We also hit a dent and ding yesterday. Got more of the famouse duck sauce for 99 cents for a big jar. Can't make it for that price. Also got some first aid stuff as well not much but a bit and every bit helps.
Plan is tomarrow we will take a picnic lunch. Fly rod and kindle and head to a river in the sticks.

Got part of my tomatoes planted. Need more pepper plants and will take care of it this week. If the weather is nice enough this week I need to get more garden stuff done as well. Did get all the herb beds cleaned which is nice also.
Yesterday got dh another boat. this one folds up though to go on the outside of a camper. Which we don't have the camper yet but will within the year. And the boat was really cheap and we don't see them here very often.
Dh has vacation this week for the fishing contest. Hopefully he will be at the lake catching fish making money. If he did really well we could get the camper sooner even. One guy caught a fish that was worth $l,ooo this week already.
Hope you all have a Happy Mothers Day. I am off to water the trees. What are you all doing?

Well I went back to Lowes on Monday. And I got 6 more of the blackberry plants for $3 as well. CVK they grow here we just have to fight the wild birds for them. And I am hoping by putting these new ones closer to the house it will help. I didn't want to move the ones I have already till I got these going well. That way hopefully I will get some from them this year. Then maybe next year move those if I need to.
I got the plates for my new to me rig on Thursday. Cost me $l20 for a lifetime plate. And it will cost me $25 a month for insurance as I only put Lib on it. I have insurance with the company on 2 other rigs is why the price in case you were wondering.
Went to a yard sale close by yesterday and got sprinklers for the garden for 25 cents each. Good price they are the smaller sprinklers which work great in raised beds.
I also got the zippers for repairing dh's boat top this week. And will have to get it done this week. Contest at the lake will be on next week. So need it done maybe tomarrow morning while he is at work. I was thinking I had another week but guesse not.
Had a friend get me some building stuff at a yard sale on Friday. So now I can get busy on my greenhouse as well.
Not to many dull moments around here. What are all of you doing????????

This week I had to get Bactrim for an infection. My doctor went ahead and gave me 3 refills if I ever need more in the future (I love my Dr :D). Since Bactrim is relatively inexpensive, I was wondering if I should go ahead and fill one of them now and add it to preps? "IF" TSHTF tomorrow (which I doubt, but one never knows) I would have a week's supply on hand without relying on the drugstore. Does this make sense to anyone else, or should I leave well enough alone for fear of the Rx going out of date? I would think that even if it DID expire, it might be better than nothing if there's no way to get an Rx during an emergency or SHTF situation.

(By the way, I do realize it's not the greatest idea to store antibiotics for future use....I was just wondering about the "fudge factor" here)
Thanks!

Desert Nomads Marvel at Water Purifying Device
4/2/13 Omar Razzouki gazes intently at the wooden box, marveling at what might be the solution to the perennial water woes that he and other nomads like him across the Sahara desert face daily.

More than 330 million people in sub-Saharan Africa, or around 40 percent of the population, do not have access to clean drinking water, according to a report published to mark world water day by British NGO WaterAid.

The World Health Organisation estimates that this lack of drinking water is the reason for nearly nine out of every 10 deaths linked to diarrhoea.

In the Sahara, nomads are among those suffering most from limited access to water, particularly during the hotter periods when rising salt levels in water drawn from wells make it undrinkable.

The "nomadic festival" held earlier this month in M'Hamid, in Morocco's southern desert region, was an opportunity for the pioneers of a portable water purification device to showcase their invention.

It uses a process as old as the sky.

"It's simple. It emulates the natural cycle of cloud condensation," explained Alain Thibault, an ex-sailor who had to confront the issue of fresh water shortages at sea.

The experience gave him the idea several years ago of reproducing the process using just a "small machine that is easy to make and easy to use."

The "waterpod" allows desert-dwellers to turn water extracted from wells into clean drinking water through evaporation and condensation, using the heat of the sun, a technology that the Arabs were among the first to develop as far back as the 16th century.

The device, which resembles a large letter box, currently costs around 500 euros ($650).

But the inventors have already given courses at a college in Tiznit, on Morocco's Atlantic coast, to teach students how to produce them more cheaply.

"The waterpod is made of wood, cork, stainless steel and glass," said Thierry Mauboussin, who is helping to promote the water project in Morocco.

"It works with solar energy, so no fossil fuel."

Noureddine Bourgab, the president of the nomad festival at M'Hamid, also praised the environmental value of the new device, which he hoped could "put an end to the problem of salty water for the desert nomads."

"It's a technique that embodies the real meaning of sustainable development and protection of the environment," he said.

Razzouki, a nomad from the M'Hamid region, was concentrating hard on figuring out how the waterpod works.

"This could resolve many of our water problems," he said, noting that the box was light, and "we won't have the problem of salty water everywhere we go."

M'Hamid El Ghizlane, Morocco's gateway to the Sahara, is an oasis on the edge of the Draa valley surrounded by rolling sand dunes, 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Algerian border.

The construction 40 years ago of a hydro-electric dam further up the valley to provide for the growing population and tourist trade at Ouarzazate, along with the relentless desertification of the region, has taken a heavy toll on water supplies.

So there are high hopes for the waterpod, one of which can produce six liters of pure water daily from 12 liters of brackish water, according to its creators.

They give it an estimated lifespan of 20 to 40 years, with just a daily clean needed to keep it in good condition.
"I thought maybe battery candles were the answer, but they don't emit enough light. These are a dream. No more having to deal with the remnants of votive candlies after they die down. and leave all that messy wax. And no more having tea lights die out before the party is done. These are easy to use and give off nice light. I plan to keep a good supply on hand."
"There is just no reason to ever buy votive candles again ... these things work like a dream. Absolutely no mess from wax, never any smoke, and no smell whatsoever (unlike so-called "unscented" candles that still smell like burning wax to people like me who have very sensitive noses). I find them easier to light and blow out than regular candles, as well. The 15-hour size is just the size of a large votive and fits perfectly into the standard sized spot in a typical (in my case, Moroccan) lantern. Buy a smaller size for shorter candle holders (2.5" or less) so the flame will be contained"
"These liquid votives make cleaning up a breeze. We use them weekly at our church. So much easier to replace than traditional votives. The only negative is that sometimes the flame goes out for no reason - more frequently than a wax-based candle. "
"Works great. Do not adjust wicks or lots of smoke will appear. Wish flame was a bit higher. No mess."
We have a small car that is getting harder to get in and out of. This is a 4 door as well as being a smaller suv with a v6 in it. I will get it tomarrow. I am pretty excited.
I also got 2 new blackberry plants this week marked down at Lowes as they had been nipped by frost.
And I also got a peach tree which I need to plant but for now it is in my kitchen. Well not everyone has one in there garden.
I also got some freeze dried peaches, blackberries and strawberries all in #10 cans.
