Another thought, considering the reports of the cell phones being taken out during the game.Maybe one of the frequency hopping advance detonators used to set off IED s was used by authories to set the thing off before it could get into the target zone. There is a theory that most bomb vests have a command detonation back up incase Ahab losses his nerve. This kid sounds like a text book case of a type of person who could be targeted , and converted/brainwashed to do the deed and get around profiling . He was a loner, rather odd to having mental problems reported. And remember the early reports of by a female mid eastern descent student who reported 2 middle eastern males fleeing into the stadium after the boom.Satanta said:Well he might have been planning on bombing the bleachers or the mascot or cheerleaders or whatnot.
I've built things like that to rid self of pesky problems like tree stumps and alligaters.
Might have accidentally flipped the trigger too soon.
Things like this is one of the reasons I try to avoid crowds.

Lilbitsnana said:mzkitty, is the photo "legit"? or "shopped"? yes, it seems the "jihadists" usually do have facial hair. remember the "Taliban" made all men grow beards to a specific length?

mzkitty said:Well, well, well. Take a gander at this. It was on FR. It goes with what the cretin said on that other board that I posted about in the Terror sig, which I'll attach here again for the members (sorry lurkers). This is VERY IMPORTANT. There's more to it but I'm not comfortable putting it here. It's Post #3707 there:
The only sign that a bombing occurred is yellow tape and at least 50 matches surrounding the area where Joel Hinrichs, 21-year-old engineering student, was killed while sitting on a bench. The bench was removed this morning."

minkykat said:Sorry 'bout that. I was the one who said it was "bland" sounding. In that, I meant it doesn't have the upbeat sound of say, "What Cheer, IA" or the ominous ring of "Hell, MI". It's just, "Hi, I'm Norman."![]()
Not exactly the place one would expect to see the begining of the end of an age having roots in.![]()
But then, maybe that's what TPTB had planned all along....

Anyway, I don't know where the information about the matches came from. My inside source didn't say anthing about that. I'll check again. But the eyewitness to the actual explosion said that the guy was 1) definitely alone and 2) did not do anything to cause the bag to explode. He was holding it in his lap and it exploded. Period. No match lighting involved. Also, this info. is coming from someone who is inside local law enforcement and is very trustworthy. I've know them my whole life.

freebyrd said:let this be a lesson to all of you, this is how controlled the media is,
all you folks who only watch fox news because you think it is a conservative mouthpiece, and everyone who prefers cnn, because you think they stick it to bush more often,
you all should plainly see when it comes time to march lockstep in unison and completly lock down a story, they are all on the same page,
its truly frightening, and anybody who thinks well its a good thing because were not giving the terrorists the exposure they want, well the trade off is too much, i would much rather have a media that isn't taking orders from homeland security, thank you very much.
it makes us no better than russia and our media no better than pravda

Jenny said:I'm a resident of Norman and, according to a friend inside local law enforcement, they definitely to NOT think it was just a suicide. IOW, the bomb was clearly not meant to go off where/when it did. There was at least one eyewitness to the explosion itself and the guy didn't do anything to cause the explosion. He walked up to a bench, took his backpack off, sat down w/ it on his lap and was "hugging" it . . . sort of like resting his head on it, if that makes sense. This was just minutes before halftime of the game (which I was at, btw), a time when thousands of people leave the stands and go under/outside the stadium and smoke, walk aroud, get concessions, mill around, etc. The bench the guy was sitting on is about 75-100 yards from the stadium. I think he was sitting & waiting for all the people to come out at halftime. He couldn't have gotten inside the stadium w/o a ticket, but could have quickly put himself in the position have been in a perfect location to hit others outside the stadium if the bomb had not gone off prematurely. Also, the bomb was made of some sort of highly volatile, home-cooked, liquid explosive, not a pipe bomb as has been reported in the local news.
Also, just to let you know that the guy does have islamic ties. A middle eastern roommate, for one. Other ME friends, associates, also. The more recent (i.e., more "muslim-looking") picture that has been posted here and elsewhere is accurate. They did find other explosives, etc. in his apartment. I didn't hear anything about Islamic literature, though. The local LEs don't know if he was acting alone or in concert w/ others from what I've been told. He did have some personal problems and bouts w/ depression so it's possible this was his way of making some sort of last grand gesture/statement and there weren't others involved, but due to all of his ME associates, it's also very possible he was one of a group of people. I certainly hope that's not the case.
This is a very nice, quiet, very typical mid-western college town (someone above said it has a bland-sounding name, which I take issue with. We're not bland at all!!) and it is a bit of a stretch to think of this being the hotbed of Islamic fundamentalism, but one of the 9/11 hijackers did live here for a time so this would not be the first brush w/ terrorism we've had . . . if, indeed, that's what this is.
At any rate, I think this should be at least a little heads up for everyone.
