Good evening, All! Hope this finds everyone doing well :) It was a work weekend for me, so very little got done at home. I did get a call from our group buy coordinator and picked up some silver dimes as well as a few older silver dollars, so at least I got a tiny bit of prepping done! I...

Good Morning, All! It has been a busy weekend here; we spent it moving daughter and grandsons out of their house yesterday; and today we'll be getting things set up in their new temporary house. I really hope she will choose a one story house next time  It was all I could do to walk up the...

    Old Beans

I was cleaning out a closet and found a bucket with packs of dry beans that I vacuum sealed about five years ago. They are Navy and Great Northern beans. Are they still good? My plan now is to can them if you all think it is worth the time and effort.

    Green belly back pack meals

Has any one tried these, as in field tested? I keep an eye out for foods for our family's 72 hour packs. They look like energy/meal replacement bars. Thought the home made dried instant oatmeal cereal looked like a good idea. I don't know how this would stand up to being stored in a hot car over a...

Good Morning, All! It's a beautiful day here; temps in the 60's and forecast to go into the low 70's, maybe a little rain the forecast - but I'd consider that a blessing for the gardens. It's been a busy since last week around here with the grandkids underfoot, but we have been having a lot...

    Salt Question

The local Grocery outlet has Himalayian salt. It is pretty chunky and in pretty sweet jars with corks. About a couple ponds fir $2.99. Has anyone become a salt foodie and tell me what you know about all the new types of salt out there? Thank you.

What Kind of Handbag do you carry and what do you carry in it?

I'm always looking for the perfect hand bag. For awhile now I've been using a crossbody bag, its seems like a safe way to carry a handbag. My problem is the amount of things I put in it, makes the bag heavy and I'm not even carrying, if you know what I mean. My wallet seems to be too big, but...

Must have prep - Dutch oven and accessories

Our forefathers lugged them across the country in covered wagons. But what exactly is a dutch oven and why would you want one in your preps? I'll share a little research I've done on the subject of dutch ovens. A traditional Dutch oven is made of cast iron, has three legs, a wire bale...
