    [TIP] I have employment!!!

Well folks, I received a VERY nice offer of "perm" employment (yeah, I know...) from a local Minneapolis company. Nice salary and good bennies. I start Monday. No more contract work. Home every night. And I get to work in the latest technology.

Who'd a thunk it? Being able to get a good job (with only a month off work) in the current economy.

    Maybe my Karma has improved....?

    Congratulations! Caveats?

I'm so happy for you, Dennis! You certainly deserve this, contract work is tough on family life and stressfull to boot.

But it does give you freedom.

One question. A lot of employers are image conscious. Could your job be threatened if your employer became unhappy about your prominent involvement in this (ahem) unusual forum?

Could pressure be applied by agents of TPTB to get you in trouble on the job, to attempt to poison your professional reputation with accusation of links to a "time bomb" forum? (You know what I'm getting at, you know how journalists can blow things out of proportion.)

I guess if it came down to it you could always go back to what you were doing before, but if need be for the good of you and your family, can TB2K survive without your direct involvement as primary sysop and board caretaker?

Or is that a meaningless question?

Hope I'm just being cautiously paranoid as usual, and that it's just darn good that you're part of the 9-to-5 gravy train system like most folks. "Benefits" are good to have.

I was so glad to notice that it wasn't a job at the Sears Tower--I understand there are quite a few available these days!

Well, jee, we really enjoy having your full-time services on the board, but if you think you might enjoy monetary remuneration . . .I guess we'll just have to understand.

    Congrats, Dennis

Yes its great news! And God knows that we all need it and take joy in your getting the job. As far as Karma, yep...bet you even have some good karma left in the karma credit bank. Look what you have done for all of us, ...and Stu....and Sat...and many others we will never hear about. You deserve it and I am so pleased that you got it. Hugs

    Hey Dennis,

Great news... Think they have another job for another unemployed computer person here... Arms don't work well, but have mouth with mic and will travel... I just paid off my farm in full and prepaid IL house taxes to the turn of $14.9 K for the current payment and next 2 payments... I've never felt or been so broke before in all my life...

I'm so glad you got the job with all the bennies and normal hours... retract: normal hours if this is a salaried position...

    Best of luck...

    Kath

Congratulations, Dennis! It is so nice to hear something good and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!

    Congrat's!!!

Now I just hope some of that good stuff rubs off on me...

I'll be out of business in 30 to 60 days if something doesn't change soon...

Started looking for a "perm" job again too.

Congrats Dennis. So glad to hear your good news. I am also hoping this is just the beginning of good news for all the rest of us on TB who have ...ahem... very irregular or no income. Hope and pray yours is just the first of all on TB who will in the next few days find regular income to support their families.

    Dennis,

    Congratulations! That is great news.

I just have one question. On the job application, where it says “List Other Skills and Work Assets” did you write in “Continuous consultation with the nation’s leading experts on everything?”
