It really is the best mag out there for 'primers' on everything from tapping your own well to processing a hog to building a log home without permits.

Hi Dave, or is it John?? I reupped my subscription again after letting it lapse for a year with the new preparedness issue and now waiting on the June issue that I have not seen arrive yet....or is it a July issue?? Thanks for being a TB2K sponsor and a lot of people here are pretty much in lock step with the things you cover with your fine publication.

It is worth every penny and then some to get this. DH and I have been getting it for years like most of you here have. We only can afford two subscriptions a year and this is the one we will never do without!

So if you have been thinking about giving this a try, please do! And thanks to the fine people at BWH for the offer and the links! If I ever get really stuck on something in the kitchen, I can usually find something offered by Jackie Clay on it!

It used to be great for home=school articles

The ONLY mags I ever subscribed to were BWH and Countryside. All the rest have so many ads that they should pay us for reading them. My friends wait in line for them after I read them.

As a long-time subscriber, I can say that I highly recommend the magazine. There's always something interesting to read, and most of the issues are packed cover to cover with things that I'm interested in. It's a very good value for the dollar.

Got my first package in the mail (the May-June issue I asked for, and the chicken book) yesterday. Fast service, and my wife is still wandering around with the book in front of her nose- she loves it.

Thanks for the subscription deal, and thanks for supporting TB2K!

    Great Mag!

It is, indeed, an excellent and interesting resource!

PS - GADZOOKS, I am tired - didn't realize this was old! Still - even without the discount it is an EXCELLENT resource.

Got my first issue for a Christmas present and so far it is the most excellent reading. Canning Bacon is something I have been wanting to try and this made it seem a no brainer.

A couple of points though, my XYL wasn't aware of the TB2K discount, so missed that. Second point is that it wasn't a surprise at Christmas. The gift card arrived to me, as soon as the order was placed at the first of the month. So if you want it to be a surprise, wait until closer to Christmas to order.

Thanks bbkaren. I'll certainly give your thread a look. I've always been some what shy with canning meats. Just doesnt seem natural or safe. Sort of like jumping from a plane with a parachute the first time. But I'm sure I'll get over that after a successful can.

I gladly pay full price for BHM....the best magazine of ALL TIME. The latest copy is next to the bed at all times...then they have the honor of being the ONLY periodical that takes up space in the "fire resistant room"...along side tomes like "When There Is No Doctor" and "The Stanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy" and about twenty others I deem epic in scope.

BHM is simply amazing.... IF we suffer a TEOTWAWKI situation, any group of folks could safely start a new government with any years worth of BHM, IMO....and provide the food and shelter to live as an aside.

I will be forever grateful to the good people that make this Patriotic publication available!

Really? Seriously? Are you sure you are not confusing Backwoods Home Mag with Richie's Backwoodsman Mag?

PS: To any other fellow TB2K members out there ... has anyone tried downloading a subscription to their Kindle or Android device yet? And, if so, how readable is it on the device?
