PREP Photo's of Wal-Mart Emergency Food Supply

I took these today in a Wal-Mart in St. Charles County, MO. People were looking at it out of curiosity, but I didn't see anyone buying. You could buy the same stuff at Aldi's separately, and it would cost much less, I am sure.

Sorry about the photo's coming up sideways! I don't know what happened because they were not like that while I was uploading. :-/

Can you buy shelf stable food at Aldi's?

Fixed it for you because I wanted to see it right side up! :)

If they have this at my Walmart, I'd buy it.

ETA: now that I can read it all - it looks like it will feed one person for 12 days (it's a 4 person, 72 hour bucket). So it comes to a little over $5 a day per person. Less than $2.00 a meal is not a bad deal. Don't think you can beat that (?).

Well... good deal or not, it's nice to see these types of products in the regular stores. It might get someone who is otherwise unprepared ... a little less so.

Thanks HD!!!!

No problem, thanks for posting! I may make a special trip to Walmart tomorrow to buy some of these. The more I think about it, this is a great deal. No trans fats, no hydrogenated oils, no MSG, vegetarian, less than $2.00 a meal? Worth the trip for sure.

I would think you could also stretch the meals out for a longer period of time. Eating over 2000 calories a day for a woman, is quite a bit.

you can go online to walmart.com and check on stores near your zip code to see if they are in stock.
The walmart supercenter 6 miles from me has them in stock.

It would be wise for anyone buying these items to use some of them now. The "add water and eat" stuff is good, even excellent, BUT, if you are not used to it, and in an ugly situation where that is the only food available.... you just might find that the change in diet will give you the runs, and that is the last thing you need in a critical situation..... just a thought.... buy it, certainly, looks like a good deal, but the old statement..... store what you eat, eat what you store..... is certainly correct......

Yes, I could beat that.

That package is roughly $4.70 a pound for what looks like pasta, rice, potatoes, milk and some vegetables with maybe some meat product thrown in, all in a handy looking plastic bucket. No thanks.

Those dried foods come from Augason Farms.. I've heard they're really good. It's a Mormon company I believe.

Be aware they contain TVP, i.e. soy disguised as a meat (beef flavored vegetarian meat substitute) and the soy most likely is GM, if that makes any difference to you.

Especially the younger crowd that believe they don't have the time or the skill to put something like this together themselves. This would be a good start for most young families, especially if they purchased more than one of them.

It does, it'd probably make me sick which is why I make my own up and vaccum seal them, but if I was absolutely starving...

This is stuff to store for a bugout, not for regular home use.
What you eat during a bug out or when traveling is not necesarily what you eat at home or in your bugout location where you will have more facilities.
Also good for camping.
I already have most of my LTS food for home and I do cycle through it.
For me, most freeze dried food is too expensive for regular home use but it's perfect if you have to leave your home for a few days or weeks.

To those talking about sealing their own, your products won't have a 25 year shelf live. Especially veggies.

Does anyone think this is a head's up to the sheeple? The display was basically right off the entrance, in the main aisle, in front of the register's. Hard to miss.

Not in Alabama! This is the slowest state I have ever seen for preps, healthy food, and numerous thing I've looked for.

I can order but won't. And if you want to order it from WM, it will cost you 69.00

either way its good to see stuff like this in a store most people use ..gets them thinking ..add a few of those pails along with some canned meats ..like tuna or spam ..or dried beef .. good fast and cheap way to put away some stuff .. they already have mountine house food in the camping section ..along with the nice evil black rifles they are now selling ..seems maybe some one told them what kind of people shop there ..normoal working class.

25 year shelf life? Did they use O2 absorbers?
Looking at the contents, this will keep you alive but not very healthy.

Located where the DHS cameras can get a good picture of those buying. Just being paranoid... :)

Marymonde, I live in St. Charles county. Which store was it that has these? I may check them out. Thanks for telling us about them. I don't like the idea of eating soy though but in a pinch I guess one would eat anything. Wish I had learned how to dehydrate and preserve my own, just no time now.

They have similar buckets at Sam's that are labeled as a month supply for one person. Those stores carry what sells. If preps are selling that well to the general public then people are more awake than I thought.

It was at the Wentzville Wal-Mart, across the road from Schnuck's. :) And right, I don't like the soy idea, but if agree it's better than nothing.

Are we there yet?
If you order online from Walmart, shipping is FREE for what it's worth (at least in my area). They also have a $99 bucket with a "30 day supply".

they never have anything like this at my Walmart - can you buy it online? My walmart has the entitlement crowd only, so they would figure the Govt. is going to feed them no matter what

$4.90 per lb. It says 4 person 72 hour (3 day) kit. At 3 meals a day, that's 36 meals, but it also says 203 servings. Does that mean you each get 5.6 servings per meal? Is this the same or similar to the food buckets Jim Baker, minus Tammy Kamart is hawking on Evangelical TV?

$63 bucks for THAT?? :kk1:
pfff...no thanks.
Hell, I'd rather have a case of Campbells Chunky Soup!
@ $1.88 per can X 30...at least it's edible. :shr:

Actually when you go to the walmart site, put your zip code in and it will check all the stores within 50 miles to see if they have it in stock.
I'm in central Florida and I have a Walmart 6 miles away that carries it.

To answer your question, yes they ship this and many other emergency supply type stuff for free as long as the order is over 49 bucks.
On the walmart site, search for emergency supplies.
By the way you will find even more on Costco and Sams website if you are a member and I believe shipping is included.

As I said previously, this is not a good buy for home storage food, but it is a good bugout pack that can be thrown in the car or truck if you have to make a quick exit.

Maybe not. Hurricane season starting up, and some of those storms head inland quite a way.

Then again...maybe more people are waking up, or just paying attention to gov.'s "be prepared" warnings.
