averted for awhile. His mother had continued to send him money for some time behind her husbands back and when he found out they had a terrible argument. She finally told him she would not give up on her son just yet and would try and get him to come back to them. It was many months before they got any information about him. She had hired a private investigator and the news he brought back was not good. It appears that after the time in Asia he had gotten in with a group from Somalia and then had went to Pakistan. The last information he could come up with was he was in some Islamic based group and they were training in the desert mountain region the private investigator explained further he was simply not the right kinda of person to go in there and find him. He made his apologize and left. His father became more resolute, his mother however wanted to do anything they could to bring their son home. She still held the believe that he was just on the wrong path and if they explained it he would come back. Through some old friends the father contacted and ex navy seal and asked him to advise them on what they could do to try and find their son and bring him back home. The seal a rough looking man in his middle fifties sat in he delicate french seat and sipped the shot of bourbon from the glass and explained that the group their son had committed to was one that he was not going to leave. He was there until he died in some form of terrorist attack or was killed in some drone attack. The mother broke down in tears asking if there was no way to try and get him out. The old warrior explained the indoctrination and how her son had went from one radical group to another. He had done his research on the kid and in his opinion he was lost. If he came back he would probably kill them. They were everything that he was taught to hate. The old warrior looked into the eyes of the father and made sure he knew this was not some boast or guess this is what his son had become. The mother looked to her husband.
“I will only ask this one last time, ask this man if he can do anything to bring my son home.” She said as she walked out of the room crying.
The father new this was folly his son had chosen a path and now he was not coming back but for his wife he had to try one last time. He pushed the old warrior and asked what it would take to try and rescue him. The man laughed back and said he was not in need of rescue but to be put down.
“I mean no disrespect sir but your son is like a mad dog now and should be put down.”
Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew the soldier spoke the truth but he put on a stone face and asked how much to try and get him out. The man had always had money and knew that people would usually do even the impossible for the right amount of money. The warrior narrowed his eyes and knew the man was serious and he knew that he had a few old buddies that could use the money and with enough he could send his granddaughter to medical school. They agreed on a price that was to be paid no matter if they were successful or not a bonus was set if they were able to get him out. The seal told the father of a de-programmer he knew of out of the states and they would take him their first. The old warrior took the 150,000 dollars for the 3 men and a promise that he could check tomorrow and his granddaughter would have a full ride to Harvard medical school. The men shook hands at the door and the father watched the man walk away and worried that he was sending him to his death. He had made hard decisions before but he knew in his heart this was wrong. There had been no word for several weeks. The last word was they knew what camp he was in and they were going to try and make an advancement on it in the next week or so. Then a video had arrived. It was a crudely wrapped video with a post mark of somewhere in Washington state. His father was home and placed it in his computer player and watched the screen come to life. The video came up first with a black background and with some banner stretched across it. He continued to watch as a man was drug from the side of the video and placed in the middle of the framed scene. He could tell it was the warrior he sent. Then men in dark clothes and head-wraps came into the view, one man holding a paper that he was reading from. The old warrior has his hands tied behind his back and looked like he had been beaten severely. The man stood there and watched as the reading continued and then stopped. One of the men stepped forward and was handed a large knife from off screen. As he took the knife he reached up and pulled the head-wraps off and the father was looking into the face of his only son. The young man spoke English. I am with my family now and if I were there I would kill you and that whore who bore me. You are the enemy and this man will die because he is an infidel in this holy land. His son then began to move down and with the knife but was caught with a kick in the midsection.
“the others are dead they deserve their bonus.” The old warrior said into the camera.
The other men took hold of him and his son looked into the lens and sneered. “yes they do” and began hacking the head off the man. At the end of the video he stood bloodstained and holding the head as the body fell forward. A squeal and a crash brought the father out of his stupor and he turned to see his wife had collapsed. He ran to her side and carried her to the couch and called a family friend who was a doctor. He was able to sedate her but that he was worried the shock could be to much. The father called a local friend that had some FBI contacts and let them have the tape. He informed them that his son was the one cutting the mans head off. He offered no reason and would not explain the bonus statement. The FBI had an idea what had happened but let it rest. The man and his family held a fair amount of sway in politics and it would not be good to have them to upset over this. His wife recovered slowly but from that day she was never the same. They never spoke of their son from that day forward. He never told her that he had sent a man who worked for one of the contractors in the area to let anyone know that if they saw their son he was to be put down and their would be a reward. Nothing ever came of it but he felt better. Through his attorney the family of the men who went to find his son were given their bonus money and he made sure the granddaughter was admitted to Harvard and never wanted for anything during her time there. His wife began to drink and finally could not take the shame and ran her car off the road into one of the canyons. A note left at the home simply read “I am Sorry”. His father changed all the wills and nothing was left for Simon to get. A year later a break in and a fair amount of Jewelry was stolen. The safe number had not been changed. It took him several months to find all the pieces from his wife’s family but it turned out he did recover them all. From the description it was his only son that had pawed them. He let the rest of the family know Simon truly had no family after that day but the warriors he professed his life to.
Simon had only cursed the woman as he had found out she had died and now years later he was here fighting the righteous war against the infidels on their accursed land. When this was over he would visit his father and take his head. He had not thought of them for some time. He had kept his name instead of taking a Muslim name to complete their shame. He smiled as he knocked on the door before entering.
“Imam you asked to see me?” Simon said as he looked towards the ground.
“Yes, Simon before you leave please call our friends in Phoenix and see if they can take care of that young man. The Agents were unable to kill him this morning and I want him to die this night also. I had hoped we could attack the people in Minnesota but that is proving to be a problem but we shall make them pay also.” The old man said as he sat on a large red fringed pillow reclining back as a young woman no more then 13 reverently placed food and drink for him. He was pulling a draw off a large adorned hooka next to him. His lips lightly on the mouthpiece.
“it will be done sir.” Simon replied but with the smallest noticeable hint of revulsion.
“Simon you may speak freely. What troubles you?” The old man said.
Young Simon stood and stepped form one foot to the other before he began to speak. “ Sir Forgive me but these drug runners are no better then the trash that I and the others go and kill this very night. Do we not do a dis-honor to Islam by working with them.”
The old man took a minute and his eyes closed and his hands came together as if he was looking for the right words. “ dear Simon you are correct they are but wretched dogs and we will deal with them in time and the only reason we work with them now is that we work to a similar end but never feel that we accept them, we use them...like a dagger to the heart of this beast. There time will come.”
“I am sorry Imam, I in now way meant to question you. I am sorry for the lack of vision.” he said looking down as he bowed from his waist.
“Go now Simon and do as I ask. Let them know the next batch of guns is in from Austria and they will be free if this task is complete. Allah be with you tonight. ” The old man waved a dismissive hand and Simon walked out of the doorway and then down the hall and out of the building. The warm air caressed his face as he opened his Koran and pulled back the leather binding and retrieved the small piece of paper. He unfolded it and found the number to one of their contacts in Phoenix who knew the cartel members there. Simon explained the wishes of the Imam and asked if he could contact them right away and see if they could attempt this. The man on the other end assured him that for free guns they would gladly kill the young man. Asked if it mattered how he died. Simon thought for a second and replied that as long as it was bloody enough it did not matter. The said there goodbys and Simon walked over to the area where his team was getting ready to leave. He stopped by his room and prayed and go up to change into the dark clothes they had chosen. They were all wearing black BDU and would carry an AK and a glock 40 cal hand gun. They also carried the knives that had been made for the warriors a ten inch scimitar blade. His carried a red handle that shown it had spilled blood. He was proud of having such a weapon. He remembered the old grizzled man who his father sent and how he had slashed his throat and then cut his head off with it. He picked up his Koran and walked out the door he wanted to have it with him on this glorious night. The 11 men team assembled outside the building around the back where they loaded their gear into a dark van. It was much like any other delivery van but had a partition between the front and back so if they were stopped they would not see the other men. It had already been decided that nothing would stop this even if a police officer had to die to forward them on their way. This night would proceed and judgment would be rendered on the infidel. The van drove out of the heavy wrought iron gates heading up interstate 75 and towards the vile dog that had caused so much stress to their beloved Imam.
A phone rang hundred of miles away at a drop house just outside of Phoenix. The young Mexican who answered the phone said nothing the man on the other end simply said is this El Diablo and a short reply of yes with a think Spanish accent.
“my Imam would like you to go to the gun shop and take care of the young man you followed earlier. There has been a new shipment of guns that have just arrived and if this is done that shipment is yours and it is free.” The mans voice said.
El Diablo's interest was peaked. If he was going to get Automatic Glocks he would gladly kill anyone and this gringo they had followed today was just a fly to swat. However he had seen the lovely young woman and that might be one that would live. They would kill all the men and take the women she would be something to please the men for awhile and then she could be disposed of or sold south of the border. “for free guns I will kill all the men in this place.”
“My Imam would like this done tonight can that be accomplished?”
“a car was left to watch the location, I will get some more men together and we will pay them a visit in about an hour. I will call you back when it is done.” El Diablo closed the phone and yelled for a lieutenant from outside. A young boy no more then 15 came running in. He was short and compact with scars along his jawline. Underneath the light weight jacket the butt of a gun was visible.
“yes sir he said quickly.”
“we are going to go to that gun shop and kill that gringo that we followed today, get some men together and lets get this done. Those rag-heads are going to give us 20 automatic Glocks if we kill him.” El Diablo waved him away with a gesture of his hand letting him know this was something that needed his immediate attention. The young man was gone and El Diablo rose from the chair and walked to a closet and pulled out 3 worked up AK47. An army friend was able to find him solid automatic receivers and they built these 3 setups. He pulled out 10 30 round magazines and then reached in the back for 2 double barrel 12 gauge shotguns. He would give them what they wanted and then get the arms he wanted. The shooting on the Interstate in Texas was just a beginning. A war was going to be brought to the white devils that had stolen this land. He packed the guns into a duffel bag and headed outside to an old station wagon. His lieutenant was coming back with five men in town and he nodded his head in agreement with the two at the shop this would work. They would catch them flatfooted and kill them all. El Diablo grabbed his phone and spoke quickly in Spanish to the person on the other end. He had directed another member of his group to go across town and get a police chase going. That should pull officers from all over to cover and let them do their business at the gun store, They started the old wagon and drove off.

Chapter 42
Roger Davis and his daughter worked the counter and took care of the customers. Beth Ann had come back down after Dan had been able to find and fix some network issues that he brother had made him explained to him. He was very smart and Beth Ann had heard the “Lovely” compliment. She had always dated the more burly type but when she had seen him in the ER, she pulled the curtain back as he dozed she wanted to kiss him. He was so cute.
“Beth Ann...Beth Ann”
“ahhhh yea, yes sir, Sorry Dad.” She said as she came out of her little euphoric stupor. “sorry dad. Whats up?”
“I was saying it is about time to close up. Why don't you lock the door and we will call It a day and you can go see how Dan is getting along” He said smiling at his daughter.
Beth Ann tucked her head down to hide the smile and the blush she was sure that was on he cheeks now. She walked around the counter and over to the door standing fully in the doorway as she looked out and flipped the lock. It sometimes takes your mind a few seconds to realize what you see as her hand was reaching for the gate and felt the coldness of the metal in her hand she saw the 4 men walking across the street with guns in their hands. She pulled the gate closed quickly and grabbed the lock and pulled it through the latch holes but was unable to lock the pad lock as she turned.
“Dad we have trouble coming.” She said just before the glass of the door shattered. Beth Ann squatted down and ran back behind the counter and pushed the panic button. The button would alert her brother and now Dan to a problem in the main office. The cameras would allow them to see what was really going on.
Dan had just loaded up the video from JT and sent a text to Jeanie and JT to see what they thought of it. He was walking over to the desk of Beth Ann’s brother when an alarm went off. He was confused. Was there a fire...? He looked over to where Jake had been sitting a moment before and he could see that he was now rummaging through a set of lockers set on the wall close to his desk. Dan saw when he came up he had an AR rifle and several magazines in a vest he had just put on.
“JAKE what is going on.” Dan said quickly running over to where the young man stood.
“well it looks like we have company... a robbery or maybe someone else sent to take care of you. Either way Dad and Beth Ann are downstairs and I need to go down and help them. Stay here and you will be safe. They will never make it back here. They are in for a big surprise.” Jake said running past Dan with the rifle slapping one of the magazines in place and loading a round.
“that is not going to happen Jake, I am not going to hide here and let others fight my battles. I may not be as good as Jeanie but I can shoot and guarantee that I will fight until I can't.” Dan said looking into Jake’s eyes as he grabbed his forearm.
Jake said nothing but grabbed the gun in his holster and handed it to Dan along with another magazine as they headed towards the shop. Dan looked down and inspected the weapon it was a FN five seven he had held and worked the mechanisms but did not want to drop a thousand dollars on his first gun. He dropped the magazine as they walked and then racked a round in the chamber after he replaced the magazine. The two men walked down the side steps and down to the first floor walking down a hallway that Dan assumed led to the main office. As Jake opened another door this one looked like it may have been metal maybe steel, Dan began to hear the sounds of gun fire. They quickened their approach and then Dan punched a code on the numeric lock and the last door was opened. Jake opened the door and held it with his foot as he looked around the door Jam and into the store area.
Roger Davis both heard his daughter and saw the glass breaking at the same time and dove behind the counter. The bottom plate of the counter had years ago been replaced with quarter inch steel backed by concrete block. It would easily stop most rounds a few more rounds and he reached up and grabbed the short double barrel shotgun he kept behind the counter. He looked up to the corner and saw that one of the thugs was reaching into the door and trying to remove the open lock that was keeping the metal gate closed. The gate was composed of metal flats that were pinned together to create a diamond pattern that kept anyone from getting in. If he got the lock off they could slide the gate back and would be able to come in. Roger Davis quickly stood up and blasted the door with both barrels tearing into the flesh of the hand reaching in. The man began to scream as he pulled his tattered hand from the gate. Roger could hear screams from outside and someone yelling in Spanish and he could make out a few curse words and was sure that someone thought this was going to be easier. Roger ducked back down and looked down the showcase and saw his daughter crouched down and holding her 1911. They caught eyes and he knew she was not going to get up. He pointed to the corner mirrors they had installed and they could see when a barrel came through one of the open diamonds and began to fire. Most of the rounds were hitting over near her father since the gun could not be moved side to side so to spray bullets all over the store. She saw another hand come through the hole close to the lock and reach through. Beth Ann moved from a crouch to a kneeling firing position and fired a burst of three quick rounds. The hand quickly withdrew with renewed screams from a different person.
El Diablo had stayed back he knew that he could sacrifice some men in order to get in and do the job but it angered him that two of his men had been shot by these gringos. He shoved the barrel of the AK in and let out a loud burst of rounds.
“dad right behind you” Jake said as more rounds pounded through the broken door. Jake stayed behind the door jam flattened against the wall trying to stay out of the way of a stray bullet. Dan was just to his right and as flat.
“Jake get upstairs and get eyes on this and stop them from getting away.” Roger Davis said in a commanding tone. “and make sure Dan stays safe.”
Jake turned and ran for the stairs and figured that Dan would let his father know that he was right behind him. He was sure that his Dad was going to let him know that in the gun fight was not what he considered safe but that would have to wait for later. As Jake ran up the stairs he punched a speed dial number so some of his dads friends would know there was a situation at the gun shop.
“Mr Davis I am right behind you what can I do to help.” Dan said.
Roger Davis looked back over his shoulder and now understood why Jake took off so quickly. He left before his father could shoot him.
“Dan IN the gunfight is not really the safe place I was thinking of.” Roger Davis said with more the a hint of sarcasm.
“well I guess Jeanie rubbed off on me and I do not plan on people fighting my battles without me being there besides I am not going to let anyone harm Beth Ann.” Dan said over the loudness of the rounds being fired.
Roger Davis looked over his shoulder and smiled a small quirky smile. “ Well I see Jake gave you that FN so why not point that thing at the door and empty that magazine that will give me time to grab my FAL.”
Dan raised the FN and pointed it towards the door as he reached around the frame. He squeezed off the first round and felt the recoil. He steadied the gun again and fired the remained 19 rounds as fast as he could pull the trigger. He could see the barrel of the AK disappear but what he did not see is that everyone outside the door went down to the ground or up against the outside wall. Dan watched as he pulled the trigger as Roger Davis grabbed an long black gun from the corner and grabbed four magazines sitting them at his feet. He grabbed a magazine and slammed it home and loaded a round. Just as the last round was being fired by the FN Roger Davis stood up with the FAL and unleashed a massive assault towards the door. Dan could see rounds hitting the door area and the wall next to it and was amazed when he saw holes begin to appear in the concrete blocks. Dan dropped the magazine and slipped the full one up and released the slide. He looked around the corner and could see Beth Ann on the floor at the other end of the display case.
“Is there anything I can do to help Beth Ann get back to where it is safe.” Dan said with more then a touch of concern.
“she is perfectly safe but take her this.” he reached into the small corner slot and pulled a shotgun out handing it back to Dan. “give that to her, she is there near the shotgun ammo anyway. Keep your head down.”
Dan grabbed the gun crouched down and headed towards Beth Ann. He dropped to his knees as he arrived at his destination with Beth Ann looking up into his eyes with a smile.
“Sugar this is not the place to be if we are suppose to be protecting you.” She said .
“hey I am not going to hide and let people get shot at for me, besides I brought a present from your dad.” Dan said as he held out the shot gun.
She smiled as she grabbed the pistol grip mossberge and pulled a couple of boxes of 00 buckshot off the shelf. She loaded up the shotgun then leaned over and kissed Dan. She rose up and fired several rounds towards the door and grabbed Dan's hand and scooted back over towards her father and the exit door.
The men outside were now rattled this was going to be an easy robbery execution and maybe a nice kidnapping of the dark haired beauty and now two of the men were injured and the other four were being kept down under constant fire. The larger rounds from the gun that the older man was shooting was actually going through the blocks on the front of the business and they had hardly been able to fire any rounds with accuracy. They were all backed up against the building hoping none of the rounds come through the wall. The two injured gang-bangers had drifted back towards the wagon as they nursed their wounds. They had drooped the AK and were attempting to work the El Diablo looked over to the two injured men and screamed at them to get back over to the building and fight.
Jake had sprinted up the stairs and moved carefully forward towards the front of the building. His phone had beeped several times letting him know the Calvary was on the way. His father had helped many men get through some tough times. They watched out for his dad and would come if he needed them. Most were ex-military and all were now a part of the Arizona Guard. The Guard had been established several years back to prepare for the possibility that the thin veneer that we called society was much more fragile then anyone wanted to admit. Roger Davis knew that it would one day not be able to sustain itself. The welfare state as well as the loss of jobs and the debt were going to collapse the illusion that the system was stable. Jake had eyes on eight bad guys with two moving towards an old ratty wagon.
Jake pulled his cell phone out and pushed a button. “Dad looks like 8 total two injured , transportation looked like an old wagon across the street.”
The intercom speaker close to Roger Davis head crackle with the information from his son.
“roger that take out the vehicle.”
“will do.” came the reply from his son.
Dan was standing behind Roger Davis and heard the conversation and was concerned. He did not want to seem cowardly but he also wanted nothing to happen to Beth Ann. “Mr. Davis I know I do not know anything about this but why not let them go. I do not want to seem like a coward but Beth Ann could get hurt and I do not want that.”
Roger Davis did not look back as he continued to fire towards the door dropping a magazine once it was empty and then reloading. “I would not think it cowardly but you miss a point. If we let them go they can come back they may bring more and maybe they catch us by surprise next time. If you come here for a war understand I do not take prisoners.” he said looked back at Dan quickly. Dan nodded and fired several rounds at the door. When the slide locked back Dan was about to ask for more ammo when Roger Davis spoke up. “Dan get rid of that thing and grab a Beretta from under the counter.” Dan ducked down and reached under the counter and found a gun when he ducked his head lower he could see a row of guns and magazines secure under the counter running the length of the showcase.
Jake had moved back from the edge and over to a large metal box on the room. If anyone looked it would seem to be some air conditioning box but on closer inspection the fuse box held a electronic lock and once the combination was punched the top of the rectangle lifted up. He and some of the men had mad this just for this purpose. Jake looked down on the K&P 50 BMG. He had the trigger worked and used a McMillan action to make it a sweet shooting gun. He hefted the gun out and grabbed the 20 rounds of ammo that was stored in the box with it and moved back towards the front wall. He sat the gun down and went back to grab the sand bag the last remaining item and scooted back and placing it on the concrete wall it may have seemed trivial in a gun fight but his dad was always serious about taking care of your guns and they will take care of you. He loaded a round and sighted the scope in. The wagon was no more the fifty yards away and would be nothing for this weapon. Jake regularly shot metal barrels at well over eight hundred yards. He flipped the safety off and squeezed the trigger. The concussion was immense and he never got used to it. The front of the car exploded in sparks and flames as the 660 grain FMJ tore through the engine. The wagon was going no where.
El Diablo had called his men back and was going to try another attack when a massive explosion. He could feel the concussion of the blast and when he looked back towards the wagon the two men were now on the ground and the wagons engine was destroyed. He looked up and fired rounds towards the roof. The only possible place someone could have fired that from. As he fired more rounds he saw an older model jeep turn the corner and head down towards the shootout. What kind of an idiot would turn into a shoot out he though to himself. The Jeep was not not far from where the wagon was parked and he saw two people inside and figured they finally had seen what was going on and were going to get out of here. He however had other ideas they were going to grab that Jeep and get out of this mess and come back with more soldiers. He signaled to one of the wounded men to head to the Jeep. The gang-banger held the gun in his left had awkwardly as he walked over to commandeer the Jeep. He yanked open the door with his injured hand. He never was able to raise the gun as the blast from the 10 inch double barrel shotgun knocked him backwards. The man who shot him was already out of the Jeep and over the hood putting the engine block between him and any other bad guys. Another man headed out the drivers side and raised an AR15 to his shoulder and began to fire on the seven remaining dregs. Rounds were exchanged back and forth the gang-bangers trying to find whatever cover they could as they went down one by one. The two men behind the Jeep and from above with Jake rounds were coming in to the two small groups of bad guys.
El Diablo was trying to hide behind a concrete pole in front of the business but was taking rounds from in front and behind. Whatever the old man was using inside it was ripping the wall to shreds. He was loosing men quickly whoever these men were they knew how to shot people and were doing a good job at it. Just then a larger boom and someone was shooting a 12 gauge from inside. The wall shook as several more rounds smashed against it. His men littered the road and then the final two men took off running around the corner the right corner trying to escape the carnage. One of the men behind the Jeep took aim and shot both as they tried to escape. They both went down and stopped moving. El Diablo began to move when another round tore through the wall and he was knocked forward. The gunfire stopped a short time later and the smoke slowly cleared from the roadway in front of the gun shop. Jake looked over the area and made sure none of the bad guys were moving before giving the all clear.
The two men from the Jeep slowly moved out from cover and Jake headed down the stairs. Jake met up with his father, sister and Dan as they moved from around the display case and over towards the door. His two friends hand begun kicking guns away and collecting them from the dead gang-bangers. They collected all the handguns and AK's and placed them in the back of the Jeep. Jake and his group came out of the store cautiously and walked over to the two men who had come to offer help. Roger Davis shook hands and offered thanks for the help as Jake and Dan spoke quietly. Dan explained that his dad had started the Arizona Guard and helped a lot of vets when they had trouble. Dan walked over after Roger Davis had introduced him and he said his own thank yous and voiced appreciation for coming to their aid. The men were chatting as Beth Ann wondered over towards the two men that had died closer to the building. She had her 1911 in the retention holster on her belt. Beth Ann had nudged the body of the one dead bad guy and was walking over to the one that had been hit from their shots from inside the building. She used her boot to kick the body in the ribs.
El Diablo had been knocked down and then stayed down hoping that he would get a moment where he could sneak away and would return and make these gringos pay. He also would have to think about the relationship with the terrorists. They had said this was an easy target and now 7 of his men were down. The dark haired beauty was checking bodies kicking them in the side. She was coming over to him.
Beth Ann kicked the body and it moved. She attempted to move back but El Diablo was up with his arm across her chest and a knife to her neck. Her scream alerted the others and they ran over with guns drawn. His left arm held a knife across her neck with his right hand he was trying to get her gun out of the holster. The men stopped as he yelled for them to stand back. He pulled the knife slightly away from Beth Ann’s neck as the men stopped about fifteen feet away.
“now you gringos stay back and I am going to head over to the Jeep and the bitch and I are going to go for a ride and I will let her out when I am away from here.” El Diablo spat out.
Roger Davis waved the men to lower their guns. Dan still had his gun pointed to the head of the man who held the women who saved him earlier. Roger stepped forward and placed his arm across Dan's chest putting his hand on Dan's forearm and guiding him to lower his weapon.
“that is right old man, now we are going to move to the Jeep.” El Diablo said his confidence high that he still might salvage this with the treat of the dark hairs company. He smiled triumphantly but made a crucial mistake that would prove to be fatal. His left arm relaxed and moved away from Beth Ann's neck.
Beth Ann perceived the slight relaxation and knew she had an opening. She relaxed her body and knew he would feel she was resigned to getting taken hostage but this was a precursor to her attack. With smooth precision she reached her left arm and grabbed his hand around the thumb and pulling quickly away from his body. As the knife came away from her body she dropped her hips down and reached back with her hand and grabbed the mans testicles in her hand and squeezed hard. The scream from the mans lips was horrific. Every man in the group winced at the thought of the pain. Beth Ann released the hold on the man balls and spun outwards and drew he gun and fired a single shot hitting him in the side knocking him back against the building. Dan moved forward quickly and kicked the knife away and pointed the 9mm at his head. Dan could not understand this why would this guy want to help the terrorists.
“why man, why would you want to help them. They hate you as much as they do Americans. They will come after the drugs when they are done with us.” Dan said screaming at the man bleeding.
For the longest time there was no answer. “they promised me a case of Automatic glocks for that I would kill my own mother.” he spat blood drooling from his lips.
Dan looked closer as if he was thinking. “So they have a case that came in from Austria maybe in Minnesota or Michigan.” He stared back down into the eyes of El Diablo. “well I guarantee that delivery will be made if I can find the package and I will make sure the Imam will get the credit.” Dan said smiling. “ Mr. Davis please tell me you know someone that can make things go boom.” he said turning and looking at the older man.
Roger Davis simply smiled and nodded his head.
“excellent!” Dan said turning back to El Diablo “ you know I could forgive you for trying to kill me but you put your hands on my girl and that I cannot forgive.” Dan said quietly as he raised the gun and fired several shots into the mans chest. The shots surprised the other men as they looked over to Dan. “no prisoners, like you said he would have just come back if he lived.” Dan reached out and took Beth Ann's hand and began walking towards the smashed office door as she entwined her arm in his.
Smiling!
Jake smiled and slung the AR over his shoulder. “ yep he might be a keeper.” as he walked towards the door.
Roger Davis smiled and shook the hands of his friends as they departed. He would call the local police and let them come and figure out what happened. He was sure it was a massive robbery attempt.
Whoooeeee!
Thanks for the update!
